Yes, they should be. The alternative is assuming somebody is guilty of a crime when there is no evidence.

The problem is, there is a ton of proof that Zimmerman was the one who started the confrontation.

The PROOF: (all of these events were recorded in Zimmerman’s 911 calls)
1. Zimmerman was stalking Trayvon while talking to the police
2. When Trayvon noticed, he started to run home. Zimmerman grabbed his gun and chased after him.
3. In one of Zimmerman’s later 911 calls, you hear someone yelling for help. Every voice expert who has examined the recording have stated the voice was not Zimmerman’s

Basically, the only reason to assume it is “self defense” is if you are a racist.
