I had until yesteday over 300 winstreak in PvE, and i didn’t got a single rare and let alone ultra rare. Either it’s a total injustice or i’m extremely unlucky (even before i’ve made tons of PvE battle to scarvenge the first rares). And for looting Diamonds, i heard it’s only possible with the Uber Spin, make that what you will…

For some reason, the Uncommons equips for Warriors and Thieves (excepted the Ruby Sword and the Jade Blade) are only purchasable with Diamonds, a strange decision since they’re not a crucial category for competitive play.

I have currently a winstreak of 200 in PvE, and today alone i fought the Pirate Buccaneer more than 100 times with all the AP in stock i’ve gained from PvP loot, but i still haven’t gotten the ultra rare drop, not even one rare i already own T_T.

But meanwhile, i activated my book to profit of this epic session :D. But i don’t give up, someday i will get my Masamune – w -.

I think it’s some kind of residual data left in the code of the game (think of the Hidden Palace zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 among other stuff and you get the picture ^^).

That’s right! Drops in PvP are always guaranteed to fit your class (unless you still at the Warrior/Thief stage), but battling NPC is the safest way to get them, as the fierce competition in PvP makes keeping the winstreak much more difficult.

Clever analysis, i second this opinion. Knights are meant to be a defensive class, therefore can’t rely just on offensive skills, Earthquake is not what makes them essentially a good class.

Very nice guide! I planned to do the same but the general lack of awareness for this forum dissuaded me. And i would have waited the next update (supposedly ready for January :( ) to post it, when it could catch the attention of new players.

Topic: Dueling Blades / New Version of Dueling Blades

I have a couple of suggestions too.

First concerning the premium faces and hairstyles obtainable as a loot. Early in my playthrough, i was annoyed to receive twice the same hairstyle and be unable to get rid of the spare, and as many players all these items accumulate in our inventories.

I would like to sell them, for money or preferably for Diamonds (1D each for exemple), which leads to my second concern about diamonds. Every players who doesn’t spend Kreds can only ever obtain 33D and no more, which is kinda sad. At least you could try to give a way to slowly gain more for free like some other online games (from the loot spin or once a week via a daily reward system).

And MeanKno, i like your idea! I think there’s currently enough room for tuning our characters though. But with a closer look to the equipement for every classes, it seems not properly balanced. The Rogue gets the short stick as their Weapons and Armors are always sub-par compared to the other classes. While the Ninja’s stuff are undeniably the best (no obligatory a bad thing gameplay-wise), the Kagejutsu set notably is ridiculous (in that it makes the Ninja just as resilient as the best defensively equipped Rogue while being faster and hitting harder than him).

It’s a bit long but i’d like to have these remarks taken into consideration, but so far, Excellent Job and best wishes to the HourBlast staff ;D.

Two reasons to that:
1) Foremost, a “stunning radius” skill like Stun Kick is the main feature of the Thief branch, if the Knight’s Earthquake was as good as the thief’s one, the thief class would lose interest. Plus, Knights has Counter Attack (or even Shield Cover) as a high-priority skill.
2) Earthquake does compensate in comparison to Stun Kick with a larger radius.

Topic: Dueling Blades / Teasing - Official Concept Arts for Rare Armors

Hi Everyone.

I’ts been an eterenity that Dueling Blades is in Beta phase, and didn’t recieved any update while our humble community of players (speaking from Kongregate at least) desperatly berated HourBlastGames, for any feature to keep the interest around the game who’s fading away.
But meanwhile, HBG is surely on his way to complete their projects of iOS port and Facebook launch. The maintenance of the servers in the past weeks is a sign that they’re still surveilling the game at his current state, and thus assures it’s playability, for the affluing players who discover Dueling Blades.

Now here’s something that you might have missed from Dueling Blades’s own Facebook.

As you can see, these are the new concept arts for the game. On the whole, they’re very cool! But i doubt the fanciness and load of details will translate into the finalized product (unless they can do miracles within Unity Player ^^). Other than that, i note the tendency for the females models to have a cleavage window and the top as a leotard with high boots in place of pants (zettai ryouiki FTW!). While this fact can annoy people who are tired of seeing scantly dressed girls in video games, the artist in charge opted for drawing the ladies with rather modest chests, a large break (no pun intended) compared to the game.

Now there’s no confimation that they will be included into the game yet, but it’s a very good news concernig DB, the next update for a moment seems very likely and it keeps feeding my hopes to see this title rise again!

However, since it’s about “rare” armors, we can expect some sort of things (again if there’s an update) such limited copies or for a time period of availability, a prize tournament, or payement exclusively with Kreds (which would help to support the devs). If none of that, you can bet they’ll be as outrageously expensives as the current best gear ;P.

It’s been a month since your announcement, i know your team lacks funding and still hasn’t the intention to give up on this project, but i’m worrying a lot about the future of the game.

I’m supportive on the fact to add more content to the solo experience, but you should think to improve PvP as well for a long term perenity. Dueling Blades has a good potential with a small and loyal fanbase, it would be sad to see it wasted.

That’s a very asked question (we should stick it a dedicated FAQ’s topic), and yet there’s no definitive answer and it depends on personal preference and playstyle.

- The Warrior favor a defensive style, with it’s highlighted skill Counter-Attack and a growth oriented on Defense and HP, but they can benefit higher damage output with War Cry. Following this path leads you to choose between two “prestige classes”: the Knight (Defense specialist) and the Samurai (All-around Strong fighter).
- The Thief in his case arbor an aggresive style with it’s main skill Stun Kick, which generally allows a free critical attack (hitting with the Red Zone of the attack fan) when it connects, his growth focuses on agility with slighty more strength than a warrior. Again, it leads to choose between two “prestige classes”: the Rogue (Agile and Deadly brawler) and the Ninja (The opposite of the Knight: very high strength and agility, but weak defense, also a Master of Deception).

This may be lenghty but i hope it would guide your choice better. As for your question, many people recommand the thief for faring better against NPC ennemies and is generally easier to win with, but playing well a warrior can do well on solo as it does on PvP.

I almost forgot to mention a very important thing about warriors and thieves, their Attack Fan are radicaly different: a Warrior has better length while a Thief sacrifices length for width, it’s a very important parameter in battles.

The problem you pointed JOetjen91 doesn’t have to do with the players classes but rather the ennemies design.

The Warrior and the Thief are effectively balanced for PvP purposes, but it’s understandable to find this balance tackled whenever confronted to higher classes. I think the Thief’s family have easier time with the CPU ennemies simply because they don’t really know how to deal with their attack stategies (and from what i’ve heard, the CPU run blindly into Ninja Caltrops O_O).

Still if a sizable number of players run into a wall when facing the likes of Tybalt, there is a problem. I agree and advocate a better balance of the ennemies in general, just to avoid the difficulty spikes.

I wonder if HBG have taken note of the Counter Vs. Tsubame Gaeshi issue. I also agree that it makes things unfair, but some note that it trigger only if the players are fairly close to each other, which would make a little more sense. That’s why i tend to follow my target to cast TG rather than stay in the spot when i play Samurai.

Ther’s also the War Cry interference that annoys me T_T, and must be fixed please.

For replying to WayoftheToad, Yes. Stats bought on the Class Tree are permanant regarless the class you set. It would be nice if on future updates we have a more complexified tree for added customization (i don’t expect FFX Sphere Grid level of depth but who knows!).

Also, i forgot to note that BinaryBob in his class sheet also took on account the stat boosts bestowed by equipments of each classes. For exemple, it’s the reason Samurais have better agility than Knights, but it’s also agreed that Ninjas & Samurais have almost equel strength.

the samurai and ninja have equal strength, you have it as the ninja being stronger.

I’ve made my own experiments and i realized that fundamentaly, the only differences beetween classes is their array of equipable gears and skills, and also their attack fan.

Stat differences are only conditionned by the Class Tree and you based your chart on the typical player’s progession pattern. But anyone can be creative and open-up other branches to start customizing a little their character (at the condition to willingly waste one stat upgrade point).

So beating up players with the Novice isn’t too far off fighting as a naked Tier 3 class ^^.
