A great source of outdated information. The required clicks for Dwarf unlock were lowered to 10k total clicks. Many many weeks ago, at this point. So I wouldn’t trust that site implicitly, especially in the wake of a new update that changes a bunch of existing stuff.

That is most certainly all true for the current meta. I guess what I’m hoping will happen is that that meta gets changed to some extent. Clearly Titans are capable of getting up to speed ridiculously quickly, and (barring horrible luck) can get some insane gains, jump their gem count, and reset…all in under an hour. But what if they weren’t as strong? What if they were merely quick to set up, but couldn’t do much with it? Naturally you’d want to be able to earn some gems, otherwise they’re useless. But that gem gain in one run should never be able to compare to what Druids can dish out in, say, half a day. 12 hours of Druids should be roughly comparable to 12 1-hour runs on Titans, to pull some random numbers out of the void. That’s what balance is all about. Two entirely different playstyles that can both be used to great effect.

Anyway, that’s just the dream. And hopefully it would extend back down to the original 6 and up to the prestige factions, but…I’m honestly not expecting anything to come of it. There’s always gonna be some way to abuse a combination unless you strip out everything useful (and by extension fun) from the game…which is a good way to shoot yourself in the foot, developer-wise.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Drow/Dwarf factions

The Dwarf unlock requirement was changed a long time ago to only require 10,000 total clicks, not 50,000. Also at this point in time you do NOT need faction coins to buy anything. You only need that on the previous step that requires 1 million from each of the three factions of that alignment.

Since most people seem to strongly disagree with the OP, I’ll throw my support towards one of the things he said. If there is a decidedly best faction at any given moment, then it makes no real sense to choose any faction that isn’t that one, meaning that the 5 to 11 other factions you have are all but useless, and you may as well be on a rail towards the endgame. Except it’s worse than a rail, because you have other choices, but if you choose them, you make little to no progress while everyone else rockets ahead of you. So you want to have multiple avenues to victory. You want balance. But you also don’t want to make EVERY option the same, because giving you five rails that all do exactly the same twists and turns is equally boring. And while that’s a fine line to walk in terms of balance and design….DG is right on the cusp of it already. Take the neutral factions. Everyone knows Titan is the best. Has been for a long time, and even with the recent nerfs, it still is. The others simply can’t compete. But what if they could? Druid is a slower burn than Titans, but what if after all that setup, they were far superior? It would take time to reach, but once you got there you’d be suitably rewarded for all that extra time. A second rail, with vastly different twists and turns. Sounds fun. Now what about Faceless? Currently this faction may as well not exist, aside from the Heritage. But if it were useful, it would focus on choices that go beyond your current run, to all sorts of choices you’ve made leading up to it. It’s a whole level of preparation beyond that of Druid, and it should be rewarded even higher than Druid is when you put the effort in. That sounds like a brilliant way of making a game. Three choices, for three different player types, that are all (roughly) equally powerful.

And for the lazier among you (of which I count myself), a tl;dr:
For the love of god make Druid and Faceless viable.
Titan is a lightning fast setup with decent rewards and fast resets.
Druid is a slow burn setup with high rewards and long runs.
Faceless is a strategist’s dream, where preparing everything before a run gives you amazing rewards, with the best potential rewards for the highest time spent in prepwork.

And if DG can ever manage to balance these three properly, they will have become the Super Saiyans of Developers.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Anticlick Challenge?

I had this same idea several days ago and ended up discarding it completely, because of something I haven’t heard anyone in this topic mention so far. How would you get faction coins? You can’t click, so you can’t get any that way. You’d need a faction-specific spell/upgrade, but those cost faction coins to buy in the first place. So the only answer is assistants. And good luck getting 100 farms and buying that assistant with no gems and no clicking allowed. It’s certainly possible. Anything in the game is possible with enough time spent. But it would be excruciatingly boring, immediately after starting. Not a challenge I’d ever want to do.

Topic: Realm Grinder / I dont get gems back after excavation

To put it simply, the two values you added together already accounted for the excavation gems you spent. I see this problem over and over with the smarter players who check their gains themselves but don’t know how the refunding works. I got lucky when I went through it. I noticed the huge spike in “gems earned on reset” from what it was pre-excavation and managed to figure it out from there.

Topic: Realm Grinder / "Based on" upgrades

As an aside, the reason I went through and figured out the new Animal Companions bonus was so that I could use it to predict how long a certain something would take. Having recently gotten the difficult Coin Pillage without the help of the mercenaries, I decided to see if the also-very-difficult Assistant Army could be similarly earned without relying on them. Druids have potentially infinite assistants if you have the time to spare, so I wanted to see how long it would take to manage 250 assistants. With this new formula in tow, I quickly discovered that it would take (wait for it)….two years. Literally two years straight with no soft-resetting. The exact value is:
2 years, 20 days, 18 hours, 40 minutes. Assuming my calculations are correct of course.

Incidentally, if we include the extra five assistants from Reincarnation 5, the time drops down to
1 year, 353 days, 20 hours. It saves you an entire month of time. Nifty!

So…..yeah :D Never doing that. Not ever.

Animal Companions has been reduced by 1/3rd. So where it was originally one hour for one, and two more hours for two, it is now 40 minutes for one, 80 more minutes for 2, and so on. So it’ll look a bit like this:

Assistant Count – time required (total time)
1 – 40 minutes (40 minutes)
2 – 80 minutes (120 minutes/2 hours)
3 – 120 minutes (240 minutes/4 hours)
4 – 160 minutes (400 minutes)
and so on.

I had similar results. The gem count got pushed up to just over 1 No, the amount I needed to reincarnate, and I swung just over 30 trophies from it all. 1000/1500/2000 of each building, aside from maybe 4-5 of the 1000s that I had managed before, 20,000 spells cast, like we predicted; got that quite a while before I was done with the run. I even managed the 1Vg click rewards trophy somewhere along the way. And naturally, Coin Pillage itself. Overall, very sweet. And I used those 1.3 No gems to swing around and pick up Mathematician in just a few minutes on the next run. That was a good day :D

Funny how timing works. I finished my run two or three days ago and forgot to report back here, and happen to remember the instant naachan does the same. So yeah, I can confirm that the Tax Collections stack and count for two apiece. Incidentally, the entire run took me a couple hours over 6 days, despite not being slowed down by the same things naachan was. I can only assume that this was due to not leaving the computer casting overnight, spreading the online time out over a longer period. All told I expect that if you didn’t stop for trophies along the way, and did leave your computer casting at night, the grand total time needed to get Coin Pillage from Goblin’s Greed would be just around four days. Not too bad at all, for competing with merc.

Your gem count is definitely the issue here. You just need more. The 10Sx that colour suggested should be plenty to dive right in, earlier being possible if you don’t mind it being kinda slow. If you’re hearing in the chat rooms things like “go Dwarf/Angel at 10Qi gems”, that’s specifically targeted toward people doing reincarnations, who have various bonuses that a first-run player does not. You should just ignore that stuff until it applies to you.

You also need 325 trophies and 650 dark temples. And you have to be one of the evil factions. Though that’s kind of obvious as there’s no other way to buy dark temples.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Autocasting

To clarify Contingency Autocasting: When you reach the level you set, it automatically casts every spell it can (in priority order) until you run out of mana. Then it will NOT cast anything else until it hits that contingency limit again. This is a common misunderstanding, and also a very common thing people ask for the devs to change. Just wanna spare someone the confusion of it all.

Topic: Realm Grinder / [HELP] unlocking titans

You are missing the fact that the recent Afterlife Expansion changed Reincarnation slightly, so that your unlocked factions stayed unlocked. You’ve had Titans unlocked this entire time, as well as anything else you had unlocked your previous incarnation. So just soft reset and enjoy.

Or you can get it naturally when you hit 700 Stone pillars and got its upgrades.
By then all your buildings will overpower HoL.

So I buy one and then do I do what?

I’m currently trying to get it, I only have one HoL. How long do I have to keep just one. In the first post it says: "you’ll get it once you have enough upgrades " I have 168 upgrades and I don’t have the trophy. I want to know if I can get this trophy at the oment or if I have to get more gems first.

Like they’re saying, the actual trophy requirement is for Grand Balance to affect Hall of Legends. The way to do that at low gem counts is to just buy one hall of legends to keep its production as low as possible. Also try to avoid buying any upgrades that would buff the Hall more than your other buildings. Buy the other buildings as normal until they surpass your one Hall, then cast the spell and you’re done. If you can’t get enough buildings to surpass one Hall, try leaving off buildings entirely. Usually this would be Deep Mines, but you can go even farther, and ditch Farms/Inns/Deep Mines/Stone Pillars/Alchemist Lab if you need to. Don’t worry about the loss of mana and production, as that’s not important when all you’re after is the trophy. Once you have it, you can either fill in all those missing buildings, or simply reset and do something else. Good Luck.

Undead’s Night Time spell starts at 30% without the spell, not 35%. True Night originally buffed it from 30% to 35%, but now buffs it from 30% to 40%, which may be what caused the issue here.

This is simultaneously exciting and distressing. I honestly can’t imagine where you could go from here and retain sanity. So I guess I’ll take a leap of faith and let you show me. Or, uh….a keep-sitting-down of faith?

Topic: Realm Grinder / Ideas for new update thread

Not a bad idea you’ve got there. I like the idea of branching out in a way other than factions. The way I see it, Mercenaries are the endgame faction. Literally. The act of reaching them is akin to saying “you have completed the game”. And using Mercs is akin to Minecraft’s Creative Mode, where all challenge is stripped away and you’re just handed everything you need to paint pretty pictures. And I like this about Mercs. I want that to stay a thing. But it also means you can’t get a faction stronger than that…reasonably. So yeah, long story short, non-faction based changes can keep the game fresh and exciting at later levels without ruining the merc vibe.

This trophy is massively bugged up. I’ve heard people talk constantly about how it’s not awarding properly, even though they’re doing everything right. Even on the version after it was supposedly fixed. So I say to you, devs….it’s not fixed yet. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but…there ya go.

And for the record, I did earn it (which just adds to the confusion), after a soft reset, and after moving my mouse around, and I even clicked a few things that were not the treasure or upgrades or buildings.

I intend to try the Goblin Coin Pillage method. I even just now started the run. I quickly decided that neither Angel nor Druid has any reasonable shot at getting Coin Pillage with the kind of gem counts people have now. You just need too many buildings to make it work. Therefore: Goblins. So I’ll let you know how it goes in naachan’s predicted week. At first I was kinda disappointed in the prospect of spending a week doing just this, but then I remembered I’m totally in this to earn every trophy, so this is exactly what I /should/ be doing :D

And as a fun bonus, my math and naachan’s agree, I’ll need to cast Greed so many times that, paired with the free TC, I’ll get the 20,000 spells cast trophy before I’m done. Score :D

I bought this upgrade and still got the trophy after 100 casts. The only issue is that the free tax collects show up on the “spells cast this game” statistic, meaning it’ll likely say somewhere between 100 and 200 when you’ve finally cast 100 greeds. For instance, mine said 184. Meaning I had 84 Greeds cast after I bought the Central Bank upgrades. So watch out for that. Otherwise, happy hunting.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Best faction after several reincarnations

Based on what I’ve seen and heard, Goblins and Undead have the best potential of any factions. With their consistent growth they can grow far beyond something like Fairy/Dwarf, who uses almost entirely flat unchanging bonuses. So when you need to go above and beyond the No gems range, start looking to those two.

Topic: Realm Grinder / Best faction after several reincarnations

Never underestimate Titans. I ran Titans somewhere around 7 times in a row on my first reincarnation, from 400 billion gems all the way up to several Sx gems. And I wasn’t even being that dutiful about it, letting runs sit for hours not really doing anything.

I was also surprised to learn that most of the factions I did before Titans felt similar in power to each other. Demon was powerful, but not the OP mess I was expecting, even with all 425 trophies. I ran Elf for my first faction to make up for the 3% faction coin chance (highly recommended!), and then just kinda toured around for my other runs.
