You get the infinite wishes, but are then immediately struck by lightening. You can’t communicate, and thus your wishes are useless.

I wish I was a real boy.

Topic: Off-topic / My first creepy pasta

Perhaps if I was a Blockland player I’d like this, but it just seems dull to me. I’ve seen the “Admins kill Threads questioning the Creep” and “It’s real at the end” cliches a lot, and this story does nothing creative with them. You could put some effort into the imagery surrounding the creeped-out arcade, though I do admit that the people jumping out of the zeppelins was a good touch. Some of the plot points don’t really make sense (How is that the future, and why is his friend killing him other than beating him at Pong?). I like that the character has read creepy-pasta before and is aware of where he may be heading, but otherwise I’m not that interested in him.

The fact that you actually took the time to write something is good, and puts you above a lot of people with good ideas but lesser work ethic. However, I’m afraid to say I didn’t like the story. Keep writing, and hopefully you’ll improve.

EDIT: Also, I think the Arts forum would be better for getting tips, it’s partially for writing.

Zeke
Military-grade weapons were not much Ezekiel’s style. He quickly helped himself to some bullets to the rifle he already had, however. Out of the corner of his eye, Zeke noticed something very helpful…

“Anyone know how to use an RPG?” he asked.

Zeke

Zeke got his first look at the shaggy, lanky young man nearby. Trustworthy enough, he seemed. “I reckon as big a group as the few of us here, and any others we find on our travels. I go by Zeke, by the way,” the Amish man declared as he tipped his hat to Alex West. Following Zed’s order, Ezekiel began prying at the large vault’s door with the others.

Zeke

“As much as I hate to say it, the doctor’s right. Targets are harder to hit if they’re small. We need to sneak out of here as soon as possible,” Zeke spoke out.

Zeke

Zeke’s mind raced. If something big was out there, it probably wouldn’t fit in a narrow bunker like this. But at the same time, it could definitely smash down the main gate and let the rest in. Escape was the only permanent option. He stepped out of his door and drew to the first group he saw.

(Well, it seems that the base was evacuating, but then a 50 foot tall (15 meter) zombie that was immune to fire attacked, sending everyone back inside.)

(Got it.)

Zeke
Zeke could feel a rumble, as if something big was coming. Allies could wait, there was something dangerous now, he thought. He sped back into the deeps of the base, steeling himself for an assault. It turned out he’d need to open his door at least a few more times.

Ezekiel Yoder
For a moment, Zeke looked over the spartan bunk he’d been housed in since the last time he smelled fresh air. Simple bed, footlocker in the corner, and a cruel poster that resembled an open window looking towards a crisp farm morning. Ezekiel was not a cursing man, but damn did he hate that room.
His steady hand bore down at the teasing paper from the top, crumpling it to a heap as it fell off the concrete wall to the concrete floor. His bag was packed and the room was empty of anything of value. A buzzing light fell silent and a heavy door shut for the last time.
Though still filled with a flood of refugees, Zeke couldn’t help but notice a significant decrease in volume. Either some had returned to those cells they called rooms to wait, or more likely a group had already left for the surface.
With purpose, the Amish man plodded slowly through the traffic, contemplating what his future may hold. On his way out during the frequent shouting over the speakers, he passed a middle-aged doctor and a shaggy-haired youth. Zeke paused, suddenly realizing the dangers the surface could pose. Perhaps an alliance could be beneficial?
He approached the two, hoping to be noticed amongst the confusion and death being presented by a distant major against a rising horde.

(Heh, sorry for length. Got a bit carried away.)

Topic: Forum Games / Steal the Cookie (No Sign-Ups)

After a long adventure filled to the brim with all sorts of baking-and-time-travel-related shenanigans, I acquire a rare Swedish Chestnut cookie, first baked in the ancient Viking days of old and preserved to this day in the Arctic tundra. The collector, of course, is eager to trade for such an auspicious item. From him, I demand only the mundane cookie he just recently got in his collection, and indeed has yet to appraise. A small loss to him, he quickly swaps the cookies to each other’s mutual benefit. Perhaps, had he known it was in fact the first cookie in space, he may not have traded so quickly.

Deviously, I construct an anti-pressure device in which any object may be safely stored, no matter what outside pressures are exerted on it. I then chuck the mechanical sphere, with the cookie inside, past the event horizon of the nearest black hole.

Yeah, it’s basically played like Turtle’s example. The other major no-no is taking another player’s character and having them do or say stuff without the express permission of the player. An example of wrong:

Zeke
Looking around the wasteland, I notice that musclebound sword-swinging fellow, Slayer.
“Hey Slayer,” I shout to the ripped giant, “You’re a wimp!”

(Up to this point, it’s valid, but still rude and poorly-written. But then…)

NOOOOOO, THAT MAKES ME SO SAD” shrieks the surprisingly high-pitched KFC lover. He then jumps off a cliff and dies.

(It’s best to leave it up to others how their characters react to situations, unless you talk to them beforehand and they’re cool with it.)

Probably. Your character hasn’t actually been approved yet by Caleb, so it should be fine unless he decides it isn’t later.

Thanks. :)

I thought playing an Amish person in this sort of scenario would be interesting. The sort of self-reliance they have fits well into a survival situation, I think.

And I like the thought you put into Dire. Cool to see someone justifying their green hair.

Name: Zeke (Ezekiel in formal contexts) Yoder
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Equipment brought to the surface: A versatile lumber axe slung on one shoulder, an old hunting rifle slung on the other and a durable backpack between them. He also has a long, heavily-padded black coat that gives him some small resistance to attack, two sharpened trowels in the pockets of his coat, leather gloves and boots for further protection, and a black wide-brimmed hat as typical of an Amish man. In his backpack he has several cans of frozen seeds, several days’ rations and additional bullets suitable for his gun.
Brief bio: When the first scattered reports of zombie outbreaks arrived in his sleepy Amish community, Zeke wasted no time in preparing his things and heading to a rumored bunker in the city. The death of Ezekiel’s dear wife Ana several years prior to the first outbreak had left him rather detached from the community, giving him little qualm with abandoning them. Going as fast as his horse could go, the Amish man was among the last to enter the First Resistance Base.
Life in the base was not simple for Zeke, as he constantly had to compromise on his culture in order for basic survival. When the announcement came to return to the surface, the dour farmer was elated. He has big plans for rebuilding society, beginning with a new farm…
Appearance: Ezekiel is a rather grim-faced Amish man, his face often shadowed under his long-brimmed black hat. His long brown beard, however, is more obvious. He wears a long, black frock coat, with custom padding stitched in to help cushion attack. Zeke stands approximately 5’11’’ (180 cm) and is built strongly from his long life of farming. He cannot run exceptionally quickly, but makes up for it with his strength and stamina.

I conceal the cookie in the deepest reaches of Australia.
