Now if we’re talking bird law, I can go toe to toe with the best of them.

Stand down sir, this is a battle you cannot win.

Why was nothing simple? Why has today turned into such a goddamn ordeal? The situation had me extremely confused, Babatunde was attacking more of our group and now apparently there was a German terrorist? I was not following these events at all. There was the man in the orange suit, almost as soon as I set my sights on him he disappears, instead replaced by my surprised reflection. Jesus, did I always look this angry? Something catches my eye, something fast. Instincts kick in and I’ve dodged it as it blazes past my neck, aimed for vitals. I look down to see a large, jagged shard of glass. Cheeky bastard, I knew he was up to something, I just really hope Babatunde was not involved, I’m not really feeling round two, my shoulder is still pretty tender.

Great thinking Kania, leave your sword in the room, what could go wrong? Speaking of my sword, that would be very useful at this moment. Another wave of glass was about to rain down but I dive out the way. I get my feet under me and take off in the direction of my room. It was chaos, people were literally trampling each other to get away from some maniac. I seen a little girl frantically trying to get her father to his feet, he had a shard of glass protruding from his throat and was making this disgusting sound as he tried to speak. I see this orange-suited man dead, I swear it.

I reach my room, grab my sword and race back to where the battle was taking place, hoping I wasn’t intercepted on the way.

[Sorry about that, just assumed where you put “dozing off” or something of the such in your last post you wouldn’t be all aware of it.]
Kania Thyssen

He was hiding something, perhaps there was a reason he wanted me to go with him? No, I’m just being overly paranoid, if he wanted me dead he would have killed me before, not wait until we’re in public.
“I have a very hard time believing that gunshot wasn’t from one of us, we should check it out.” I say to him. I couldn’t see the man in the orange anymore. Perhaps it was just a man fascinated with seeing a black man on a boat.

“Ah, I see…” I say, obviously not believing him. I had good reason not to trust him and this other character seemed beyond shady. I seen the way they looked at each other when they didn’t know I was watching, they’re up to something. I should really go get my sword. Babatunde was formidable, that’s for sure, I’m not exactly sure I can defeat him if he does have a trick or two up his sleeve without my sword, I had an almost naked, vulnerable feeling without it.

A gunshot went off and I tensed up, but to my surprise Babatunde seemed just as shocked.
“Know anything about that?” I asked accusingly.

I stare at him uncertainly, not knowing what he was trying to pull. He sounded sincere, but I didn’t trust him.
“No hard feelings, sorry about your chest, hope it wasn’t too deep. My name is Kania Thyssen.”
Babatunde could not tell that my stare was aimed past him, at the man in orange he was talking to.
“Who’s your friend?” I say sharply, refusing to beat around the bush.

I once again glanced over Babatunde, the man he was talking with had a large grin on his face. I could sense the man’s power, but there was far too much distance for me to tell anything other than he had some magic. There was something very odd about him and the fact that I had never seen him before really made me weary of his presence. Did Ms. Applebottom send him? Doubtful. This situation is odd. Perhaps I should go over and talk to him? No, our wounds are still fresh and I didn’t have my sword, if he decided to get violent I was at a huge disadvantage.

I scanned my surroundings and seen a woman from our group, the one with them umbrella, her name was Laura. No? Laurie? Lauren! That was it. I walked up to her but she didn’t seem to be paying attention, I nudged her and she looked startled for a second.
“Did you ever see that man in the orange before?” I say to her as I subtly nod my head in his direction.

I get my room number from Ms. Applebottom. Fortunately she hasn’t mentioned the hotel fire, which is an even I’m sure me and the other pyromaniac would not want to explain. I walked to my room but I was still a mess from the hotel with my hair and clothes still wet. I could hear the other passengers.
“Poor thing, do you think she fell in because she’s blind?” followed by a poor attempt by another man to not laugh. I could also see their shocked faces, one man nudged his friend to look at me with a large grin on his face. I turned my head so our “eyes” met and twisted my mouth into a hateful snarl. His grin instantly faded and I could see him instantly become more and more uncomfortable and unnerved.

I make it to my room and undress into dry clothes. I fix my hair to the best of my abilities, it’s still not as good as I’d like it but it’s passable. I begin to exit my room but decide against bringing my sword, I’d really enjoy not having a repeat of the hotel. I check the lock on the door to make sure it’s sufficient and hide my sword behind the door, so it’s not apparent in the off chance someone does break in, when it comes to my sword I was very paranoid.

The air was crisp and relaxing and I was perfectly dressed for the temperature. I looked and seen the black man from earlier talking to a odd looking man with flamboyant looking clothing. Odd, but I decide to ignore them because my dealings with him have not gone as planned in the past. I hear the murmur of the crowd inside abruptly stop. Curious.

My face stayed stoic during her little show, even when she blew smoke in my face. Her insults didn’t phase me, but I think I would kill her at some point just for the disrespect. Another woman approaches us and tells us that Ms. Applebottom is in the lobby and less than pleased. Perfect. As she is talking, we all feel the integrity of the floor start to wane and realize it’s perhaps time to leave.
“Hope you’re pleased with yourself.” I say to the black man before I begin to leave.

As I reached the bottom floor, I seen Ms. Applebottom and “less than pleased” was an understatement.

[If it wasn’t for us the most interesting thing in this game would be child molestation.]

I grit my teeth in pain as the blade comes out, it was serrated and opened more of a wound than when it entered, I shot a glare at the shapeshifter. Bitch. I do believe Ms. Applebottom will be less than pleased, but she knew the risks when she hired a dozen mages with homicidal tendencies, I also blame my adversary for this entire situation. I glance at the black man, he seemed to be docile for the moment, so perhaps I won’t have to kill him today. I look back to the shapeshifter just as a body falls from the ceiling near her, then, without warning a flood of water comes to douse the flames with the pipes bursting above us to shower us with water.

The black man’s eyes met with my cloth and he seen a mess of a woman. My hair, while simply done as to not look too flash, was now completely ruined and hanging down the front of my face covering my eyes, which did not obstruct my vision one bit. I had the look of a drowned rat and the scowl on my face surely did nothing to improve things.
“I hope you know I hold you entirely responsible for this situation.” I say to him.

The noise I let out was somewhere between a scream and a growl as some sort of bone pierced through my arm. I looked at my adversary and he was also caught by this surprise attack. Electricity was still swimming across my sword, a very powerful charge that I’ve been channeling for some time. I raise my sword to place it against the other woman’s bone, the electricity would be enough to kill both of them if they had no magical defense. Just as I am about to place it I see the African laughing at me. I give him a queer, confused look for I have no idea what could be funny right now, he’s literally been impaled.

I then see the raging inferno behind him, an inferno I tried to prevent but ultimately caused. In our short respite, I only now heard the crackle behind me and as I turned I seen another inferno behind me. I turned back to the African, who seemed to be taunting me. I should be enraged and I should kill him right now, I have the opportunity but I cannot deny the irony. My smirk returns and turns into a full blown laugh, ignoring how ridiculous and insane we both look, I share a laugh with my foe. “Fuck’s sake.” I mutter in almost angry amusement.

All I could do was curse, it had been quite some time since my shield was broken and it was always an unpleasant experience, of course it knocked back my opponent, but the explosion was loud and left my ears ringing for a few seconds. I looked up at my attacker, he was still recovering from the blast. I gritted my teeth in anger, I clutched my sword hard and electricity began dancing around the blade of my sword, charging itself and growing in power.

The man looked up at me and as soon as I seen his eyes lock onto to where mine should be, I let loose a torrent of flames, center mass. I could hear someone cry out in terror in the hallway but I wasn’t focusing on them, I was honing all my senses in making sure another surprise attack didn’t hit me, one more and it could be the end.

If I had eyes they would have widened. The kick landed hard and took me off my feet, I hit the ground but recover as gracefully and quickly as I could. When I looked up he was gone again. My sword lit with the flames again, at least this time he wasn’t coming at me. A shadow seemed the come at me out of the darkness, when the shadow got into the light I seen it was a dagger, but I had already begun dodging. I sensed where it came from and quick as a cat I lashed out, my flaming sword biting into the darkness to reveal my opponent, who was blocking with his spear. My sword hit wood and I knew I had the upper-hand, if even for a moment. I strike swiftly and precisely, every blow a challenge to block. Finally, he parries one, and immediately launches a counter-attack, driving his spear towards my stomach. His spear caught my shield and bounced off, a event he didn’t expect considering he hesitated for just a moment, a moment I used to swing my sword downward, aiming straight between his shoulder and neck, but he once again dodged back and my steel only grazed his chest, tearing his clothes and biting into his flesh, if just a bit.

He jumps back and is about to be engulfed in shadows again, I let out a cry of anger and a bolt of lightning as I had lost my advantage. The bolt misses it’s target.

The lamp hits the ground, the light vanishes and so does he. I let a bolt of lightning go and hear a grunt of pain, I must have just grazed him because his concentration was not broken and he was still invisible. I let a torrent of flames engulf my sword to add some light to weaken his powers, but when the light reveals him he was already mid attack, a vicious lunge and a look of murder in his eyes.

His people? I see now, he has his reasons, but so does everyone else.
“Stop you? You’re asking the wrong questions, you should be asking yourself if you’re worth me killing.” I say, straightening up my stance and placing a hand calmly on the hilt of my sword. This is one aspect where having no eyes is an advantage, it’s easiest to read people through their eyes, you can really gauge their fear. Strangely, this man did not have an ounce of fear hidden in his face, he looked just as stoic as I did. Brave, so would call that a grand trait, but everything is a weakness if you know how to use it. I actually kind of liked this man, we had a little bit in common, which was rare. But, unfortunately he’s dangerous and will most likely end up getting me killed or kill me outright.

I drew my sword, just enough for him to see the steel and the runes on it. My smirk has still not faded.

Is he joking? He must be terrible at jokes if he is. Burn down the hotel? I somewhat share his sentiment, but this is not the way to do it, killing indiscriminately is a mistake and always has been.
“That sounds like a great plan and I have to say I really appreciate the warning, but there is a few flaws in your plan. For one, burning this place to the ground brings too much attention, jeopardizes the mission, makes you expendable. Perhaps they’ll pay me to be the one to kill you, I can see that being a bit of fun. Secondly, a burnt building doesn’t get you very far, now does it? Whatever disdain you have for these people I can assure you is a mutual feeling, but the destruction of this building will only endanger yourself.” I say, still keeping my smirk throughout.

I was always amazed at how needlessly destructive mages could be, I’m sure this man has his justifications and on the inside he feels that he is the good guy, he doesn’t even realize he’s not a bit better than the other people in this hotel.
“But I do have to ask, why would you want to burn this place down? Is you ‘disdain’ that smart or are you just a serial arsonist?”

That’s actually a common misunderstanding, bird law does not prohibit the owning of hummingbirds, because it’s pretty much the same thing as owning a parrot or a parakeet.

I stood up to leave, there was nothing here for me anymore, the man I was mocking and the black man had left. I grab my keys from the man at the desk and walk to my room. I am walking by one of the open doors when I seen the negro from earlier lifting a desk. I stop to observe, even going as far as to enter his room slightly and lean against his door frame, he tosses the desk out the window which forces a surprised laugh from me which alerts him to my presence. He turned to me, surprised at my presence.
“Nice throw, I too have a strong disdain for random desks.” I say with a smirk. He doesn’t look amused, he actually never really looked amused, always glaring at people, at least in my short experience. I think we may have a lot in common.

“No, it’s not.” I answer the Count’s question for him. Some people shoot me a surprised look. “Ice belongs to the woman who is not here (Lauren) and the man who just slipped out when you weren’t looking.” Of course I did not trust the people in this room, even as far as mages go these men and women were a special, deceitful bunch, especially the queen. They wanted me to reveal my power, that simply will not happen. I find that the element of surprise is as strong as any power in itself, I’d be an idiot to relinquish that so easily like the Count just did.

I did somewhat like this Babatunde fellow, the stunt he just tried to pull would have been hilarious and the mental image alone is almost enough to make me chuckle. That being said, I’m not known for my patience or my sense of humor, if he tries to fuck with me he may end up finding out what the end of my sword feels like.

I stared at the contract for a second, feeling the magic pulse off it. In my experience, the most dangerous magics are the ones that forces it’s victims to consent to, which is why I’ve had to deal with “devils” stealing “souls” when the daft cunt brought it upon himself. I once knew a Duchess who signed a contract for her dying son’s life, he survived, but I’m sure the two of them wish they had died long ago. I scanned over the contract, not leaving a single detail out.

I scanned the group of people here one last time, then, one of the more outspoken people stands up to demonstrate his power, which was essentially painting pictures. This angered me, we are about to be put up against perhaps one of the most powerful individuals on the planet in a hostile country and the support I’m giving is a group of these… clowns.
“Yes,” I say, turning my head towards him so he knows I’m addressing him, “I’m sure when we’re in a tight situation one of your pretty pictures will come in handy.” In my experience, the heat of battle rarely gives you time to draw a picture, especially when the attacks come literally as fast as lightning.

I took a seat, painfully aware of the eyes laid upon me, the negro had eaten an impressive amount of cheese by this point. There were many different magics here, of many varying degrees of power. Ice, fire, shadows, mind control, teleportation were all powers I was familiar with, fire in particular was a power I had much experience with. If I ever received a contract there was about a 1/4 chance that I would have to kill someone who possessed fire abilities, they were always reckless but ultimately predictable as well. Shadows were a power I was weary of, they’re a crafty bunch, I always had to use fire to bring light to my surroundings. Teleportation could be a bitch too, but they were always overconfident and always had a pattern figure out the pattern and the kill comes easy.

There was one man, who I couldn’t read. I could sense hints of ice and blood, but the more I tried to read the more the familiarity faded and was replaced by something…evil.

That’s what I was waiting for, someone to assume I was blind. The irony of her statement seems to be lost on her, I felt more disgust for her and her shapeshifting powers than I ever would for him for the color of his skin.
“Are any of us people you’d like to trust? You’re wearing the skin of someone, else, are you not?” She seemed slightly shocked that I knew her secret as soon as I met her.
“Thanks for the warning.” I say dryly and unkindly.
