Topic: Off-topic / What if Germany had joined the allies in WW1

The Austria-Hungary (the primary starter of ww1, contrary to popular knowledge) would have gotten crushed by the Imperial German Army in a few weeks, at the most.

Topic: Off-topic / what if germany had never sent that message to mexico in WW1?

1) The Allies would have had a collapse of moral, and the war would have been a stalemate, and ended with terms favorable to Germany, considering Germany would have a lot of land to bargain with.
2) WW2 would have happened, but not the way history knows it. It would likely be started by the Soviets, who would have felt cheated by the Brest-Litovsk treaty, similar to how the Germans felt cheated by Versailles.
3) The Nazis only rose to power by playing off of how cruelly they (the Germans) were treated at Versailles and the political chaos that occurred in Germany from a result of the treaty. So yes, the Nazis would likely have had not come to power in Germany.
4) Unfortunately, no. Communism, the scum it is, would continue to exist.
5) Pros to Central Victory: Hitler doesn’t come to power.
Cons: none I can really think of at the moment.

Assuming they held out till the Allies sued for peace: Germany would have kept all the land they conquered to the East, and much of the land they kept to the West.
Assuming they invaded and conquered France during Kaiserlacht:They would have took over all French colonies, and likely demand that the UK pay huge reparations.

Assuming the second happened, Germany would be the most powerful empire the world saw. Assuming the first happened, Germany would take France’s place as the second most powerful nation on earth.

I feel so. If we hadn’t of used the bomb, we would of had to invade the Japanese homeland, and I can assure you the battle for Japan would have made Stalingrad or the Battle of Berlin look like a walk in the park. Millions of Japanese civilians, soldiers, and American soldiers would have died.

1) Daylight bombing raids.
2) Invasion of German North Africa from the West, helping Monty to destroy the Afrika Korps.
3) D-Day (along with the UK, Canada, and free forces from German conquered nations)
4) Advance into Germany from the West, along with the other Western powers.
5) Pulling most of the wieght in the Pacific
6) Nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Also, before the war, we sent MASSIVE AMOUNTS of materiel to UK through the Lend-Lease Act.

Yes, absolutely. The invasion of Japan would’ve cost not only so many US lives, but so many Japanese lives that I would of made Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like nothing. Also, the Japanese did the same thing to China, except worse.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The similarities between WWI, WWII, The Cold War/Korean War, and The War in Iraq.

First, great questions, and lots to talk about! OK, you are right, pretty much every American war since ww2 (Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq) has had a dictator.

Have we been part of the problem, depends on what your political and military views are. In my eyes, not at all. WW2 was obviously justified, he helped crush the evil man in history. We had to stop South Korea from being a communist outpost. We tried to to help South Vietnam, and unfortunately failed. Panama was also just, we were simply trying to ensure the security of American citizens in Panama. Gulf War was absolutely justified; I don’t belive in the “War for oil” conspiracies, but having a mad man control (not to mention also threaten) so much of the worlds oil could cause so MAJOR problems. Plus, we were saving the Kuwaitis from oppression. Afghanistan, yes. We couldn’t just let Osama do what ever we wanted to us on our home soil whitout putting up a fight. Iraq, yes. Not many relize how bad a dictator Saddam really was.

To the next arguemnet, has America become to strong for our own good. No. It’s just the way we handle it. Many terrorist are angry at us for our unconditional (and at times stupid) support of Israel. They are also mad of our military presence in the Middle East. I just think we should pull ALL the troops home after Afghanistan.

I’m 100% postive I want to be a Marine officer.

Topic: Off-topic / russia vs usa 1 on 1 non nuclear war

Well, if there would be no nukes involved, America FOR SURE!!!! We have MUCH beter equipment, better training, better air support, and we care MUCH more about of soldiers. Russia, though militarily powerful, wouldn’t be a better match. The Abrams is better than any tank the Russians got, and US air power is the top in the world. Not the mention we literlally have 12 times as many carriers than Russia. But God I hope this never happens. It would be one bloody war (ww2 would pal in comparison) and one side would eventually use nukes.

Topic: Serious Discussion / Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce its military presence in foreign countries.

Yeah, we need to leave. I’m not a hippie or anything, I’m actually 100% pro-military and REALLY want to be a Marine, but here’s why we need to leave foriegn countries.
1)We don’t need to keep proteting other countries, they can do it themselves.
2)It would be really helpful to have 100,000-200,000 soldiers across the boarder to stop illegal immigrantion. I live in Ohio, and I’m feeling the affects of illegal imigration up here.
3)It could reduce crime rate to have some soldiers patrolling the streets to make sure it’s ok. In Cleveland, we just had Marine Week, and it felt MUCH safer in Cleveland with the Marines this week then when they weren’t there.
4)It’ll save the lives of MANY of America’s best men/women.
5)It will save A LOT of money that we could spend to reduce debt that our ifiot president is increasing ALL the time!!!!

Because 74 million people (most innocent) died because of greed.

Topic: Serious Discussion / The Worst War in World History

World War 1… because World War 2 only was able to happen because ww1 mad Germany bankrupt and basically third world, than Hitler swept to power, seducced the German people with lies, than we know what happened afterward. But if a ww3 happens, that would be the worst, because the only ones who would win ww3 would be the cockroaches and rats, who would have endless supplies on dead material to eat.

Topic: Serious Discussion / What if World War II never happened?

We (America) would likely have never recovered from the depression, so that could explain why in your dreams it was like 13 smaller countries and no America. Also, Stalin would likely have tried to take over Europe, and succeded, so Europe would be communist and speaking Russian. Also, the state of Israel would likely have never been created, because the reason Israel is here is because it was decided that there needed to be a home for the Jews who suffered the holocaust. But we can only make guesses, because everything today is a direct action to what happened in the Cold War, which happened in reaction to WW2.

Topic: Serious Discussion / if there was another world war would you fight in it?

Yes, we’d all die anyways. I’d rather die a quich death from a bullet than a slower death from nuclear radiation. But I guess getting killed by the nuclear blast of the bomb would be just as quick as a bullet, and death from a bullet could also take a while.

But my point is yes, because we’d all die anyways, and I’d rather fight instead of get helplessly blown to pieces by a nuclear bomb.

Topic: Serious Discussion / what if the nazis won world war 2

A few things.
1) We’d all speak German.
2) We’d all be brainwashed into the idea of “Aryan Superiority/Racial Purity”, and
3) All so called “Untermensch” (a.k.a., Jews, Slavs, gypsies, arabs, asians) would all be elimiated.
4) Also, any discontent with the regime would be brutally suppresed. You think Assad in Syria is bad, look at the way the Nazis suppressed the Warsaw Uprising at the end of WW2.

Depends what time period in my eyes. In terms of ancient warfare, the Romans. The conquered so large of a territory that the Roman empire was about as big as Australia, roughly. In terms of the beginnings of gun powder, DEFINATELY the Prussian army. The skill, discipline, and leadership of the Prussian army was without equal. WW1 was the Germans also. Look at how many Germans soldiers died compared to the amount of Allies that died. In WW2, again the Germans. They may have lost both World Wars, but both times, the inflicted casualties amoung the Allies FAR higher than they suffered. From WW2-Now, the American army. We may not have the best training (that would be the Brits, than the French, than US), but we have FAR better technology than anyone else, and some of the best officers.

Topic: Serious Discussion / did anyone really win ww2

NO!!!!!!! We could have never won it without eachother. USSR would have lost if it wasn’t for US&UK because the Wehrmacht would have been able to bring the 75 divisions tied up in the west to fight the Communists, which would have surely brought the USSR down. Without US and USSR, I doubt UK, even as good and brave as they are, could have fought the Germans, Italians, and Japanese at the same time (remeber, the brits were in the Pacific as well). And without the USSR and UK, the Germans would have won because, even though America had a larger population than Germany, the Wehrmacht, actually had 18 million men, compared to the US Military’s 16 million men. But I highly doubt Germany either could have won one on one against any of the major three as well. The Kriegsmarine would have got utterly torn up by either the US or UK military, and even if the Wehrmacht could initially conquer the USSR, the people of the USSR would eventually rise up and make the Polish undergroud look like nothing.

That’s my thoughts.
