No they are regarded completely separately.

The badge requirement is on the first page. 3.8 rating and API. The impossible requirement is not really clear to me except that it should be too hard for Greg.

I mean, it can’t be that you just dislike MMOs and are a rude person in general, I believe that you meant it when you said you didn’t want to take the spotlight away from “legit games and game developers”. So why are all your posts based off of taking that spotlight away?

For those of you coming at me for wanting badges despite being lvl 10… whats that have anything to do with it? I could care less about the actual badge, the entire purpose for me would be to increase player activity in a certain game, in this case, Rise of Champions. Its a great game and adding badges lures in new players, the more who like it and stay for many months into the future, the better.

Add a badge = loads more players = more community = game longevity and longer support by developers = more fun for the hardcore flash-MMO addicts like myself who want an online game for old computer hardware.

When you play an MMO 10 hours a day for 8 months straight, theres nothing worse than a dwindling community to eventually make you regret all the time you sunk into it, so lets get these badges on the roll for Rise of Champions and make a stronger community!

PS. Im fully aware I have no life – but those of you hunting for badges to reach lvl 65 on kong or whatever the cap is, are equally lifeless.

Do they pay you by the letter or by the word?

That guy is not even part of the staff as far as I’m concerned.

Let me close with a rant in regards to the recently-badged Strike Force Kitty 2:

Please stop badging games with extreme memory leak problems. I am frankly appalled that it received any at all. Do you actually play the game, or read any of the player comments before making these decisions? 95% of comments are complaining about the lag issue, one of them citing that flash had 1.3 million objects orphaned after playing 3-4 levels of the game. Judging the quality of a game is hard and subjective, but you should at least use the few objective measures available such as bugs and memory leaks.

Yes. The admins play through the games thoroughly before badging. Strikeforce kitty 2 had a little problem but that is not the requirement for badging. A lot of people already told this to Greg before it got badges but it got badges anyway. It didn’t stop me from earning those badges anyway and you can reduce quality.

Raze 3’s API is finally fixed for real this time, so I’m just about ready for badges there. Here’s my current plan:

Easy: 30 kills (Reigniting Old Friendships)

Medium: Earn 20 stars (Credits for Carnage)

Medium: 10 weapons collected (Gunslinger)

Hard: Complete both campaigns (Back in Time for the Perfect Crime)

Weigh in with feedback and name suggestions if you’d like!

Edit: I just realized that the API submits guns and stars earned by purchasing premium content, which makes those stats pretty trivial. I’ve asked the developer to not submit stars and guns earned through premium content, and he’s going to upload that version tomorrow morning. At that point these badges will finally go up for real! Enchanted Cave 2 is my next priority, and maybe another shorter game sometime this week too.

Sorry guys! I’ve been avoiding this thread because I knew there would be posts like this. And some of you have been PMing me…

All I can really say is that I have been extremely busy with non-badge-related work lately. And badging games in general is just becoming more difficult because the games are longer and seem to have more miscellaneous problems. Witch Hunt does not have any problems, though — the game is super-polished and the API implementation was perfect from the start. Major thanks to the developer for that! Badges are now live in Witch Hunt, but that game alone sucked up 20 hours of time.

I was on the fence about adding a second hard badge for reaching wave 10 in the tower, but I decided not to because it’s actually really easy once you grind a bit.

I am going to try to catch up on badge frequency now; I’ll update this thread tomorrow with what my priorities are. For now, though, play some Witch Hunt!

But Greg, what is your own in put about getting an assistant?
Thanks for the new badges. Loved the name witchslapped.

Its been out on kong for ages (over a year now?) and I know the developers do want badges.

Might be best to ask them, but I’m thinking something along the lines of:
Easy badge – Unlock Durain
Medium badge – Kill the Fanatic Tank
Hard – Reach lv120 and have 1K PvP kills
Impossible – Reach lv120, have 100% in your encounters list and exploration list

I’m sure the community can come up with better. These are more gridny than hard. Except maybe the encounters list (unless you’re carried I suppose, but will still take a while).
Also, as the game is being updated with new content (such as new enemies etc) should the 100% encounter list (a list of the different types of enemies you have killed) be on there?

Best just ask the devs who can then ask the community for their ideas on what might be good ideas for badges.

Sure, badges will do justice, for SFK2 has suffered a 0.4 rating drop. Not quite enough in my opinion.

I don’t know why it has three badges. It only deserves one, since it’s broken, has an egoistic, shameless dev, and laggy.

I remember the submachine games was promised badges when reuploaded with api.

Based on the fact that all those requirements just sound time consuming rather than difficult beyond completing the game which has been suggested as hard and the fact you have no impossible badges and therefore may not appreciate the difficulty usually associated with an impossible badge I think that your suggestion will be ignored.

Did I say that this was my only account? I have imposable badges on my other older accounts that I havnt been on in forever, so yes, I do know how hard they are to get…
And there are some Impossable badges out there that are time consuming…

You can’t even spell “impossible”. Seems legit.

A hard could be dispensed with altogether, since everything is probably just a matter of time, but campaign completion is long enough that just E-M (and maybe E-M-M) doesn’t feel worth the effort.


I also thought that, since a lot of the queued games are currently having API issues or need further playtesting/consideration, I’d recommend a few older games for now.

I’ll start with Raider: Episode 1, by pseudolonewolf (Mardek, Clarence’s Big Chance). It’s just at the ratings threshold, but it is there, and that speaks to the quality of craftsmanship considering it’s a very hard game. It has working API, although the stats implemented don’t cover anything easier than game completion, so there’s not really an easy badge option available. I’d recommend a medium for completing the game on any difficulty level, and a hard badge for achieving a score of 100 (score only totals after game completion, so the medium badge is inherent to it. However, negative scores are very common, and 100 points is a very difficult challenge for most people). If an impossible was desired, it would make sense to use an S-Rank (FinalRank = 5), although I’m not convinced that would be necessary.

EDIT: Name Suggestions for the recommended criteria

Space Ghost: Host to Toast (medium)
Pirates of Dark Matter (hard)
Raiders of the Lost Mark (impossible)

Greg completely ignored this when I suggested it. Just saying.

In my opinnion, Strikeforce Kitty 2 need badges, it’s one of the best games I have played here since Fancy Pants, GemCraft and Cyclomaniacs. And it’s been a long time playing and testing, believe me.

Maybe a badge for getting 100% on X levels? Making X equal nine and tying it into the whole “nine lives” concept seems like a possible idea.
