Topic: Kongregate / Do Konregate employees actively recruit games?

Regarding your first question, I could be wrong, but I’ve never heard of Kongregate asking a developer to upload a game to the site. It works more as a “if they want to upload it here, they will” kind of deal. Occasionally, Kongregate will sponsor a game, but that’s a bit different from the question. Additionally, Armor Games does have certain exclusivity rights to games for a certain amount of time. This may be subject to the sponsorship terms (exclusivity may last longer for some games) that the game receive or all games may have a set period of which they may not be uploaded elsewhere by the developer. I hope that answered a couple of questions. :D

Moderators are selected in a nomination process by current moderators. Refer to the help document concerning how to be a moderator. Simply put, users who are friendly, mature and are active in chat, and the community, have a chance of being nominated for modship.

Topic: General Gaming / Hey guys, check out BitbyBit Gaming

I thought your blog is pretty decent! Your reviews are well-written and better than most review sites that I’ve come across in the past. Best of luck in your writings and success with your blog. :D Also, if you want to post about your blog in the future, please do so in the General Gaming forum, but seeing as you have already, try to keep information regarding your site to one thread only.

Topic: Game Programming / Looking for a group...

I still think that it will be very difficult to find people unless they know what they will be contributing to. Also, make sure that you have something to contribute to the group. If you really do have a lack of programming skill, I would recommend that you learn a skill to contribute, such as programming. If you can learn the fundamentals of AS3, making more complex games will become much easier. If you feel confident with whatever you feel that you can contribute to a group (whether it be programming or art) you may look into collaborations if you’re still interested. If I was you, I would look into FlashDevelop and various AS3 resources and guides. I hope this helps in some way. :D

Hey StudioARE! You may find a programmer here, but I would suggest posting this instead in the collaboration forum. Also, if you want to find people to work on your game you’re going to need to disclose some information about it. Unless people know what the game is about they won’t be interested. Best of luck.

Topic: Kongregate / How to get Sola Rola working. (Was: How to almost get Sola Rola to work - very close.)

Do you mean the main menu Askon? If so, I couldn’t find a video, but I did find a couple of images.

Main Menu

Clockwise: Play, Sola Rola – About, Credits, More Games.

I also found a larger version of the logo.
Unfortunately, the images are pretty small and I wasn’t able to find any images larger than these.

EDIT:
Here’s a quick re-creation of the menu.
It isn’t complete, of course, and not entirely accurate.

I could re-create the menu again, and more accurately, as well as attempt to remake some of the background if we need to.

EDIT2:

I’m curious as to what the game needs graphically. Since I’m assuming that no one here is affiliated with the developer (Offtherist) or sponsor, Gimme5Games, that would mean that all of the graphics need to be redone unless they are somehow accessible elsewhere.

I remember playing this game before and really enjoyed it. :D I hope we’ll be able to get this game back up again. I’ll take levels 10-20.

Topic: Kongregate / Questions From a Future Developer

Yes, that seems to make sense UG. :D I was thinking more about how much revenue is generated based upon clicks and displays, instead of how it should, logically, be granted to developers. The method you explain also prevents abuse. :D

Yes, the game that has more clicks, based on that scenario, would receive more money undoubtedly. I edited more a little information into my first post a few seconds ago.

Topic: Kongregate / Questions From a Future Developer

When you click on an ad part of the money goes to the developer, and another part goes to Kongregate. It is not spread evenly across all of the developers – for example a more popular game might recieve $1,000 in ad revenue and a smaller game may only make a couple of dollars. I’m not sure how skipping an ad effects the revenue, but I would guess that it doesn’t effect the amount of money made.

EDIT: When you see ads that have the text “This ad supports the people who make the games. Kongregate shares ad revenue with developers.” that revenue is shared, of course. I only see this under the search ads, but it is possible that all non-game ads give a small split to all developers.

EDIT2: Yes, clicking on an ad increases the amount of revenue. There are two different ways of making revenue, seeing an ad and clicking on an ad. Usually only displaying the ad makes a fraction of a penny or more, while when people click on an ad it can grant a much larger amount based upon what is being advertised.

Thanks Knight. :D It didn’t take more than a minute or so to find it. The best way to find related images is to the URL image searcher on image.google.com (small camera in the search bar), instead of a basic image search.

Hey Bilious. Here is the original image. I recreated it, but was able to do the background accurately, so I substituted one of my own.

I’m sure I can complete it Salt. It just going to take a while and will probably be a side-project as I work on rainbow avatars.

To export the .xcf as a .gif you must go to File>Export and the file name should end with .gif. A new box will show up called “Export Image as GIF.” Be sure to check the box that says “Save as Animation” and “Loop Forever.” I usually keep my delay at the default, 100 milliseconds, The disposal can be any one of the three options. I don’t think there is much of a difference when each frame covers the entire canvas, but I always keep it at “One Frame Per Layer.” Check the last two boxes and hit the “Export” button at the bottom. You .gif will save. I hope that helps.

EDIT: How’s this Spyder?

How’s this Sportsfan?

@Smooth: It seems that I forgot to mention that. D: I thought that if you save over it, as an .xcf, that it would work then, but it doesn’t seem to do that. A simple way to fix this is to open a new canvas (140×140) and paste all 20 layers in (make sure they all end up in their own layers). This is relatively easy to do and should only take a couple of minutes. From there, you should be able to paste in the focal point that you want without any hue changes. I hope this helps. :D

You’re welcome Smooth. To create the outlines I just use a 2 px. brush and go around the edges of the focal point. Because of the small brush size the outline won’t show up too well. Simply duplicate the outline about three times and you’ll get a nice black outline. Alternatively, if you’ve already cut out the focal point you can apply a stroke layer style (I know these are available in Photoshop, but for GIMP you may need Script-Fu).

I can take special request, Salt, but just send me a PM with your request.
