Topic: Heroes of the Realm / Another synergy calc

Alright, I’ll have a think about the box input suggestion. I have noticed myself that the optional list can be pretty hard to use once you’ve got a lot of them.

Thanks for mentioning that error with the min/max of hero types. That’s a really silly bug (caused by comparing values as strings rather than integers) that I’m surprised I didn’t catch. :)

Regarding the last suggestion: making a spreadsheet style GUI thing for this calc is a bit beyond me, I think, BUT importing, like, a CSV list of all your heroes from a file that you select might well be feasible. That might make it a little easier to say ‘just use whatever other heroes I have’. Although at that point doing something like what Estava’s calc does and having ‘generic <zodiac>’ heroes might be sensible too. Hmm.

Boxed? Like how do you mean? Typing each hero into a separate input box?

Overhauled a bunch of core code, which means that ‘balanced’ mode now prunes based on stats rather than synergy. Long story short, balanced mode should be more reliable at finding the best stat-results now. Pretty sure this change has made ‘thorough’ mode completely redundant, but leaving it in for now.

Fixed a major bug in the unit type limiting, which was resulting in some weird output, and refactored a whole bunch of core code that should have sped up calculation a little.

Small update.

Added an error log that lets you know if it fails to find the heroes or collections you’ve typed, and other such issues.

Also added a ‘fill to 10’ checkbox that eliminates the need to specify how many optional heroes to use: it will automatically use as many as required to fill 10 slots.

Updated: now has persistent state – the various input fields will (should) remember your last settings. (Uses HTML5 local storage but seems to require cookies being enabled.)

Also added a ‘max requisition’ input field, for use with the colosseum or whatever.

So: pretty sure the above issue is a result of the fact that the lower-synergy hero subsets are not evaluated fully – only the maximal ones are. The listed synergy was correct, but swapping lugar and neroeru would have resulted in 220%.

Anyway, I’ve added a note that using the ‘fast’ and ‘balanced’ modes may result in this. If you see a lower-synergy result that uses heroes you’d like to use, you should probably re-check that set of heroes on its own to make sure you’ve got the best ordering, etc.

Updated it with a few little things also, such as a ‘stop’ button (which was something that was really annoying me, whenever I realised I’d messed up the input).

Sooo…

Power Week. So far I’ve seen one ‘server-wide buff’ that was not this (cynical, useless to most people) double mileage effect that’s been there the whole time: a 2-hour One More effect. I am logged in far more than an average player would be. Judging by the last 7 days, “Power Week” has been anything but.

Added in ‘guild stat bonus’ values, which are taken into account in ‘balanced’ and ‘thorough’ modes when ranking hero sets. Also tidied up the GUI a little.

Added unit type limiting, which defaults to 0 minimum, 10 maximum, i.e. effectively no actual limits. Haven’t implemented much input checking though yet so it’s entirely possible to specify, say, a higher minimum than a maximum (or vice versa), potentially resulting in no results.

Updated. The ‘collections’ entry field is now treated as ‘required’, i.e. that the results must use (the best) two of the given collections. Can still be pretty fast even with a number of collections specified. Not sure if I’ve found all the bugs yet though.

Edit – if you do find something breaks, let me know what your entry data was and I’ll have a look.

Frankly the rate at which free players get those things is so close to zero it might as well not exist.

I don’t mind the low amount of T4s so much as the practically nonexistent ability to reset skills.

And about the event. If those packages will be purchasable only with cubics then this event is kind of a dissapointment for non-paying players. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers, as they say.

I’d be amazed if they’d ‘sell’ packs that include T4Rs for anything other than cubics. :/

I wonder how expensive these Easter Packages are going to be. Kind of suspect “very”.

Added the basics of collection bonus stuff. Given how much the extra checks slow it down I’ve also added another thoroughness setting. Currently the collection bonuses are not ‘required’ things, they’re just tested against at the end so you can see which ones are fulfilled. I suspect once I add a ‘require these collections’ option it’ll speed up a little.

Also, kind of a dumb issue, but right now “Where ARE the Girls?” can’t be used, due to the existence of “Where are the Girls?”. Sigh.

I’ve been fooling around coding my own calc since Estava’s didn’t do quite what I wanted it to – as nice as it is!

Mostly I wanted to be able to choose ‘definitely use’ and ‘maybe use’ lists of heroes and see which ones worked best, as well as trying to work out how best to arrange heroes such that the more powerful ones benefited most from higher synergy bonuses.

I’m an apathetic noob when it comes to actually making webpages, so the page itself is bare-bones at best, but the algorithm is reasonable. In particular, the ‘fast’ synergy-only setting I added the other day really is quite fast. Took my (slow) computer 34 minutes to calculate 106 billion possibilities, for example, when it would’ve literally taken days before.

Teh link.

It is, yes.

It’s in JSON, and somewhat hard to read without processing, though.

So I was poking around the files the game downloads while loading, and discovered “unit_synergies_info.js” and thought of this thread – in particular the most recent post by Enfluerage.

This file appears to contain numbers corresponding to relationships between the various unit types. I don’t know what the numbers mean, but positive/negative values certainly do match up to unit types’ effective/ineffective targets, respectively.

To summarise:

          De Ra Fi Ch Ca
Defender 0 +1.1 -1 +1 -1
Ranged -1, 0 +1 -2 +1
Fighter +1.1 -1 0 +1.15 -1
Charger -1 +1.5 -1 0 +1.5
Caster +1 -1 +1 -2 0

Now, I suspect there’s far too much else to take into account for these numbers to be of any real use, but I find it kind of interesting that they’re not just all +/-1s, for one thing.

… was my post too abstruse for y’all to grasp? Because for the life of me I can’t figure out how else it could have violated any guidelines any more than the other posts here do.

Perhaps if I spelled my extremely simple point out instead: “Get a little perspective. Misplaced comments are not a big deal. If these are the things that make you mad in life, you are very lucky.”

Clearly, we would be a Ship of Masturbation. (With semen-powered engines.)

Not sure if there’s a reason why nobody’s posted the JSON API link yet, since it’s entirely human-readable.

In your case, the query would be: http://www.kongregate.com/api/user_info.json?username=johnmhawkins

The reverse is possible also: http://www.kongregate.com/api/user_info.json?user_id=11438520
