Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Senatry] Week 8 Player of the Week

Voting for Rikolas, a very cheerful and always helping person and second only to Ankit in the Troll pantheon. He has been in this game for ever, through new content and decadence and boredom, always remaining a player you can lean on and ask questions about everything.

I vote for the greatest troll ever, TK.Ankit
Just because he singlehandedly can destroy my hope in humanity through sheer trolling, all the while making me laugh.
A pure gem for entertainment, league chat and world chat too, and still remaining a pretty decent league leader, and ordinary player altogether.

Thanks for the clear-up Kailis, I was getting a bit confused about the PGs. Also I assume PG.You! who can be seen in K4 is not the same person as PG.Me!. Please clarify this one thing.

Thanks in advance,
Seyfind

@GMKailis and Pride77

Thank you both for the information, hopefully many will understand now the decisions taken in this content. Also thanks for considering the tuning of difficulty and the usability of different arrays.

All in all, thanks for the correct and helpful replies, this is a very good change from the past’s almost zero two-way communication between palyers and developers.

Best regards,

@GMKailis

Thanks for the reply, it helped to clear a few things out.

In order to be more understandable, and to see the reasoning I just want to repeat it once more, with you only having to answer it with a simple yes or no. Also, if a question remains, I’ll write it down with 1.a, 2.a etc.

1. The PGs: The choice was made by only you (the development team as a whole), and you approached those select few people to ask them if they wanted to become PGs. The system will be expanded given time and resource, but right now you are just trying out the options. This statement is that i want you to verify to be true or false.

1.a Question still remaining: If you can share it publicly, and only if you can, the community as a whole would very much like to see what was the process of the choosing. If it’s an inside thing, which you don’t want to share, that’s perfectly fine, but please do state it. Nothing is more frustrating than being without information, be it positive or negative information.

2. Map difficulty: Two things have been stated. First one is that you intentionally designed the difficulty level as it is now. Which is perfectly fine, another thing cleared, another possibity of misinformation eliminated. Second one is that you consider RS equal in terms of effectiveness to tactical builds. Engines less, but one thing at a time. Therefore adaptation is required, though not to that extent (full RS/hybrid RS/Engines to Tacticals) that was mentioned before. I can accept this statement, but I still have doubts how the required time will pay off considering the whole playerbase (people willing to retrain and share three or more heroes versus simply leaving). The statements of the previous sentences is what I want you to verify to be true or false (intentional difficulty and equal viability of two out of three hero and build types (RS and Tact).

2.a Questions still remaining: How do you give evidence that non-tactical builds are as viable as the now only seen viable Pompey-Attius-Tactical build? People want to see results that they don’t need huge timedumps (weeks) to access the new content. Guides won’t suffice. Most of the longtime players are aware of most of the synergies of the different heroes. They don’t need guides. They want simple, visible encouraging to keep on playing. Which could range from a simple battle report of a RS build using player victoring against a blue of Persia (not the end ones, beginning would suffice) to gradually see more and more non-tactical players advancing, most importantly in a consistent, averagely speeded manner.

What keeps a player playing is not his/her current state, but his/her ability to advance forward in a visible manner. If it’s not visible, the player will get bored, and eventually leave.

I do know that we are at the very beginning of this content, so I still uphold my expectations that many of us will see a C or better against Darius.

Last question, which is more like a plead: Be more communicative with us. The new GM system and the PGs are a big step forward, but most of the uproar could’ve been avoided if a few things were stated earlier (intended difficulty, the process of choosing the PGs).

Best regards,
Seyfind

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Senatry] Staff only Brutii a sign to other families?

Hi!

To throw in my 2 cents:
I try to organize them in points, so bear with me if it’s a bit long.

1. PGs. There is no problem with who have been chosen for it, Tyus and Crookus are both longtime players, and damn good of what they’re doing. The only problem people have is that this new system of helpers, the PGs, appeared out of the blue. They have no insight of the process of choosing (was it voluntary, were they approached by the dev team, and if they were, why they and not others). No information was given out of the process, and I can understand if people feel left out of it. As Andromedia said, there are several players of high quality knowledge of the game, good socioactivity and helpfulness and good overall online activity.

2. Map difficulty and the need to change. Same thing happened basically. New maps arrived, and at first sight they were so overtuned for the average player that they simply could not understand the need for it. Little to zero information was given about the difficulty, or just simply the overall learning curve. Combine this with the apparent inability to progress with about 80% of the game heroes and arrays and you get the average playerbase confused and angry.
I don’t say that you should hit both maps with a big nerfquake, but you definitely should give reasoning for it (simple as it may be: ‘We want to give tactical arrays a more prominent role in the game’). Failing to do that, people will continue to be angry at their current inability to see the new content, which will either lead to them leaving teh game entirely, or whining on the forums endlessly. Rearranging setups, retraining and sharing heroes are bothersome, long and plain boring. People WILL leave before they retrain even 3 new heroes up to 121 shared and even halfway maxed traits.

TLDR versions:
1. PGs. People can’t see the full reasoning behind the dev’s decide, moreso with the apparent brutii dominance of it.
2. Map difficulty. People can’t see the reasoning, if there is one, behind the current situation, where the now-successfull arrays are always with Pompey-Attius-mostly tacticals. Also the huge timedump people need to retrain tactical heroes instead of engine and RS is a big urge to just plainly leave the game forever.

Thanks for reading,
Seyfind
