Gingerbell lowered her sword slowly. She did not know much about how the competition rules worked, as most of her battles ended either when she killed her opponent or immediately after they said “I submit”. But this was awkward for her and Kat, as when Stryt had explained earlier, when a person in the arena says “I submit” the other immediately claims the victory.
But Kat currently had no intention to give up. Gingerbell had lowered her guard and Kat made full use of this opportunity. Succumbing to the maggots in her left arm but unwilling to give up, she sprang herself at the Holy Light card.

Stryt told the tale of how his sister had been raped and killed by a gang of corrupted Paladins to Simon. Apparently, the ringleader of the corrupted paladin was Grandan, and Stryt constantly praised Simon of how he had enacted his revenge.
But Simon’s focus was on something else. His expression was all smiles, but deep down his heart felt grim. The fact that he currently knew that he was corrupted was valuable information to his mind, but it did not cure the fact that he still killed someone – all because he was corrupted. Wanting to change the subject but not wanting to upset Stryt, he still felt that his question was more important about Stryt’s first encounter with a dragon.
“Sorry Stryt, but I have a question…” Simon said nervously.
“What is it?” Stryt asked, genuinely concerned but also slightly irritated he could not finish the tale of his encounter with a Jade Dragon.
“How do you suppose we cure my corruption?” Simon asked.
“Well,” Stryt paused, thinking about whether he should give the entire, realistic picture to Simon or adopt an optimistic tone. He decided to give the realistic picture to Simon. “There is an ancient card in Grimwood Forest which contains the power to cleanse one’s soul of all foreign spiritual entities. That would solve all your corruption problems. Realistically however, no one has ever made it out of Grimwood Forest, hence the other name people in Angelwharf gave it: The Forest of Mystery.”
Simon nodded and let Stryt continue with his explanation. “That is not the only problem, though. The spell removes most of your memories except those that you are really fond of, like a friend you’ve had for all sixteen years of your life or your mother and siblings, or the memory of an item you’ve had for your entire life. This means you will forget most of your battle skills and lose the ability of what you’ve learnt in the past five years of your life, unless they were life or death situations or things that made you really happy.”
Simon cut in. “So basically, what your telling me is that the chances of me getting that card is next to zero and even if I do find that card, I’m still screwed.”
“Exactly.” Stryt said. “But there is another way to cure the corruption. Even if there are levels of corruption in your body, it won’t have any dramatic effect unless the corruption has covered at least 30% of your body. If we can reduce it below that, the corruption won’t have enough strength to take control of your body at all.” Stryt said.
“What do you suppose the current percentage of corruption in my body is, and how do you think we can lower it?” Simon asked.
“Well, I’d say the percentage of corruption is at least 40. Above 50%, you’ll see side effects like a split personality or the loss of control for a few seconds, causing you to do things you would not want to do. Grandan’s level percentage of corruption is at least 80, where you genuinely become evil and your soul is attacked, and your conscience completely disappears. For a weak corruption like yours, the corruption can only take control of you if you are in a physically weak state or your mind is unconscious.” Stryt said.
“What I think we could do is visit a spirit doctor, Mau Chom, in Khnumhotep, a Time village near a coast twelve kilometres east from Dhagwazar. I asked you to wake up at 3am today and go to the training grounds so that we could go to Khnumhotep without Kat asking for your whereabouts. The spirit doctor is a friend of Sting, so it should be no problem getting treatment. However, the treatment is in many ways similar to rehabilitation and some of the exercises you have to undergo may be very painful and will keep your corruption at five percent. Or, if you prefer not to go through all these measures and still find a way to ease the corruption, then I’m your man for the job.”
“What is it?” Simon gulped nervously.
“Learning to use your corruption for yourself.”

2. Stop treating the freaking real life battle as a card game.

Sorry for the late chapter guys, computer crashed, but I managed to salvage the new chapter and upload from a new computer. So here it is, the battle between Patricia Gingerbell and Katherine.
As Stryt told the story of how Grandan killed his sister and explained more about corruption to Simon, Kat was busy battling a woman who made it to the semi-finals but was disqualified for cheating – Patricia Gingerbell.
Patricia Gingerbell was a slim and tall Elvish lady who wore a witch cap and swung around a long wooden staff with a crystal on top, which she believes increases the mastery of her Water-element moves. She had shoulder-length black hair with pale skin and freckles all over the bridge of her nose.
Gingerbell was not seeded because she was disqualified last year, but her skills surpassed that of Grandan’s and her spell variety exceeded two hundred cards. She would be a worthy opponent for Kat.

Even though she seemed to be a nice person, Kat knew that she was disqualified for cheating the year before and the witch cap seemed to make her more intimidating and scary. It had been a few seconds since the battle had started and Gingerbell launched a bolt of dark energy at Kat. Kat easily dodged it, but Gingerbell followed by another spell which was targeted at where she assumed Kat would dodge, and it was spot on. Undead hands reached out from the damp forest peat and grabbed hold of Kat’s ankle, and held her in place.

Kat quickly used her Spell Insight to search for a Holy Light card, as she knew it would stop the zombie hands while healing the bruises to come on her ankle. As the card floated from her leather pouch to her hands, she heard another Dark Bolt whizzing past the rainforest’s small shrubs and ferns and a cackling laughter which was later confirmed to be Gingerbell’s.
“Twenty two seconds,” Gingerbell laughed. “This’ll be the easiest win in my life! Submit now, before the Dark Bolt hits you! HEEHEHEHEHEHAHAHAHA!”
Kat was scared, but her mind worked fast, the Dark Bolt would probably belong to the Death or Darkness elements and Holy Light would dispel both the undead reaching out for her from the ground and the Dark Bolt. She activated the card fast, and a flash of blinding light shone upon her as the Dark Bolt disappeared into thin air and the undead hands wrapped around her legs lost their grip and sunk back into the ground.
“Oh,” Gingerbell said, slightly disappointed. “So you aren’t a newbie eh?”
Gingerbell broke into a grin as she drew five cards from her deck. “ARE YOU READY FOR MY SUPER COMBO?” Cackling laughter followed soon after.
’What a crazy bitch,’ Kat thought to herself, as she defensively took out two dispel cards from her deck, which was the maximum amount of the same card you could have in your deck according to the tournament rules. She was scared about the mention of a ‘super combo’, yet she was excited she could push her combat skills to the limit. She instinctively looked around for cover as adrenalin made her heartbeat rise up so much that her heart practically ricocheted in her chest as she made a half scared, half excited dash to a big evergreen tree that was five meters wide and thirty meters tall, which would make excellent cover if not for the fact most Magicians carried fire cards.
“ARE YOU SCARED?” Gingerbell screamed out heartily. “HERE IT COMES!”
Gingerbell shouted an incomprehensible verse in a spellbook which caused a dimensional portal to rip the middle of the tree open. The tree rocked precariously and threatened to fall over on Kat, which caused her to make a genuine fear fuelled dash and she could feel the edge of her bicep being scratched by a shard of ice. The pain was excruciating as it was a ‘paper cut’ and also because she was scratched in a very sensitive part of the human body. Her pain caused her to make a backward glance as she realised a Dark Bolt had just cut through a large shrub and was threatening to slice her back open if she did not dodge in the next two seconds. She instinctively changed her course and ran to the left, ignoring the increasing agony of her arm as she jumped over a rotting log, the smell of what seemed to be Rafflesia filling the air. She could hear cackling laughter in the distance and realised she had ran four hundred meters away from Gingerbell. She decided that it was her turn to make an offensive move.
She pulled out Acceleration, Congeal, and Shockwave cards out of her deck as she caught a glimpse of a fireball heading towards her in the corner of her eye. She pulled out her dispel card and casted it immediately, feeling a few milliseconds of relief before she realised a dark spell manifested in the form of dragon was whizzing past large evergreen trees and the sound of slicing bark made her shiver as she pulled out her third and last dispel card. She casted it instantaneously, her actions fuelled by pure fear of pain, adrenalin, and the thought of Simon winning and her losing the first round. She mumbled words of pure relief to herself as she realised the raging magic dragon had disappeared. “Phew,” she said to herself, until the unmistakable sound of flesh ripping and the feeling of her bicep ripping itself apart stopped her short lived moment of happiness and relief.
To her horror, she found maggots popping out of the skin of her arm as her brain scrambled to take in this increasingly urgent matter. She frantically sought a solution to the problem, until a loud shout rippled from across the battlefield.
“How do you like my little babies?” Gingerbell asked in a rhetorical manner while walking at a leisurely pace towards Kat. “You see, you got careless. Instead of using Holy Light to cure your injuries and dispel all my spells, you chose to use dispel. I guess you really are a beginner! HEEHEHAHAHAHA!”
Kat was disgusted both by Patricia Gingerbell’s laugh and the fact that her bicep was being eaten alive by maggots. She hastily drew a Holy Light card to kill the maggots as they were spawned by dark energies, but Gingerbell saw that she was about to cast Holy Light and a well-aimed Ice Shard by Gingerbell that stabbed right into Kat’s good arm caused her to drop the card. The pain was excruciating, but Kat did not want to give up the fight and struggled to move her limp arm towards the card.
“No.” Gingerbell said as she kicked the card away from Kat’s grip. “I will torture you until you die and give you a slow and painful death, or you can submit now. Either way, you will lose.” Gingerbell’s wicked witch laugh now sounded less annoying and more evil now as Kat’s spirit sunk into rock bottom. Her mind scowled at the thought of losing to Simon again as she scrambled to make a plan which could get her out of this situation. Gingerbell was already pulling out a shortsword and she only had a few seconds to escape before she got tortured by Gingerbell.
Kat’s Spell Insight still functioned properly as she dragged yet another Holy Light card into her hand using her Spell Insight, but her hand was stomped on by Gingerbell as the Holy Light card was swept away by the tropical rainforest breeze. Gingerbell laughed before holding the shortsword above her head and threatened to slash up Kat using gestures with her sword.
“Stop, I’ll submit.”

SPOILER, DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPOIL THE SURPRISE FOR YOURSELF.
The battle only ends if the loser says “I submit”. If the words are incorrect or phrases like “I’ll submit” are used then the battle does not end.
Oh by the way, Kat advances to the next round of the tournament.

3. Can the Characters obtain rare and upped cards?

1. Yes, but it’ll take an awfully long time to write out all of their descriptions.
2. Card effects are different in the story, most of them are balanced. For example, an Immortal in this game cannot be struck by physical entities (swords, spells that conjure rocks, ice shards, etc) but can be struck by non-matter (Electricity, Fire).
3. Royal creatures were actually me trying to introduce upped cards in a fashion that would fit into the story, so technically yes. And of course the characters can obtain rare cards, the Weapons of Sun and Moon are already rares.

NEXT CHAPTER IN 2 HOURS! WUZZAH!

I have edited my first post to include details of further character suggestions, as I feel that I have explained inaccurately. Dawn, I feel that Sarah could have an interesting battle tactic against Kat and I feel that she will be a strong opponent for Kat. However, I already have plans to introduce another main character, which is Connor.

Also, I will post the next chapter tomorrow somewhere at around 2pm GMT +8 because I am currently drafting out new chapters.

I’ll try to make a female character for you:
Name-Sarah
Age/gender- 15 female
Traits-speed and agility, not that strong
Spells/abilities- not too sure what to put here, maybe ice bolt, ice shield and a frozen dagger?
Race- whatever race the people in elementia are
Backstory- growing up in the frozen mountains of elementia, cards using ice and water are the only things that make sense to her. Being so used to the cold, she has developed many tactics involving ice and water eg: frozen flooding.
Physical appearance- black hair, down to shoulders. Average height (smaller than Kat) average weight, not strong but not weak, pale skin

I dunno, seems far too weak to be of any challenge to Kat, lol. Also, when I mean spells/abilities, I mean the person’s Sunday Punches (signature spells) and Core abilities. Like this:

SPELLS/ABILITIES OF SIMON
-
MARK OF SUN
Being the 23rd Warrior of Sun, Simon possesses increased physical strength and speed and can wield most weapons with ease. When the Weapon of Sun, an ancient artifact that is passed down from each Sun Warrior, is in contact with the (active) Mark of Sun, it changes form to fit the wielders current psychological state.

And the list goes on. I don’t mean like a complete list of spells, in that case it could take up to hours just listing the cards the character has. Remember, Kat and Simon are sacred warriors, we need good backstories and abilities so that the both of them can have a challenge.

When you said 250k cards, well, “can haz list”
I treat stories as games, and i want full rules on games, but im not going to expect a list :D
Also, since kat is so smart, why would she make a fat deck?

I will try and make a summary of battles.
Ahem. Here we go. Basically, in Elementia, like boxing, there are three kinds of tactics used – Physical prowess (In form of the Sage), Spell prowess (In form of the Magician), and Beast prowess (in the form of Elementalists). Sages enchant their weapons and use them for combat, mainly going for spells like acceleration and blessing that increase the user’s own capability. Sages don’t or very rarely use spells and prefer close range combat. Sages rarely use creatures. An example of a Sage is Simon.

Magicians use spells and long range combat to their advantage and are normally physically very weak. In order to cope for this, they use many speed enchantments to make up for the speed loss and most Magicians normally specialize in one element. Magicians who specialize in many, or have no specialty, are called Quantum Magicians. An example of a Quantum Magician is Kat.

Having a fat deck is not necessarily bad, and also, when I say deck, I don’t mean an Elements CCG card deck, I mean something like a list of cards, and you do not necessarily have to pick one by one from the top. Magicians have a special interface that they create to view many cards at once in their mind which is called Spell Insight. Magicians can also single out cards from their deck just by using their mind, so they do not need to search their deck to find a spell that they want.
In some cases, however, it is also better to have a thin deck so that you can draw faster (For Sages and Elementalists) as they cannot use Spell Insight to view their deck. Magicians rarely use creatures.

The last kind of Fighter is known as the Elementalists, the kind you see in Elements CCG that utilize Spells, Creatures, and Weapons as a mixed variety. However, they specialize most in Creatures, and are normally less skilled in battle than Sages or Magicians and use decks with cards of many different varieties. Connor Kopec is an Elementalist. Spoiler.

Any Fighters who do not fall into these three categories are known as ‘regulars’. Regulars are like normal soldiers, archers, paladin, etc, who cannot master Card Magic and therefore go for easier fighting strategies like normal medieval soldiers in the human world. Some powerful paladins, such as Grandan, may have marks on them and can utilize their marks Quanta powers to create their own attacks, such as Grandan’s Wave of Light.

I hope this clears up some confusion. Oh btw, if you want a list of cards, so far, there are the normal cards from Element CCG and there are so far six uncommon cards which I have come up with, which are unique ideas and thirty normal cards which are recycled ideas.
If you want a list of cards please send $2500 and a egg mayo sandwich to me or just wait for the story to progress and learn the names of new cards slowly.

Topic: Elements / The Summoning (by Dawn to Dusk)

Not trying to be rude but, dawn, just saying, when you type out a story, it is very much easier for the viewers to read if you can capitalize and punctuate properly.
Also, during the dialogue, I was a bit lost at who was saying what. But anyway, good try on a fanfic but there is much to be improved.
I will continue reading though. :D

Simon’s eyes opened again and this time he found himself in front of the entrance to dimension one, with Stryt and a few other contestants in the tournaments who had finished their matches. Grandan was part of the crowd, and Simon could not bear to look him in the eye as shouts of praise and congratulations bounced around. He jostled through the crowd quickly to make his way to Stryt, wanting to ask about Kat’s whereabouts. But he was blocked by an excited crowd.
“I saw your match,” a young man, about two years older than Simon said. “That win against Grandan was spectacular, and the way you stopped his ‘unstoppable’ Wave of Light attack. I think you were the first person to ever use the dispel card in that manner – congratulations.” The young man congratulated as he stretched out his right hand to shake hands with Simon. “My name is Connor Kopec. Second seed in this tournament, lost to Grandan last year in the finals.”
Simon stretched out his hand and shook Connor’s. “If you don’t mind,” Simon said meekly, “but there’s someone I need to meet urgently.”
Connor laughed and gave way for Simon. “Go ahead. We’ll be having a match sooner or later. Good luck, yeah?”
“You too,” Simon said hurriedly as he rushed past the excited crowd congratulating Simon for beating the first seed. Stryt had a smile on his face when Simon came to him, and he opened up his arms and signalled for Simon to hug him. He was uneasy at first, but eventually he stopped hesitating and hugged Stryt. When the hug was over, Stryt said something that made Simon feel queasy.
“That evil Grandan dick killed my sister, good job on beating that corrupt paladin shit.”
Simon was baffled, but Stryt took this as a cue to start explaining. “You see, many paladins fight the undead and darkness, and most of these creatures are very cunning and spread like viruses – some literally. But anyway, dark creatures have the ability to possess bodies and corrupt them. An example is Grandan – looks mighty on the outside, but on the inside, his body is slowly imploding from a virus and it will only be awhile before he turns to Razor.”
But Simon did not hear all of this. He heard one word that Stryt said: possess. He gulped down some fear as he asked Stryt something important.
“Umm… I have something to tell you,” Simon said, completely forgetting to ask about where Kat was.
“What is it?” Stryt asked. “Ask away, Simon.”
“Well… you see…”

After explaining to him what had happened to Simon in the human world, Stryt seemed puzzled and kept on stroking an imaginary beard. His face looked far too young and most Elvish people do not grow stubbles – and even if they wanted the stubbles, they would have to put in effort in using magic and cosmetic implants in high-tech cities to grow stubbles. Stryt thought for a while more before Simon started to ask himself whether or not the question was stupid and whether or not maybe he’d remembered the incident wrongly. But then Stryt spoke.
“I’ve heard legends of Darkness creatures leaving Elementia and heading to other worlds to find fresh bodies to corrupt and feed on slowly… After today’s fights, sneak out of your room at 3 am and meet me at the training grounds. This may come as a shock, but one thing is certain.
You’re corrupted.”

Sorry for the short chapter, but had to rush through as I only came back from home at 11, tired with blisters on my feet from hiking with my friends. Dawn, when creating characters, just use the template provided in the first post. If you want to known what kind of characters you should work on, work on arena opponents that will maybe become allies, or evil competitors that play dirty. If you can, make female characters for Kat to fight, because I’m not very good at writing fighting scenes between a man and a woman. It’ll normally end up something gross.

I am currently in need for more character suggestions for people in the competition. Please post more characters to be used for this story. Remember, you can always suggest more than one character.
Also, if you don’t mind, although this seems a little attention seeking, if you could, get your friends to read this story or talk about it in chat because I need moar readers.
Thanks.

CHAPTER 3 – DEMONS
2nd January, 2010 three years before the events of The 2 Warriors
Simon was wearing thick glasses with black frames and a lame checkered suit with a bowtie that his mother had given him. His nose was bent slightly to the left which was the aftermath of all the bullying he had gone through when he was in Elementary school. It was the first day of his new school term at Greenview Middle School, and Simon had made it to the school only because Katherine had pushed him into studying.
It was lunch break and Simon was sitting on the long grass eating a ham and cheese croissant and a can of rootbeer when a familiar voice sounded behind him.
“Hey dipshit!” a boy shouted.
Greenview Middle School was a school with high standards of education and a bully was very rare. After his brain processed the greeting from the teenager who was standing behind him, he realised it was probably Kyle, a bully from his old school. Kyle had a distinctive tone in his voice that made it easily recognisable.
When Kyle was in Simon’s elementary school, Kyle would bully Simon and Kat would always stand up for Simon and although he escaped from beatings he earned the nickname ‘gigolo’ because whenever he was bullied, or needed help with homework, or needed to borrow money, or needed protection from bullies, Kat would always help him. Simon shuddered in fear as he realised he was probably going to get beaten up by Kyle and Kat was in the cafeteria eating with her girl clique.
Simon turned around to face Kyle and quickly backed off. “I don’t want any trouble,” Simon said. Kyle wore a stud in his left ear and he was wearing a pair of stolen Nike trainers and an expensive watch. He was wearing a leather jacket and long jeans and suddenly took out a knife from his jacket and flicked it open.
Simon considered running away, but it would only be a few moments before Kyle would catch him. Simon wasn’t a nerd, but he was bone thin and could only run a few hundred meters before he lost his breath. Kyle on the other hand was a jock and was physically fit.
“I saw you talking to my girl,” Kyle said.
Simon’s brain scrambled. It was probably a misunderstanding – he did not know who Kyle’s girlfriend was – and he did not normally talk to any girls except for his best friend, Kat.
“What, who? Which girl?” Simon asked, trying to conceal the fear in his voice.
Kyle placed a fist into Simon’s gut and then slammed his knee into his thigh. “Don’t try and play funny with me, dipshit!” Kyle shouted. A circle of Greenview students had gathered around Kyle and Simon and were all laughing hysterically as Simon was being beaten up by Kyle. At this moment, it was impossible to tell whether or not they were laughing at Simon or the fact that Kyle said ‘I saw you talking to my girl.’
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about…” Simon stuttered, as he used his trembling hands to grab his abdomen. Kyle placed his knife at Simon’s neck and started talk in a menacing tone. “Kelly. I saw you talking to her, you fag. Just now she said she wanted to eat lunch with her friend. Guess who that friend was? S-I-M-O-N aka the gigolo.”
The circle of students surrounding Simon laughed, but it was still impossible to tell who they were laughing at, until one of the students blurted. “KYLE, YOU GOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND STOLEN BY A FAG!” A rowdy male student shouted, slapping his thighs dramatically and breaking into laughter. The crowd followed with him.
Kyle face exploded with rage as he held the knife out and pointed it at Simon. Simon started to shiver, not because it was cold, but because he was scared as hell. Knowing Kyle, the slightest insult would cause him to rage and start kicking and destroying things in his path. Once, Kyle had beaten up Simon very badly after he had been humiliated in front of his elementary school by Kat. When Kat was not around to protect Simon, Kyle took this to his advantage and would start to irritate or beat up Simon on purpose.
“You piece of shit!” Kyle roared, as his switchblade plunged into Simon’s solar plexus.
Simon’s mouth exploded with blood as he felt the muscles in his stomach tearing apart and the switchblade going deeper and deeper. His vision blurred and his ears starting ringing with gasps coming from the crowd. A bunch of Year Tens rushed out to help Simon, but it was all too late as his eyes closed…
Simon woke up with a jolt. His back hurt, his head ached and his solar plexus still hurt. He was found himself in a hospital, but he was shocked to see that one of his hands was cuffed to his bed and a police officer was talking to his crying mother and a saddened Kat sat next to him.
He was in an extensive care ward, and the knife was removed from his solar plexus. He started down at his extremely thin stomach, shocked to see that it was stitched up and his body was wired all over the place – he was on drip, he had electro-pads to monitor his heart rate and there was a wired stuck into his abdomen to remove the blood clot in the solar plexus.
“Kat…” Simon slurred, practically gagging because he could not talk without all the wires in his body acting up. “I need to pee.”
Kat was sleeping in the chair next to him and held flowers in her hand. She woke up with a shock. “Oh, go ahead.” She said. “It’s all wired up.”
Simon got the message and took a piss while lying down on the bed, and he watched in amusement as a tube started to turn yellow and a bag slowly filled up with yellow liquid.
“He’s awake,” Kat said to Simon’s mother.
Vivienne Kitsell was a 40 year old woman who had grey hair and was the mother of Simon Kitsell. She had an expensive Prada handbag and large gold earrings, and was missing a wedding ring because of her divorce with Samuel Regan 5 years earlier. She nodded to Kat, and signalled to the policeman that Simon was awake. The policeman and Vivienne then started to walk towards Simon.
The policeman was dressed in a long brown overcoat and was in his mid-fifties. He sported an almost bald head and only patches of thin grey hair covered his head. He was slightly overweight and a handgun hung from his belt as he made his way to Simon.
“Sonny,” the policeman said as he took off a detective cap. “I am officer Jonah Mitchum. Do you know why you are cuffed?”
“No…” Simon said slowly because of all the tubes that were stuck into his body.
“Well,” the officer coughed, and then continued his sentence. “After you got stabbed, you suddenly stood up although you were unconscious and took out the knife from your body. A bunch of Year Tens from your school witnessed the entire thing. You then stabbed your assailant to death.”
Simon gasped, but tilted into spasm afterwards because the wire in his solar plexus started nagging him.
“We’ve never seen anything like that. A boy who got stabbed suddenly stands up when he’s unconscious then takes out a knife which is stuck into his body and stabs his assailant. The headline is all over the news and your face is the top story in all of the papers. But we need to ask you a few questions.”
Simon nodded meekly.
Ever since the day that he killed Kyle, all of his friends started to become scared of him and his mother became extra-protective of Simon. His only remaining friend was Kat, and he was highly shaken up about the incident. Whenever he saw something that reminded him of death, or included the word death in it, he would throw up and start picturing himself stabbing Kyle to death. Although he hated Kyle, he was still a human being and Simon started hating himself.

After healing himself, Grandan stood up and saw that Simon was staring at him and shaking. He took full advantage of this and charged Simon head on.
Even though Simon was still visibly shaking about the incident with Kyle, he saw that Grandan was moving towards him and barely dodged a hammer blow from Grandan. His movements became sluggish and Grandan eventually managed to hit Simon with a Holy Bolt.
Simon finally became himself again when he was struck by the bolt, but it was too late. The Holy Bolt was basically a shot of pure light energy, similar to that of Simon’s Morning Star replica. The bolt tore through Simon’s flesh and tore a hole in his bicep. He screamed in agony as blood poured out of his arm as he quickly fumbled to get a heal spell.
When he finally found it, he held the heal card above the wound and was about to cast it, but Grandan kicked his arm and he dropped his heal card on the ground. Before he could reach out to grab it, Grandan stomped on Simon’s wound. Blood sprayed everywhere as Simon clutched his arm and grimaced in agony as he witnessed his own blood dying the lush green grass the colour red.
“Do you submit?” Grandan asked, albeit insultingly.
“Like I’d do that!” Simon spat.
Simon’s vision was blurry but he did not want to lose the battle and give Kat an excuse to laugh at him. He imagined himself losing in the first round of the competition and Kat saying something like: ‘How do you expect to defeat Razor if you can’t even win against a silly paladin?’ Stryt had told him that all of the injuries he experienced in this world was virtual and when he teleported back his body would be healed, but it didn’t seem that way when blood is spurting out of a hole in your bicep and you could feel all the pain.
“I didn’t think I’d have to do this, but… In the name of Luria, the goddess…” Grandan said, before raising his hammer with both hands, indicating that he wanted to smash Simon. Simon knew that if he died in this world he would still be alive in the world, but he still had a lot of energy due to adrenalin even with the hole in his bicep. He found an opening in Grandan’s attack – or hammer raise – and plunged his Morning Star replica into his ribs with his good left hand. Blood spurted everywhere as Simon instinctively closed his eyes to block most of the blood that was spraying onto his face. He heard a thud as he opened his eyes and realised Grandan had dropped his hammer and was clutching his ribs in great pain. The blood around him was a fine bloody mist and Grandan was feeling too much pain to fish out a heal card.
Simon, fuelled with adrenalin and pride, gripped his Morning Star replica with his left hand and beheaded the giant Graham. Blood gushed out of his beheaded neck as the system confirmed Grandan’s death.
“VICTORY TO CONTESTANT SIMON KITSELL. DISCONTINUING DIMENSION FUNCTIONS AND RETURNING GRANDAN VALORHAMMER AND SIMON KITSELL TO MAIN DIMENSION.”
Static filled Simon’s head again as he slowly lost his five senses.

Again, please tell me if I had made any mistakes. If there are any questions you need to ask, I will do my best to respond to them without spoiling the story.

Sweat dripped down from Simon’s forehead as he returned to Village after sparring continuously non-stop for four hours against Kat. Surprisingly, it was tremendously difficult without his Sun Mark, although his body still retained his new muscles and height. The shortswords they had used had scratch marks on them and their leather tunics had been slashed multiple times. Most of the wounds they had gotten during fight were healed up using spells, but even though physically the wound was not there you could still feel the psychological and physical pain from being stabbed or slashed.
It was two thirty in the afternoon, and the sun baked a layer of mud on the road due to the rain three hours earlier into a fine crust. They headed back to their inn, showered, and changed into normal civilian clothes. There was a tournament in a city called Angelwharf which Stryt had told them about earlier and they planned to head there later. Simon brought along his Morning Star replica and the four cards he used in the battle against Kat – Acceleration, Blessing, Congeal and Shockwave – and Kat brought along her thick forty-card deck.
They headed towards the nearby city Angelwharf where the competition is going to be held. Stryt had given them a brief explanation on how the tournament works: The tournament would have 7 rounds, using an ancient Elvish pairing system. Since they were considered newbie fighters as most people do not know the existence of the two warriors yet, they would be placed in the bottom half, and would fight a person in the upper half based on the numbers Simon and Kat drew. The battle would be fought until one participant yields, and there is a time limit of 1 hour to each battle.
After registering for the tournament, Simon and Kat drew their numbers. Simon picked number one and Kat picked number seventeen. Simon would be fighting against a previous year’s champion, Grandan Valorhammer, a paladin from the Northern Light Contingent. Katherine would be facing the 3rd seed in the tournament, a magician named Patricia Gingerbell, which was obviously a cover name.
The tournament had 256 participants, and Simon and Kat were last minute sign ups and a lot of changes had to be made to the system. Stryt warned us to always cover our marks as if any tournament officials who saw it would probably disqualify them, as illegal marks is considered cheating.
The tournament started at 5.30pm, so Simon and Kat went for a shopping spree in the city. Kat bought clothes, cards to be used for cosmetic purposes and a little plush doll sewed by a friendly old lady in the Spellshop. Simon only bought a pair of comfortable slippers, as he felt the hotel’s slippers were really uncomfortable, and some cards for Kat and himself.
It was 4pm by the time they had finished shopping, and they had agreed to meet Stryt at 5pm at the competition grounds. They had no time to go back to Dhagwazar to store their items, much to Simon’s annoyance.
“Goddamn, Kat… you buy way too much stuff…” Simon groaned, also because he had to carry stuff for her. “You’re so damn lucky you stole the 100 electrum Stryt gave me, otherwise…”
Kat was in a cheerful mood and just ignored Simon. She had found a cute shirt with a cat face sewn onto it. Most items made in Angelwharf were modern and big TV screens hung around huge shopping malls, whereas in Dhagwazar technology was much less advanced.
Kat and Simon sat down on a bench surrounding a pillar in a large shopping mall which was a 5 minute (enchanted footwear) walk from the competition grounds. Simon sat down as drank a soda which tasted absolutely like Coke, except that it was called Zero: Dark. Kat sat down and tried on a necklace which she had bought from a fake jewellery store for 3 electrum.
“Hey,” Kat said, as she tapped Simon on the shoulder. “Do I look pretty with this necklace on?”
Simon looked at Kat. “W-wow…” he said, silent for a few seconds. Kat looked absolutely stunning with her long waist length hair tied in a long ponytail with cute clippings to keep her hair in place, and had went worn a velvety purple jacket over a mini dress, the kinds which purposely allow you to show the cleavage. Her long jeans that she worn out of the hotel became a cute miniskirt and her shoes became a pair of girly sandals. “You look… pretty.” He said, slightly embarrassed. Kat spun around once, letting her long ponytail flip all over the place before sitting down next to Simon and placing her head on his shoulders. “Thanks.” She said. “I’m tired,” she yawned. “I’m gonna go to the toilet and change back into something more protective in case my opponent tries any physical attacks.”
“Oh yeah, the tournament.” Simon said. “You better hurry then, it’s already 4.50.”
*
Simon and Kat were one of the latest participants to arrive. Simon was dressed in a light brown jacket with a simple leather tunic below, to provide some defense against physical attacks while maintaining a speed advantage. He was outfitted with a pair of brown squire shoes and his Morning Star replica and another shortsword. He also had some throwing knives he got from Stryt in case anything fishy happened and his array of spells increased to sixteen. He enchanted a pair of gloves while Kat was busy shopping and is currently wearing them, although the effects of the enchantment are still unknown. Kat was dressed in light cloth armour and she was outfitted with her glove that could turn into a shield and another fitting glove she bought from the Spellshop which apparently gave her an increased mastery with fire spells. She wore a pair of enchanted boots she bought from the Dhagwazar armory and her array of cards increased from 40 to 60.
“TEN MINUTES UNTIL THE BATTLE STARTS, TEN MINUTES UNTIL THE BATTLE STARTS, PLEASE REPORT TO YOUR RESPECTIVE PORTALS.” The announcer buzzed over the loudspeaker.
Simon and Kat’s mindgate necklaces both rung at the same time and Stryt’s voice came through. “I can never trust you with time… anyway, report to your portals soon, your shopping goodies are in your room. Stryt out.”
“Looks like we’re separating now,” Simon said. “Good luck Kat, you’ll need it.” He teased.
Kat rolled her eyes as she walked away to portal 17. Simon’s portal was all the way at the other side of the training ground, so he had to run for about 30 seconds until he saw his portal and entered it.
Static filled his vision as he slowly lost his five senses.

Simon awoke on a plain filled with multi-coloured flowers and lush green grass. He panicked for a moment, until he heard a voice sound in his head, as he thought he’d come to another random place. “8 MINUTES UNTIL THE BATTLE STARTS, 8 MINUTES UNTIL THE BATTLE STARTS,” the voice sounded. Simon heaved a sigh of relief.
His Morning Star replica and his items that he brought to the battle with him were lying next to him. He still wore the same overalls, except that he was in a new dimension. He stood up and surveyed the area around him. It was pretty, but the plains had no end to them.
He saw a tall, muscular figure clad in steel plating with a large hammer standing beside him. His face held a serious expression, and scars on his forehead told Simon that the man definitely had battle experience.
“Uh… you must be Grandan? Hi, I’m Simon.” Simon said nervously.
Grandan simply shook his head. “Once we are on this battlefield, we are enemies.” He said seriously.
Simon nodded and tried to walk closer towards Grandan. He walked for about 5 meters, before he hit a forcefield. He pressed his arm against the forcefield, trying to work out the mysterious energy that was keeping him from walking closer. Then another voice rung in his head.
“PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND ATTACK YOUR OPPONENT BEFORE THE BATTLE BEGINS,” the robotic voice sounded again.
Simon sighed as he sat down on the plain.
Kat’s battle was scheduled to be held in a rainforest after Simon’s battle, as she was in battles 10 to 20. She was facing a menacingly tall Elvish lady, who wore a witch hat and was clad in a beige robe, trotting around in her witch sandals while holding a large stick with a sapphire crystal on top. Due to her scary posture, Kat could not muster the strength to talk to the lady who seemed to be a witch. Instead, she looked at the cards in her hand and tried to think out a battle strategy.

“BATTLES ONE TO TEN, BEGIN!” the robotic voice sounded in Simon’s head.
The forcefield that was keeping Simon away from attacking Grandan was now removed, and Simon made a reckless charge onto Grandan, brandishing his Morning Star replica.
“Naïve!” Grandan shouted. “Wave of Light!”
Grandan pulled out his hammer and smashed the ground. Shockwaves rippled through the ground as Simon fought to keep his balanced and momentarily stopped his dash. Out of a sudden, blades of light erupted from the ground in a line and were heading for Simon. Simon made a speedy dash to the right, dodging the wave, or so he thought.
Grandan laughed and swung his hammer in the other direction, and the wave of shining blades erupting from the ground took a sharp turn and headed for Simon. He dodged again, but Grandan repeated the action and there was no end to it.
Simon tried something different the third time the Wave of Light attack came. He drew a Dispel card and used it. Just as he hoped, the Wave of Light spell had disappeared, but Grandan was now charging towards him at an increasing pace with his hammer in hand.
Simon stood his ground and held his blade and pointed it towards Grandan. “White Autumn Assault!”
‘White Autumn Assault’ was the name of the attack Simon had pulled off the Sapphire Dragon the other day, except now more refined and stylish. Simon dashed towards Grandan faster than the naked eye could follow, and appeared behind him a second later, with his blade held with two hands and pointed forwards. Grandan suddenly dropped to the ground and a hole in his stomach started pouring out blood.
“H-holy light…” Grandan stammered, as he held out a card.
Simon did not feel remorseful when he hurt someone in this world – he knew that there were spells that could easily revert the damage. But this time, he did feel some fear in his heart when he stabbed Grandan’s chest – the feeling that he killed someone… the same feeling that he felt when he accidentally killed someone in the human world when he was younger…

“Damn, the way I killed your dragon – that was so damn cool! I really need to think of a name for that attack…” Simon said with a cheery face on him as he had won the spar against Kat.
Kat groaned of the prospect of Simon being a prideful airhead until the next time she beat him, which would probably be a long time as in this world there is no need for academics and probably the only good thing she was good at was academics.
Stryt smiled at Simon. “That killer move was awesome!” he said, before breaking into a grin. Then he glared at Kat for five seconds before huffing and looking down at his feet.
“I expect an apology,” he said.
“I’m sorry about you not going to have any children,” Kat laughed.
Stryt sighed before leading the two of them back to the village on horseback. It was 8pm on Simon’s body clock, and all three of them were raving for a nice supper. Stryt led his three horses back to his private stable and told Simon and Kat where all the good food joints were and gave them each twenty electrum to spend on food, and gave each of them a mindgate necklace which was used in the world of Elementia as cellphones.Their so called 30 minute fight extended to about two hours, when Kat pulled out another creature after the dragon died. Stryt had no way to stop the fight and was in fact quite excited to watch a battle between two warriors.
After supper, Kat used her mindgate necklace to communicate with Stryt and he told them to head to an inn. Stryt had booked an inn room for Simon and Kat to stay in. There were two queen-sized beds which were lavishly furnished with exquisite quilts and blankets. Each bed came with two pillows and some cushions, and Simon immediately built a fortress out of cushions and slumped onto it. It was a long day which they had spent fighting and exploring, complimented with only one meal, which was supper. Adrenalin had been feeding their stomachs when they were battling and the sudden hunger took Simon by surprise while he was travelling back to Dhagwazar and he had to spend twenty minutes in open grassland shitting. Not to mention the fact that Kat and Stryt were also watching him.
“I’m not sleeping with that bugger in my room,” Kat said while scowling at Simon.
“Well you have to, all the other rooms in this premium inn are booked out, unless you want to stay in another inn with drunkards which will barge into your room asking for sex and pillow sheets that probably haven’t been washed in weeks,” Stryt said.
“Fine,” Kat groaned. She took off two cushions from her bed and placed them in the middle of the two beds, leaving a gap inbetween the two cushions, forming a border between Kat and Simon.
Kat pointed to her bed. “My land,” she said. Then she pointed at Simon’s bed. “Your land. Do not go beyond this border, otherwise I’ll make your life a living hell.”
Simon was too sleepy to crack any jokes and just gave Kat a thumbs up before falling asleep.
*
Besides some books in a language he didn’t even understand, Simon had no form of entertainment when he woke up in bed at 3am. Kat was still sleeping soundly in the bed next to him.
It had been 17 hours since he first awoke on this island, and he wondered how his parents were fairing without him being at home. Maybe they had filed a police report and were frantically searching for him? Or maybe it was like those movies he watched, where when the protagonist’s own time starts to run extra slowly? As he pondered, he realised he was thirsty and went to grab a glass of water.
He put on a pair of leather slippers and walked to a desk with an empty jug and two glasses on it. He wondered for about 5 seconds as to why there was no water in the jug, and finally a found a card next to the jug called “Insta-Condensation”.
‘Interesting, people in this realm use cards like basic necessities,’ he thought to himself, as he casted the spell and watched in amazement as water droplets began forming on the inner surface of the jug, filling it up in within three seconds. He poured a glass of water for himself and drank the entire glass in two gulps, before placing the glass back next to the jug, and sat down on his bed.
He thought about this magical adventure – maybe when he got back to the human world, he could write a fiction story about his adventures in this world and become rich – if he did come back.
The words struck him hard and suddenly he realised unless he could defeat Razor and his 24 Royal Guards, he would not be able to return and he would be stuck in this realm… forever. Even though it was exciting and fun here, he had started to miss his parents, his TV, his computer, his baby sister who was just adopted the week before he arrived here. He even missed school and all of his friends.
He walked into the bathroom, wanting to wash his face and the sadness away, but there was no sink. He found another Insta-Condensation next to a large metal basin which was built into the floor. The basin had a hole in the middle which eventually led down to the sewers, along with a clog to disallow the water to flow down. Apparently, this was meant to be a sink, and Simon used the Insta-Condensation to fil up the basin before he splashed water onto his face. After washing his face and drying it on a silk towel, he looked at the bathroom mirror. The Simon 17 hours ago was a bone thin, dusty 16 year old boy with cropped blonde hair and a beakish nose. However, due to effects of the Mark of Sun, he was now muscular and had grown 10 centimeters in height, his nose was now squarish, his shoulders were broader and he actually looked ‘handsome’.
He walked back to his bed in his leather slippers and kicked them off as he covered himself with the blanket, and eventually fell asleep.
*
“Wakey, wakey, Simon!” Kat said loudly into Simon’s ear.
“OW! What the hell man!” Simon shouted back as he held his left ear with his hand, and quickly sat up and pressed his back against the wall, Kat’s voice still ringing in his ear. She was dressed in silk pyjamas and her long brown hair fell down to her waist.
“Stryt says we have a schedule, he gave me this sheet of paper last night while you were sleeping. Take a moment to read it.” Kat explained.
Simon squinted his eyes as he tried to read the messy handwriting on the paper.
SIMON AND KATHERINE’S SCHEDULES
You will be staying in Dhagwazar for another seven human weeks. During these weeks I will be giving you basic training and the basic of enchantment and utilizing decks. As you all know, there exist more than 250 thousand kinds of cards and cards are very powerful in battles, and are required to summon creatures to do your bidding, buffing an ally or yourself, healing people, or even doing the simple task of creating water. In these seven weeks, you will:
1st week to 3rd week : Deck creation, card practice
4th week to 5th week : Combat practice, enchantment practice
6th week to 7th week : Creature practice, spell practice
Stryt
“Wow,” Simon said, while rubbing his eyes. “That guy’s handwriting is super neat.”
“Now’s not the time to complain about his handwriting, dickhead, it’s already 9:05 and Stryt wants us to be in squire uniform and have eaten breakfast and arrive at the training grounds at 9:30.” Kat groaned.
“How do you know what time it is?” Simon asked out of curiosity.
“Pendulums,” Kat said. “Apparently they’re sold in three kinds: Human time, which is the normal 12 hour clock, Elvish time and Elementia Standard.”
“Cool. Oh by the way, I just found out, people use cards in this realm to do basic things like get water.” Simon.
“Wow, that’s cool!” Kat said. “We should quickly eat breakfast and get changed, I already bought two roast pheasant drumsticks from the innkeeper downstairs.”
“Okay!”
*
Kat and Simon arrived in the training ground wearing leather tunics and lime-green reinforced cloth pants, along with unenchanted shortswords and big leather boots.
“You’re late,” Stryt said. “Fifteen minutes, in fact. I have an appointment with Sting to catch later. Did you read my note?”
“Yeah,” Simon said.
“Stryt,” Kat said. “One question, why can’t we use enchantments in this exercise?”
“Oh, that’s simple: imagine one of you were mugged in the night by some corrupt knight and all of your rares are stashed back in your room.” Stryt responded. “Both of you will spar each other for four hours with only shortswords and leather tunics. If one of you get cut, quickly use these heal cards provided. I will be back in four hours with your lunch. Also Simon, you may not use your Sun Mark.”
“Why?” He asked.
“Because, the Sun Mark’s capabilities are dependent on your own physical strength. Even though it turns a bone thin man into a fit person, if you want to achieve the most out of the mark you’ll have to increase your own physical strength.”
“Fine…” Simon groaned.
Stryt mounted onto a horse and rode back to Dhagwazar, which was about two kilometres away from the training field. The horse had enchanted horseshoes so the journey was quick and from Kat and Simon’s viewpoint, he disappeared in about two seconds. The grassland was plain and empty, and the only things Stryt left behind was a pack of heal cards and bottles of water. Simon looked at Kat and shot her a ‘get ready’ look before they continued to spar for another four hours.

“Enter! Sapphire Dragon!” Kat screamed, as the mark on her left hand started to glow. She was still a little dizzy from hitting the ice barrier, but she managed to think in the nick of time to save her from losing the battle. A dimensional portal ripped open in front of Kat as a humongous blue, slender dragon with wings made from crystals emerged from the portal. Simon stared, amazed at the awesome blue dragon that was emerging out of the portal until he realised that the dragon was not on his side. He quickly turned tail on the dragon and ran away at full pelt.
“Think you can escape?” Kat sneered. “Think again. Acceleration!” she shouted at the top of her lungs.
‘Crap,’ Simon thought to himself. He tried to formulate a plan. The dragon would catch up easily and even the physical boost would not help him. He thought of taking down the dragon, but it was a towering 12 meter tall beast with wings. He knew that if he pissed the dragon off, it could easily create a powerful gust of wind with its wings and send Simon flying back. He considered attacking the beast with spells and hopefully stop it, but he did not know how much hits the dragon could take, and it would probably not stop the dragon. However, it was his best shot at winning the fight, and Simon heard himself mutter a swear word as he turned around to face the dragon.
“Shockwave!”
A ball of air appeared in front of Simon, slicing the grass it made contact with. The dragon was catching up very quickly, however it was oblivious to the spell Simon was about to cast and hit a very powerful gust of air head first.
The dragon howled as the thick scales on its legs were sliced, revealing magical blue blood that belonged to Royal Water creatures. Royal creatures were a breed of creatures that were extremely powerful compared to normal creatures. Legend says that Royal Creatures were created when the goddess Luria bestowed power onto Razor a long time ago, when Razor was just a soul after being slain by a fellow corrupt paladin. As Razor seemed to be a honest and pure soul, Luria bestowed powers onto Razor for him to become the next God of Elementia when Luria aged and died. However, Razor was infuriated at the corrupt paladin whom had killed him, and used his godly powers to create an army of super-creatures to destroy the entire paladin force. Many paladins and creatures were killed, and only twenty-four creatures remained, 2 for each element. Razor called these creatures the Royal Creatures, made them into card forms and scattered them around the universe. Luria was angry that Razor did bad, but however did not proceed to take action and remove Razor’s powers.
This was however, a fatal mistake; as Razor continued to kill more humans and eat their souls in order to satisfy his hunger, and by doing so, indirectly extended his life and his powers started to outgrow Luria. He then settled down in the Darkness Realm, taking his reign as the God of Pain and started the eternal war of Chaos and Harmony.
These events had taken place over 5000 years ago, and at the start of the first battle, Luria called up two warriors from different planets, gave them a vague note and the two weapons of the Sun and Moon. Every time these warriors died, Luria would call up more and more and more, however, as she did so, her power weakened, and weakened, and weakened. Razor created his 24 Royal Guards out of slain paladin souls, calling them his children and granted each of them powers of a Demi-god. Each time one of them was slain, Razor would pull out another soul from his eternal stash and create another Royal Guard.
But now was not the time to dwell on facts Stryt had told him, and Simon quickly charged forward towards the dragon as it was flinching in pain. Simon managed to land a clean cut along the dragon’s breast and stabbed it in the forearm of the dragon, but however it was not enough to take down the dragon.
He pulled his sword away from the dragon, and watched in amazement – and shock – as the wounds he had just inflicted on the dragon had regenerated in a flash, the cuts sealing and the scales quickly regrowing over the injured areas.
“Oh, by the way. Royal creatures have increased regeneration abilities,” Kat said, attempting to take a shot at Simon’s pride.
‘Bitch,’ he thought to himself, while wondering what it would be like in a world where you could punch a girl without your name appearing all over the papers and some prison time.
Simon was in no position to fight against a dragon without any dragonslaying equipment and a light tunic with no magical resistance whatsoever. The only way to bring down this dragon was to damage it so severely that it could regenerate its wounds.
He thought about cutting off its limbs for a second, but it would be hard to pull a blade through two meters of flesh, bone and scales, even if it could cut through anything. But he tried anyway, as his pride was telling him to ‘beat the crap outta her’ and he did not think of anything else.
He sprung up high in the air, while his Morning Star replica swung horizontally in a long arc, cutting the Sapphire Dragon’s forearm. The sounds of ripping tendons and flesh caused enough energy for Simon to lose his gripping on the blade, as it spun violently in the air before sticking itself into the open grassland. Simon was now unarmed, with very light armour and his gamble did not pay off – the dragon’s lost limb was restoring itself very quickly. Then he thought to what about Stryt said:
“A water mark would induce healing and minor shielding. There is probably no way you can kill a water dragon with normal attacks, as it’ll just regenerate back all of its injuries. You’ll have to aim for the heart.”
Even though the dragon was screaming violently and shaking its body in pain, Simon kept his cool and remembered the words of his mentor – to aim for the heart. With the Morning Star replica in hand, Simon pointed the blade towards the dragon’s heart and sprang up in an attempt to pierce it.

A NEW CHAPTER! YAY!
“Umm… Stryt, are you saying that I created a legendary weapon?” Simon said, forming a grin as he knew this would piss off Kat.
“Well, it looks like it: You’ve got everything, blade of light which slices through anything, and a practically indestructible material for the hilt. Either that, or it’s a very high quality replica of the Morning Star.” Stryt said, fairly impressed that it was Simon’s first go at enchantment.
Kat groaned as she used the sharp end of her shield which transformed from her enchanted glove to carve out words in a tree trunk. “SCREW YOU SIMON,” it read.
After listening to Stryt practically shoving down compliments into Simon’s throat for 10 minutes, she got fed up and stormed off towards Simon.
“Stryt, since he’s so good, why don’t we spar to see who’s better?” She suggested, with an obvious cross look on her face.
“Why, you jealous?” Simon teased.
This time, Kat had lost her cool. Even though she was regarded by many to be mature, calm and collected, there was one thing she hated the most; being beaten at something by Simon, whom she considered inferior. So far, the only things Simon had ever beaten Kat was in sports. She felt okay about this, as she knew Simon was an airhead with a fit body, and he would ‘never’ beat her in anything to do with skill or intellect. However, this time, she felt that she was beaten in skill, and she didn’t take it lightly. It felt as if a giant anvil had just dropped onto her pride.
“WELL, SCREW YOU!” she screamed, before plunging her left boot into Simon’s gut.
She was slow compared to Simon, who was already buffed by the Mark of Sun. He easily sidestepped the attack, went behind Kat’s back and grabbed her at the waist. While doing this, he suddenly realised how pretty he thought Kat was. She was a brunette, with waist long hair that was tied into a bun along with tanned skin due to her always going out to the beach and showing off her body. Simon’s hormones took control of him as he pinched her boob.
“YOU FREAKING MOLESTER!” she shouted as she flailed her limbs aimlessly in the air and attempted to kick Simon in the balls.
“Haha,” Simon laughed trying to conceal the embarrassment of his voice as he realised the magnitude of what he had done. He had always wanted to go out with Kat and this incident had practically made his chances zero. He scrambled to find a cool line to say to make Kat think it was all a prank and still retain his already low chances of going out with her. “Looks like we’ll go sparring then, I heard that in this realm there are healing spells so none of us can get injured pretty badly.” He tried to say coolly, although the nervousness in his voice gave the game away.
“Err,” Stryt stuttered. “W-why don’t you let go of her boob?” He said, his red face flushing with embarrassment as he had never gone within arm’s reach of any girl that he liked. Kat was the first.
Although Stryt was easily at least a hundred and fifty years old, he still claimed the looks of a handsome human teenager, except for the fact that he had pointed ears and his accent resembled a rich Englishman, which many consider to be ‘weird’ and ‘stupid’, and thus many girls did not take a liking to him. His intellectually capacity was that of a 150 year old, however his strength, emotional, and maturity capabilities were that of a teenager.
“Why?” Simon asked, while realising he now had something cool to say while making Kat think he was just playing a prank on her. “You want a feel?” He said, as he grabbed Stryt at the wrist and pulled him towards Kat.
Kat’s aimless flailing of the legs and arms hit the pulled Stryt right in the balls, and her elbow managed to connect with Simon’s leather tunic. Although it wasn’t painful as he was wearing a thick tunic, it managed to loosen Simon’s grip on Kat’s waist and she distanced herself from Simon before launching a few ice shards at him.
Stryt was still affected by the Giga Impact on his balls and could not do anything as a few ice shards flew towards him. Kat’s aim with spells was really bad, and normally her aiming would have a 5 meter inaccuracy. Normally, this would be good if they were facing off multiple enemies, but this time she was facing Simon alone and he easily evaded three ice shards and made a dash towards Stryt, destroying the two ice shards heading towards him with a long sweep of his blade.
“Not bad, hun,” Simon shouted. “Surprise attack caught me off guard, but you still need to work on the aiming.”
“Shut up!” She screamed, using the enchantments on her boots to distance herself from Simon while launching a few fireballs at him. She knew that fireballs could not be stopped if Simon sliced them, and he had to dodge it. However, she forgot that Stryt was still retching from the kick in the balls she had gave him earlier and this led Simon to carry Stryt away from the impact zone. Luckily, the fireball only scraped Simon’s leather tunic as he dashed out with an injured Stryt, and quickly put out the small fire with his hand.
“Watch it, Kat,” Simon said in a serious tone. “Stryt could have died,” he said.
“S-sorry…” Kat replied meekly.
“Now,” Simon said as he jogged away from Stryt. “When I get 50 meters away from Stryt, the real battle begins.”
“Okay,” Kat responded, eager to floor Simon in a battle. “I have some healing spells and potions in case anything goes awry.”
“Okay, I’m ready!” Simon shouted. “30 minutes to finish the match, person wins when blood is drawn.”
Kat just nodded excitably at the thought of being able to beat Simon in a battle.
“Three… Two… One… Start!” They screamed simultaneously.
As Simon did not have any ranged weapons, he immediately made a dash towards Kat. She was expecting this, and in turn backpedalled quickly with the speed boost from her boots while launching fireballs at Simon. The 3km wide open field proved to be a disadvantage for Simon, as Kat was ranged and Simon could not hide as the field had no rocks or trees, just grassland. Also, Simon only retained a small speed advantage over Kat due to her boots.
He stopped dashing for a moment to dodge the fireballs, then he opened his leather pouch to check his stash of cards he had bought from the armoury. He had four cards, Acceleration, Blessing, Congeal and Shockwave. His brain instantly thought out a plan as he continued his dash towards Kat. The distance between them was closing at a snail’s pace, and Simon decided that he needed to surprise Kat with a spell attack.
“Congeal!”
A 5 meter radius behind Kat froze up as she clumsily knocked her head into the wall of ice. Before she could even turn behind to check what had hid her, Simon had already closed in by 20 meters and she had no time to stand up and run. She quickly surveyed her surroundings to check if there was anything she could hide behind, but all she saw was open grassland. Suddenly, a brainwave hit her as she drew two cards out of her deck.

Simon’s eyes practically popped out of their sockets when he witnessed Stryt enchanting the weapon.
“Holy shit!” he said, brimming with excitement.
Kat was shocked as well, but she wasn’t excited.
“Well, enchantment will be of no use to me since I’m a magician,” she said acidly.
“Untrue,” Stryt explained, delighted to be the two chosen ones mentors. “You can enchant armor as well. A good enchantment can make the flimsiest chainmail harder than a thick metal plate. Enchanted items can also give you benefits, such as the ability to breathe underwater or the ability to not catch fire; there are thousands of possibilities.”
“Also, your mark needs time to recharge its energy. In our bodies, we each contain raw spiritual energy. The raw spiritual energy is processed by our marks to give out physical energy, or processed by spells to make the spiritual energies into literally any form, be it a fireball or a cake.”
Simon was like a puppy with two tails. He was jumping around, excited to have this new information. Styrt coughed, and continued his explanation.
“Now, I want both of you to enchant something.”
“Hmm, how about my glove? Maybe I could make it more resistant to force so I can use it to block attacks.”
“Good thinking, Kat,” Stryt smiled, glad to know that one of the two warriors was actually listening.
On the other hand, Simon was screaming sentences like “ERMAGERD I CAN HAS FIRE SWORD!” and was running and jumping around. Stryt sighed as he grabbed hold of Simon’s shoulder and told him to calm down.
*
Stryt had explained the properties of each element. A fire mark would induce offensive capabilities to an item. A water mark would induce healing capabilities and minor shielding. Earth, the element of construction, improved the resistance of items which was enchanted by it. Darkness was unknown to Stryt, as he did not own any items which was enchanted by Dark marks. Air made items feel lighter and improved speed. Light was also unknown to Stryt. Marks such as entropy and gravity were mostly random, entropy sometimes induced the ability to warp or randomly summon solid matter above the opponent, and gravity was more of a weird enchantment as Simon and Kat did not understand why anyone would need heavier equipment.
Simon’s mark of the sun combined the capabilities of Air, Earth, Light, Water, Life and Gravity, which somehow all managed to blend in to make his weapon have a white glow and feel heavier. Kat’s glove was a horrible mess, the opposite of what she expected. Instead of making her glove a solid shield to use for defence, it still felt the same and had an orange glow.
Stryt smiled. “Your weapons may feel the same now, but sooner or later, you will feel their true strength. Let’s head to the training grounds to test our new weapons.”
Simon was disappointed. He hoped that his sword would be cool and surrounded by fire, but he knew that his mark did not incorporate the abilities of the fire element. Kat felt the same way, as she suddenly realised that all of the elements in her mark did not have any shielding or solidification effects. They both sighed.
Stryt saw the two moody teens and tried to strike a conversation. “You never know,” he said. “Both of your marks are the most powerful in this realm. You may end up with an extremely powerful weapon, such as the one who belonged to the 7th Sun Warrior. His blade had the ability to cut through iron and steel, which made all enemies who dared to face him had useless armour and weapons. The only time he was ever defeated was against a Dark mage named Razorback, who had an enchanted leather robe that was impossible to cut.”
Kat and Simon got the message and wondered what their enchantments would be.
*
The entire training ground’s stash of wooden dummies had been used up by the trio. Kat had found out that when she used her mark to transform her Moon weapon into a magical tome, her glove also changed into a shield. The shield’s properties were unknown, although she knew all spells that hit the shield would be reflected back. She was content with the result however, Simon was not. He was raging in the training ground slicing and dicing dummies with his Sun dagger. He was dual-wielding with the shortsword he enchanted. He did not seem to notice any change in the shortsword, and had immediately assumed that the enchantment was useless and he had wasted his time.
“GAH! WHAT A STUPID WASTE OF TIME!” He screamed, while swinging the shortsword at the dummy.
Suddenly, his shortsword had extended in length and the whitish glow increased in opaqueness. His now longsword was a length of white light erupting form the hilt of the blade, forming a blade of light. It easily sliced through the dummy and made a clean cut, without causing any noise. The dummy’s top half fell to the ground as Simon stared at his new weapon. Stryt’s jaw dropped as he mumbled something to himself.

CONTINUATION OF CHAPTER:

Stryt paused, and continued his sentence. “The two chosen Warriors are chosen from different realms to come here by Luria, the goddess of light. She then bestows ancient power to them, entrusting them with the two artifacts, the Weapon of Sun and the Weapon of Moon… the weapons change form as the wielders emotion change…”

“What happened to them?” Simon asked.
“To make a long story short… they failed in their quest. As more and more are chosen, Luria loses more and more power… and the chances of defeating Razor are lessened… However, this generation is in luck; the chosen seem to know about their weapons…”
“Our weapons change form? Cool!” Simon exclaimed.
“You don’t seem to understand the importance of your role… You do know, you cannot go back until Razor is defeated, as Luria will not permit it. And if you choose not to fight Razor, Luria will eventually die and she cannot send you back.”
“What? So we are like slaves?” Kat asked.
“Ask questions later… for now, we need to get you better equipment. Because of the fight you had with me earlier, your clothes are all ragged. And, that soft cloth won’t do any good against enchanted swords and spells… Let’s head to the armory.”
YES! MORE FREE STUFF!” Simon exclaimed.
Stryt sighed.

Simon, Kat and Stryt walked out of the shop, Kat and Simon brandishing new weapons and armor. Simon wore a simple leather tunic with a glove on his right hand to hide his mark when it was not needed to attract attention.
Kat now wore a blue shirt and a blue glove on her left hand to hide her mark to avoid attracting attention, and now is equipped with an enchanted pair of boots that allow her to move faster as she did not have the same amount of speed as Simon.

“So… I think I should tell you more about your marks,” Stryt said, “As you know, the Mark of Sun improves physical strength and allows feats which are not normally achievable due to the laws of physics, such as performing a double jump in midair or running at the speed of sound. The Mark of Moon improves intellect to the point of being able to memorize things once a glimpse of the object is acquired or remembering spells once the caster has used it. These marks are very powerful and can make the newest squire able to fight a knight with years of experience. Now, I should tell you the other function of your marks.”
“Which is?” Kat said in a curious voice.
“Your marks contain Quanta, a magical property used to summon powerful spirits, cast powerful spells, and make spiritual contracts to improve your stats more. Quanta is measured in numbers, the strength of your Mark is very powerful, granting three quanta per hour. There are lesser marks made by powerful humans that claim to be gods, the False Gods, that only make quanta by the day, or even quanta by the year.”
“Wait wait wait, Quanta, like Elements?” Simon asked.
“Well… this world IS named Elementia.”
“Cool! So it’s like a real life version of Elements?” Simon exclaimed.
“You know Simon, even though you’re sixteen, you seem to be about an eight year old entrusted with the governments documents…” Kat said.
“Err, moving on, quanta also has another function; the ability to enchant items with your Mark’s elements. Let me demonstrate.”
Stryt took off a glove from his left hand, revealing a Water Mark.
Focusing his mind, Stryt was able to collect water energy around his fist, and then he drew out a sword. Stryt held the hand with water energy over the blade, and after about four seconds, the blade had absorbed the Water Energy.

I really apologize for not posting a thread in so long… I had actually forgotten about it as I’m trying to focus on my studies. Well, since I’m studying English it wouldn’t hurt to write another chapter, eh?
dawn_to_dusk, I already have another idea for the son of the Life God, but I’m sure he could have 2 sons. I will find a way to input him into the story.
hsizzle (whatever your name is), your character suggestion is great but I’m gonna tweak it a little to make it more interesting, thanks for the suggestion!

“I’m so tired… Kat I don’t wanna walk anymore…” Simon grumbled.
“Why are you so lazy?”
“It’s not my fault. We’ve been walking for hours on end just trying to find a city.. You’re a magician aren’t you? Why don’t you try searching for a teleport spell?”
“…fine. I’m tired too anyway.”
“Yay!”

20 MINUTES LATER

“Hmm… there is this teleport spell… It teleports us to “Dhagwazar”… What kind of name is Dhagwazar?"
“I don’t know, it sounds like some mythical name for a demon or something.”
“You sure you wanna teleport there?”
“Duhh, if it saves us some walking time.”
“Okay then…”

A flash of blue light appeared and the two warriors were warped to the city of Dhagwazar, a Water village.

“Ow!”
“Oops… sorry,” Kat said.
“Your butt landed on my… oh wait that’s a good thing isn’t it?” Simon grinned.
Kat slapped Simon.
“Ah, visitors!” An old man’s voice sounded.
Simon and Kat turned to face an old man.
“Hello, my name is Sting, and I am the Village Chief of Dhagwazar.”
“Village chief? Kinda sounds like the Millenaire mod for Minecraft.” Simon
“Shut up and listen!” Kat screamed at Simon.
“Ow! Okay, okay!”
The village chief stared at the two of them, a familiar face standing next to him. “You aren’t from this world, aren’t you…” The familiar face said.
“Umm… How do we put this… We’re from Earth.” Kat said.
“Oh, then no need to hide my identity. Hello. I am Stryt.”
STRYT? YOU’RE THAT MAN THAT TRIED TO KILL US!” Kat shouted.
“Stryt? What is this?” Sting said.
“Father, these two are the saviors of our world, the one that will save us from the God of Pain Razor… I tested them to see whether they were actually the true inheritors of the artifacts power…” Stryt said.
Stryt kneeled down. “I am at of your service, Warriors. I am Stryt, a Sage from the water village of Dhagwazar.”
“What’s with this sudden change of heart?” Kat said. “You were attempting to kill us just now.”
“I wanted to test you… please calm down, Moon. For new inheritors of this power, you have already learnt to use it properly, unlike the rest…”
“The rest? You mean there were more warriors?” Simon asked.
“Yes…” Stryt said, looking albeit sad.

It might be quite a while before you guys see another chapter. For now, just wait :D
