Topic: The Grinns Tale / Ruby/Diamond Suggestion

FB doesn’t get Socks from rallying, they get scarves, they can also gift both socks and scarves. People are always going to be annoyed about the obvious imbalance between FB and Kong, and if you think the difference isn’t massive you’re just ignorant.

Normally wouldn’t even respond to this, but you’re using numbers wrong, so I CANNOT ABIDE. I’m not even sure what argument you’re having here, I don’t think anyone is complaining about the efficiency of croissants to pies. They’re complaining about decreased playtime, or the inability to correctly farm food for their grinns if they need to. It’s also funny you ran your doc on a level 30 structure, not that it would be hard to adjust it, when this hits people who are 36 and above the hardest considering they’re the ones that go deepest in the ID.

Your values of 1 and 6 are cute, wood has become valueless, the game is entirely dependent on metal. If you look at the difference in rate gain through mines and mills, Wood is higher, and if you look at the difference between farming, Wood is at least ten fold, if not higher (i’ve never really pushed the limits of efficient wood farming since it is such a joke to begin with.)

If you wanted to make a relevant show of data (and I plan on doing this later) you would show the hunger to metal relation and the metal gain to time relation, as this would help show how much each action really costs in battle, both in terms of metal and time.

I’m not at all saying croissant spamming was right, and I didn’t think it was fun at all, but this is more of a core issue of not being able to play the game how you want because of limitation. Axolotl/Seiz keeps bringing up the concept of “sneaky energy” which is retarded, because energy games don’t work, they haven’t worked outside of phone apps since the stone ages. People don’t like to be limited in how much or how often they can play, especially if they like a game, and it doesn’t increase the chance they’ll spend money on it, if you doubt that google Zynga and see whats going on with the former Ville giant.

I started this thread on main forum, hoping to get some attention on the subject to make the food system workable.

Action Cancelling is when you click on a Grinn as soon as it’s action bar fills and it will perform the action immediately instead of going through the animation. It’s a huge gain when you get into the speed sets, and anytime you’re using a wizard or cleric because their animations are very lengthy. The explanation may sound a bit weird, but try it in game and you’ll see the difference quickly.

Would someone be able to write a simple croissant making script? Something that would just automate making croissants, even off of one bakery, so you could walk away from the comp while it does it?

Topic: The Grinns Tale / How high can they make it?

38 has 3 thumpers, also 2 thumpers and a gearhead. 39 has 2 thumpers and 2 electrical spiders, which is just RNG destruction. 40 has 2 thumpers in front of a mother electrical spider, which just sounds disgusting against t3 gear. There are waves similar to this with thrunks, although no triple thrunk waves.

I could see how this could happen, with major potting/reviving/good RNG, but definitely not in a way that would be something to brag about. You just don’t have the stats to manage what is happening. One of the bigger issues I see is with the reduced damage from being 24 and only using t3 you feed into Rage that both Thrunks and Thumpers have, which would increase their already super high damage VS your t3 meatshields.

That is pretty unbelievable, mainly because of certain floors with 3+ Thrunk/Thumper combinations, you just wouldn’t have the time to kill them without heavy use of revive pots. Now if you revive tanked it I could see that happening, but that is pure cheese anyway.

I half expected you to say you RNG’d it with refined savant gear and Shockwave spam, as I can’t really see how t3 geared toons could survive the damage output vs the high hp and defense that thumpers, and especially thrunks have.

Maybe they are accustomed with some soft asses like you :P. They formations are possible to break with t3 before floor 44. And the really high hp and softner potions were not even for them, but for grander smoker.

Show your work.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / a little bit of help

I ran double shaman, haste your healer while hes healing the knight initially, be action-cancelling both of them as much as possible. Then haste the knight once or twice and switch the haste shaman out for an archer. I was able to do up to 42 with Conq gear like this (on waves that needed it) and then finished making my Bastion. Action cancelling is an absolute must with Clerics because the cast animation is so long, and it helps immensely when you’re taking stuff on undergeared. You can also throw your berserker in front with your Knight in the top right reserve spot so he auto switches in for a free turn of healer hasting and a full healer action bar when the Knight switches.

Edit: And be ready to use health potions.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / pramins keep disappearing..

Check your inventory for pramin specific items. Other than that there is no confirmation or warning box when spending pramins so it is quite easy to accidentally spend them.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / Best place for wood?

Floor 7 or IB1. Floor 7 is the most efficient for solely farming wood and is made up of incredibly easy mobs, it also has a chest that can drop socks. IB1 is better for both wood and metal, and you can get scarves from the chest there, but may also be a bit rougher at 18 for quick and efficient farming. There may be some other new hotspots since they introduced the replay dungeon at the end of every room though.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / Getting pramins

You get the first pramin of the day relatively quickly by killing mobs, usually within 5 minutes. I’ve only ever gotten 2 once and that was when I was farming metal for quite a while.

Jonny hit all the ones I use on the head. Although I’ve noticed action cancelling cleric and wizard actions especially increases their effectiveness massive amounts, the casting animation is just ridiculously long.

Using Regen on knights goes out the window around conqueror gear, as Rage or Ricochet will almost always provide you with more healing (especially Rico 2.)

Topic: The Grinns Tale / Grinfinite Dungeon

I’ve seen some pretty impossible combinations for people without a decent amount of T5 gear as early as 13 quite a few times (and have been quickly destroyed by said combos.) Multiple Thrunks/Thumpers some behind mobs etc, stuff that you just can’t handle the damage intake without a T5 tank. The curve is really wonky and could use some smoothing out, but otherwise I think it’s a pretty fun mechanic of the game.

Awesome update Delve. Could you write hotkeys into your script for replay/go to next room? It would be nice to have the Tilde be a hotkey for replay and 4 or 5 for next room.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / what determines the number of cottages

It’s boss/story progression related. I only had 2 happiness until I beat the Grand Clank. If I remember correctly you also originally can only build 3 or 4 mines/mills, which gets upgraded to 6 along the way, keep an eye out for that.

Topic: The Grinns Tale / Rally gives "Old Scarf"

I’ve never had a problem with socks because of wood farming on floor 7, it’s the most efficient wood farm and you end up getting a boatload of socks. Scarves are also far more needed than socks, as you eventually would want most of your Grinns wearing Refined Shaman Paint, which costs 4 to make and is a huge pain in the ass to roll (0/9 norefine hero.) This change is great, and it shows that the devs are listening to the issues.

Yea the diamond and ruby droprates need to be increased quite a bit. Ideally Diamonds would be a seperate roll from the normal loot a boss drops and somewhere around the 35-50% range, Rubies would hopefully be higher since you need more. Aside from increasing the droprate from bosses they could also give all monsters a small chance to drop them, put them on chest drop tables, and give monsters an increasing chance per level to drop them in GD.
