system so that it doesn't take the coins, or, change the description (I mean tooltip, if
you prefer to call it like that) so that it says it does take coins.

Clicking it prints some information to the Breaking News (try switching to the ‘All’ tab).

Just focus on ranking up. In terms of getting more crystals, especially the CoUR, that becomes a lot easier at higher ranks. PB/ES can get you pretty far (you can actually use just that all the way until r500, since you keep keep doing DP to get stronger and stronger weapons as you rank up).

If you can spare the time, raids can help you level up faster than idling. At r250+, you have access to SD and SC, as well as the older ones like DP, SA, PHM, and DM.

As a more immediate goal, I would recommend working on being able to defeat Chuck Norris in the 2012 pub. Once you can do that, you can craft his armor (which is great for offense, and not too expensive. Yes, it is timed, but you can do a lot with it in that time).

If you do WM Foodlandistan, there is a 100% epic chance there, so there is no need to have epic rate on any gear.

Update for 3/11/2014: Changed the EXP modifiers (thanks Omesh for pointing out that they were outdated and crazye97 for pointing out that I updated them incorrectly), and added a ‘percentage of goal’ field.

Sorry about that. I think I fixed it.

I wasn’t originally going to comment anything here (because I didn’t just want it to seem like I am just hating the developers), but the new forum layout is incredibly distracting. Could we possibly have the old format back (or possibly a way to choose which version we would like to see?)

Scoring

There are two components to scoring – amount of points, and par.

The amount of points you score is calculated by taking the time left (in seconds), and multiplying it by 1000.

With regards to time, you start with 430 seconds (7 minutes, 10 seconds). Hardcore mode adds 120 seconds. Worst Moon mode adds 220 seconds. Apocalypse Mode adds 20 seconds. So, these are the initial times:

  • Casual – 430
  • Hardcore – 550
  • Casual Worst Moon: 650
  • Casual Apocolypse: 670
  • Hardcore Worst Moon: 770
  • Hardcore Apocalypse: 790

Par is as follows:

  • +0: 0 seconds
  • +1: 60 seconds
  • +2: 150 seconds
  • +3: 240 seconds
  • +4: 300 seconds
  • +5: 360 seconds
  • +6: 420 seconds
  • +7: 450 seconds
  • +8: 999 seconds (unachievable)

Recommended Skills/equipment

Equipment:

  • Special Wand (you need this, otherwise you won’t do much damage). The only things you need to enhance it with are critical chance and speed. Don’t put any accuracy on it.
  • Corrupted Elm armor (Elm armor can work too, if you can’t defeat CGT yet). It can be enhanced a lot, so that should allow you to easily max critical damage and double hit.
  • Cursed Pendant. You don’t need any attack or defense for this mission, so you can use this pendant to maximize rewards (exp, pixels, yc). Using crystals on it isn’t necessary, although using CoUR will give it some speed and critical damage.
  • Bonuses – For green bonuses, I used exp for everything (since I was mainly using the Defend Mission as an early source of rank exp on rebirths). If you find that you aren’t doing enough damage, you could switch some green bonuses to Dark Element (because everything in thee raid is light. Credit goes to kurzedmetal for noticing this). Most orange bonuses won’t effect anything, so I used non-boss damage on the wand, and boss damage on a piece of armor. For all other orange bonuses, I would recommend stun chance (credit to kurzedmetal for this suggestion), since stun helps slow the enemies down and if you have maxed the skill it often deals max damage. For purple, I would recommend a mixture of exp bonuses (with rare being the most useful).
  • Ring: If you are comfortable with the mission, I would suggest using the Experience ring. If not, you can’t go wrong with Protection ring, just to be safe.
  • IA: To maximize Exp, I usually go with either Triangle or Corrupted Giant Treeman (I’m not actually sure which is better; Triangle gives more raw Exp (90%), while CGT only has 75% exp but 35% spawn rate. But, the large bosses take more time to kill than all the other enemies. I haven’t tested to see which IA gives better exp/minute). Alternately, if you need more damage, I would recommend either CHAOS (for boss damage), or Elite Mummy/Pharaoh (for non-boss damage, although you probably won’t need that as much).

This is the set that I use (I messed up a little bit on the boots):

Skills:

  • Quick attack. Since damage in the 9001 areas is based on your level, quick attack will allow you to do the most damage (due to its speed, and the fact that it hits 3 times per attack). Quick Attack Improve, if available, will increase this to 4 hits per attack.
  • Critical Skills (Combo Critical, Critical Force, Critical Chance): use enough of these so that you can max your critical chance (95%) and critical damage (1000%). It is possible to get enough with equipment so that you don’t need to use any of these.
  • Coup de Grace. This can guarantee critical hits once the enemy is below a certain percentage of their health, and can deal extra damage when status ailments are inflicted.
  • Status effects. I haven’t noticed too much effect with these, although explosive attack can be quite useful (for dealing an extra hit of 99,999, which is what damage is capped at). It’s worth putting some points into Weaken Ability and Blind Ability just to help trigger Coup de Grace, although you shouldn’t put any points into Poison Ability because your poison chance is automatically set to 0%.
  • Reward skills.
  • As long as you have more than 1000 accuracy, don’t put any points into dexterity enhancement or accuracy boost. This is to keep your accuracy intentionally low (to increase your chances of missing if you accidentally try attacking a DON’T ATTACK!!!)

Note: If you are not confident in your ability to survive, I would recommend either wearing a protection ring, or maxing out the protection skill (455 skill points are required).

The Secret Lab

Now that the defend mission is done, you get to fight an assortment of almost identical enemies:

  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???

The strategy for this area is pretty simple: just use quick attack against everything.

All of the enemies here are bosses, so if you want to do more damage you can take that into account (i.e. CHAOS IA, cruelty ring, etc).

You can not stay here forever. This is considered an underwater area, so you will take drown damage. To increase the time you can stay there, focus on increasing your hp, hp regen, and defense. You can also use air bubbles to negate the drown damage for 3 minutes.

Clicking the arrow on the right side of the screen will bring you back to the 9001: Mystic Forest.

Some other statistics:

  • Spawn delay: 10
  • Rare chance: 100
  • IA chance: 1
  • Epic Chance: 2
  • Epic Chance in Worst Moon Mode: 10

Stage 5: Gather supplies to repair the ‘??? Generator’!’

In this last stage, you repeatedly face one of two enemies:

  • Alien Secret Box
  • Alien Supply Crate

The Alien Supply Crate is more common, while the Alien Secret Box gives a lot more rewards (as much exp/coin/pixels as the Super Alien and Alien Generator) and has a chance to drop an air bubble (a potion which can temporarily cancel out drown damage):

The following clip(s) of code indicate what causes the Alien Secret Box to spawn:

_root.areaDefendSecret = Math.pow(_root.save.arenaHealth / 150, 4);

if (_root.areaDefendProgress == 5 && Math.random() < _root.areaDefendSecret) {
nextEnemy = 229;
}

This means that the more health you have going into the fifth stage, the higher chance you have of the Alien Secret Box spawning. In order to guarantee that one will spawn, you need to start this stage with 150 hp (a perfect run – nothing can hit you. In order to accomplish this, you do need to use the shift key in stage 3). Also, the Alien Secret box can only spawn once, and if so it will always be the 6th enemy in the stage.

Defeating an enemy will cause them to drop a small amount of hp (although more than the enemies in the first two stages), and the stage will continue until your hp is full (200). This means that the more you were damage in the first 4 rounds, the longer this round will take. The ammount of hp that drops is based on how long the stage has been going:

  • Enemies 1-5: 2 hp
  • Enemies 6-15: 3 hp
  • Enemies 16-30: 4 hp
  • Enemies 31-50: 5 hp

Completing this stage will earn you (score*2) [Proof of Mission].

Just for the sake of completion, here is the exact (slightly rounded) chance of an Alien Secret Box spawning, as well as the number of enemies you will face in this stage, based on your starting hp:

Stage 4: Destroy the Alien Generator!

This is the second boss stage. In this stage, you face a single enemy:

  • Alien Generator

For the most part, you can quick attack through this stage. However, the Alien Generator will occasionally shine a thin laser on you:

When this happens, unless you feel that you are really powerful and have enough hp, I would recommend immediately holding the shift key. Shortly after, it will aim a thicker laser at you that does a large amount of damage:

Once it is done attacking, you can stop holding the shift key and resume attacking as usual until the enemy is dead.

When killed, the Alien Generator will drop 5 hp.

If you didn’t take any damage for all four stages, you should have 150 hp. Congratulations! You did a perfect run, and have guaranteed that an Alien Secret Box will spawn in the next stage.

Completing this stage will earn you 2 [Proof of Mission].

Stage 3: Defeat the Super Alien!

This is the first boss stage. In this stage, you face a single enemy:

  • Super Alien

You can just hold down quick attack through this whole stage. If you aren’t feeling confident with your damage capabilities, or are running low on hp, you can hold down the shift button when the enemy comes close to you in order to negate the damage it causes by running into you. However, you can still survive without holding down shift, but you will be unable to achieve a perfect run (which guarantees that an Alien Secret Box will spawn)

When killed, Super Alien will drop 5 hp.

If you haven’t taken any damage so far, you should have 145 hp at the end of this stage.

Completing this stage will earn you 2 [Proof of Mission].

Stage 2: Defeat all aliens… but be careful!

This stage is similar to the first one, but with the addition of one more enemy:

  • DON’T ATTACK!!!

You may not hold shift during this enemy. If you attack this enemy, it will explode, causing you to lose a large number of hp. If you wait for 3 seconds, it will explode by itself, dealing a small amount of damage (but that will be negated by the hp that it drops).

Note: it is possible to attack DON’T ATTACK!!! and miss. I encountered this on a rebirth, when I only had 2788 accuracy (which wasn’t enough to break through its 9999 evasion).

You face 25 enemies in this stage, 5 of them being DON’T ATTACK!!!. These enemies can appear at the following spots:

  • #1: 3, 4, 5, 6
  • #2: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
  • #3: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
  • #4: 17, 18, 19, 20, 21
  • #5: 22, 23, 24, 25

So, if you pay close attention, and keep track of what enemy you are on, in addition to which DON’T ATTACK!!!s have appeared, you can figure out which enemies are safe to just quick attack through (without having to wait for it to appear first).

When killed, each enemy will drop 1 hp (except for DON’T ATTACK!!!, who will drop 2 hp to make up for causing damage when exploding).

If nothing hit you, and you didn’t kill any DON’T ATTACK!!!s, you should have 140 hp at the end of this stage.

Completing this stage will earn you 1 [Proof of Mission].

Stage 1: Defeat all aliens!

This one is quite simple. You face 15 enemies, randomly selected from the following 4:

  • Attack Alien
  • Defender Alien
  • Healer Alien
  • Runner Alien

You can just hold down the x button to quick attack through this whole stage without having to worry, although I would recommend counting

When killed, each enemy will drop 1 hp.

As long as nothing hit you, you should have 115 hp at the end of this stage.

Completing this stage will earn you 1 [Proof of Mission].

Introduction

Greetings, and welcome to my very first guide – The Defend Mission. This is a work in progress, so I will continue to update this (for example, coming later tonight – formatting!). I just wanted to get this up as quick as I could. If you see any errors, or have any comments/criticisms/suggestions, please post them below.

Ingame Description
Defend the ‘???’ Generator!
Prevent the aliens from destroying the ‘??? Generator’ and repair it. Hold SHIFT to switch to Defend Mode.

How to get there

  • Enter the Hole of Time (the black triangle at the edge of Triangle Land) (rank 70 is required)
  • Click on the Year 9001 (in the top half of the middle of the screen)
  • Go to the 9001: Mystic Forest (Yellow arrow on the right) (rank 75 is required)
  • Click on the blue arrow on the right to enter the Defend Mission

The basics

At the beginning of the Defend Mission, you start out with 100 hp. Getting hit will decrease this, while killing enemies will cause them to drop items which will increase your hp. Holding down the shift key will cause you to become discolored, allowing you to go into defense mode (you will not take any damage during this time). Damage is based on your level, and is capped at 99,999 per attack.

Important Note: In order to successfully deal damage in this raid, you must purchase the Special Wand. You can find it in the crafting menu, under ‘Mission Kommander’, where you can craft it for 200,000 Pixels and 10 Proofs of Missions.

Some other statistics:

  • Spawn delay: 2
  • Rare chance: 30
  • IA chance: 3
  • Epic Chance: 4
  • Epic Chance in Worst Moon Mode: 20

Note: Turn-based Mode is disabled in this mission.
