do you not understand words

Yes, I understand words. ‘That’ as a pronoun is rather vague. I explained how I interpreted it in my first line.

Topic: Off-topic / think of any number

I thought of the number 8. Therefor, ‘that number’ is 8.

add 1 to that number

Ok. 1 + 8 = 9

subtract 1 from that number
Ok. 8 – 1 = 7

now your number = your original number

Well, my number (referring to the number I thought of) is 8. My original number (the one I thought of) is 8. 8 == 8, so I guess technically that works. Seems a bit of a roundabout way to prove the law of identity, but I’ll roll with it.

Topic: Off-topic / Is it true only people who are religous are agaisnt gay marrige?????

If we are not expected to perfectly obey everything the bible says, and we are supposed to love each other, then shouldn’t same-sex marriage be perfectly acceptable? After all, unless it is done for money/power or arranged, isn’t marriage built on the foundation of love?

Also, yes, it is okay to stray away from things that we have done from the past. As time goes buy, standards of living change, as do what we find socially acceptable. For example, at least where I live, we now live with electricity (something people wouldn’t have even dreamed of back when the bible was written), and it is not ok to own slaves (while it was way back when).

Topic: Kongregate / Kongegate Becoming TOO Adult?

With regards to stuff appearing in games that you can’t talk about in chat, I think a lot of that comes down to watching vs participating. In ‘Til Cows Tear Us Apart, the sexual situations aren’t explicitly the result of user actions. You’re not choosing an action that says ‘remove shirt’ or ‘make out’. You just choose one dialogue option, and the game fills in the rest. In terms of details, the game is also quite tame. Implied scenes actually can’t be explicit by definition (that’s just your mind inferring the details).

If you talk about stuff in chat, and go into graphic detail, that’s a different story. You’re definitely an active participant in that case, and you’re choosing to do so. Its kinda like how you can go watch a movie with a ton of violence in it, but if you actually go out and cause said violence you’re going to get in a lot of trouble. I realize this isn’t the best analogy, since violence isn’t talking, but I think it gets the point across. If not, I can try to come up with a better one.

I’ve seen talk of Johnny Rocketfingers pop up, but I can’t really comment on that because I haven’t played that game.

Also, with regards to the pixilated nudity, its brief enough, and pixilated enough, that it isn’t actually that bad. I’ve seen more prolonged nudity in PG-13 films (Titanic, anybody?)

Topic: Off-topic / PS4 reasoning?

I’ve actually been having this same though recently. Right now, I can’t justify getting either a PS4 or an xbox one. Someone else I was talking to recommended waiting until after E3, to see what new titles are announced for each platform.

Currently, neither console has a great exclusive lineup. PS4 has Bloodborne and Infamous Second Son. Xbox one has…I guess Forza and Sunset overdrive? Besides that its mostly multiplatform titles like GTAV (not sure if this has changed recently, but the last time I checked multiplatform games tended to run a little better on ps4 than xbox one), or re-released versions of last gen games (i.e. Last of Us Remastered for PS4, Halo The Master Chief collection for Xbox one). In terms of exclusive games, Wii U is easily winning this generation in that department right now.

I think I’m still going to want a PS4 (last gen I liked sony’s exclusive lineup a lot better than microsoft’s, and I also like the controller better), but I’m going to wait a bit (probably December at the earliest). This gives the price some time to go down a little more, and also more time for games to justify the purchase to come up.

Topic: Off-topic / CGI vs real effects

One of the reasons I really like Christopher Nolan’s movies is because of how much he actually does with practical effects on set. For example, the scene in The Dark Knight where an 18 wheeled truck flips over. Many directors would have done that entirely with CGI. Some directors might have done it with a small scale model. Christopher Nolan closed down a street so he could actually flip a real truck. That kind of realism really enhances the scene.

Of course. But it does mean that tracking cookies aren’t persistent from session to session, so those easily can be wiped by closing down the browser.

I use incognito for almost everything, because I am really paranoid about cookies or other tracking stuff being left on my computer (but I don’t want to clear my cookies all the time, because then I would lose my saved games here). This can be a little bit annoying when doing research (for example, I keep needing to look up various articles for my thesis these days), but that can be solved by making lots and lots of bookmarks.

Actually, there’s one right in the OT Guidelines :

What you should do is flag it and let a mod take care of it. Posting in the thread, even to say “this is inappropriate” or “flagged,” just bumps the post back to the top of the list and gives it more attention. Bear in mind that anyone bumping a spam/inappropriate thread may receive the same punishment as its creator. The more egregious the thread, the harsher the likely punishment.

Topic: Holyday City / Post if you want buy 10 buy 100 feature back

Originally posted by Darvious:

I personally would prefer the developer spend time adding more gameplay than to spend time adding a stupid toggle that most players will never use.

The idea of a toggle is that so both groups of people will be happy. If you like the way it is, will having the option for other people to play differently really going to make you that upset? If you dont want to use it, then don’t.

That being said, it actually shouldn’t take that much time to implement, so it would hardly take away from the time spent developing other things. They already have the code for how the other system works, so its just a matter of putting that code back in, and probably a few if statements to direct the program flow to the other parts of the code based on a boolean variable.

The other point is that you said it doesn’t make sense to buy exactly 100. What about buying exactly 10? Or do you just go through buying 3 at a time for everything? Personally, I like to have round numbers across the board when playing, and I dont like it when I accidentally click to buy 100 when I can’t afford it, and end up with 2961 hotels like I have now. Is that such a bad thing to ask for?

I also really liked having it so that if I had 3161 hotels, and would to go buy 100, it would tell me how much money it would take to get to 3200 (the next achievement), which seems a lot more useful than telling me the cost to get to 3261.

tl,dr: If you don’t like the feature the other way, a toggle would still give you the option to play the way you are. But why do people who did like that play style have to be punished because other people don’t?

I would be so happy if this was (re)implemented. Considering the split in opinions, a toggle does seem the best way to make everyone happy.

Topic: Off-topic / Thinking of doing a rent-to-buy for this laptop!

I guess the other thing to consider would be what are you planning on using the computer for? How much of your system’s resources (ram, cpu, etc) do you use up on a regular basis, and how much of the increased specs are you going to use up?

If you’re not going to be carrying it around, then you usually can find desktop computers that have similar specs to laptops but at lower prices. There are also towers out there that don’t take up that much room if you’re concerned about space.

Amane: a 1.8 GHz dual core processer is actually pretty bad. Thats not something I would be bragging about.

Speaksforthenoku: At a glance, the specs seem nice for that price (I’ve always liked i7’s). Personally I wouldn’t want something that large (might be harder to carry around than some alternatives), but if you’re fine with that then it doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Topic: Off-topic / ITT: talk about this

Talk about the photo? Ok!

The photo looks like its been manipulated. The face on the left has a different background coloration than the one on the right, indicating that the two people weren’t actually photographed at the same time. Also, the lower text is not only a different color than the upper text, its also a different front, and not as blurry. Speaking of blurry, the quality of the upper portion of the image shows poor compression.

The upper text also has a bunch of issues with it. Although Quran and Qur’an are both acceptable, its a bit odd to mix and match like that. Also, I think the second line should refer to it as ‘The Quran’. And why does the word ‘in’ begin with a capital letter?

Overall, 1.5/10
