Topic: Collaborations / Endeavor, an exploration game (Feedback needed!)

Thanks for the tips, guys!

I’m getting the game ready for potential sponsorship, and I’m working on improving the first ~5 minutes of the game to make a more impressive first impression. Any suggestions for this would be awesome!

Accidentally left it in debug mode! If you start a game now you won’t have the parachute, but if you started it during that period I can’t change your save data, so you will keep it.

The .swf has been replaced with a new link at

@jerimo, thanks for your concern =)

@septic- if you don’t like that ending, try finding one of the other 2!

Edit: The coins have now been changed into flowers, which seem to fit better into the world

Thanks for playing it! Great feedback and bug reports.

I’m afraid a mini map isn’t feasible for me to add at this point, but I added collectible coins that can guide you, and let you know where you have already been. Hopefully this helps!

It’s awesome that you played it all the way through! I’ve made quite a few improvements to the game in the meantime, and more feedback is always appreciated. I look forward to releasing it at the end of the month!

Hello all!

I have been working on a game this October, and I intend to finish it by the end of the month. It is built using the engine from Summit, a game I posted last month. The game is playable, but there is still some art, sound, and level design tweaks to be done.

The game can be found here:
http://zillix.webs.com/Endeavor.swf

It would be extremely helpful if anyone would be willing to give me their impressions of it. Let me know what you did or didn’t like, and what you think would make it better! If anything is frustrating, boring, or not fun, be sure to tell me!

Thanks!

Topic: Collaborations / Testers + Suggestions Needed

Thanks for the input so far, guys!

@c0rupt3d_l0l – the art is definitely programmer art =). Once I’m satisfied with the gameplay, I’ll find someone more artistic than I am to go over all of it and make it look pretty.

Also, I’ll rework the font and buttons to make them more visually pleasing.

A few response questions-

I recognize that the frequent pausing is annoying and shakes up gameplay. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The pausing was included so that the player could select buildings without worrying about getting hit. Is this unnecessary?

The planets do seem to be too interchangeable. Any suggestions for changing this? If I lengthened gameplay (so that several minutes had to be spent charging each cannon), would this help the problem, or just make the game more tedius?

Again, thanks for checking it out!

Topic: Collaborations / Testers + Suggestions Needed

I have been working on a game for a while, and I am looking for some input on how to improve its gameplay experience.

If you are interested in trying it out, it can be found here:
http://www.swfcabin.com/open/1281989989

Any suggestions or comments that you have on how to make the gameplay smoother and more enjoyable would be very appreciated!

In particular:
- how could planets be made more unique or memorable?
- how can the game sustain interest through completion of all the planets?
- how could gameplay on planets (collection, survival, and building) be made more entertaining?
- could the interface be changed to be easier to use?
- what, specifically, do/don’t you like about the game?

Bug reports, visual improvement or balance/cost suggestions are also appreciated, but are not the focus of this thread, as this is an early build of the game.

Thank you for your time!

Topic: Collaborations / Artist needed!

I’m sorry for not checking this thread for a while, I didn’t realize people would still be interested after it got off of the first page!

I have found someone for the project I had originally listed, Stellar Adventure.
However, I do have another project that I also need an artist for.

This game is called Cameran, and is somewhat more experimental. It involves taking pictures of your environment to interact with it, as well as some exploring and collecting. The objective of the game is to collect the three stars, but a side objective is to photograph every animal in the game. I would suggest playing the tutorial to understand how the game mechanics work.

The game is designed around rectangular environments, and as such will require a rectangular art style. The majority of the work will involve creating the different environments for each screen. I don’t have a particular style in mind, but I am interested in creating a dynamic atmosphere that makes each level feel somewhat alive. For some examples of styles like this, see Level Up! and Knytt.

You can find a link to the current version of the game here: zillix.webs.com/Cameran.html .
If you are interested in this project, please email me at zillix7@yahoo.com, and I will give you sample .fla file containing some of the level designs for you to work with. For the record, I use Adobe Flash CS3, but hopefully we may avoid conflicts in software versions.

I hope that some of you will find this an interesting project and will be interested in working on it!

Topic: Collaborations / Artist needed!

Hey all!

I’m looking for an artist to work with me on my next game. So far, the only flash game that I have published is run.don’t.stop. I started this ‘new’ game a while time ago, so the majority of it is in place and completed. Anyone interested can play the current version here : http://zillix.webs.com/StellarAdventure.html .

Even if you aren’t interested in working with me, I’m always happy to hear any feedback on it!

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll check out whatever work you have posted on your profile (if you don’t have any currently, a sample would be nice =D )

I can discuss distribution/sponsorship with whoever I work with, since I don’t have much experience with this and don’t have any definite plans yet. I do plan on sharing anywhere from 20-50% of any profit that it does make (we can work this out).

Let me know if you need more information. I look forward to finding someone to work with!
