At college, we were always free to leave immediately upon completing exams. For the high school state standardized exams, however, (which were taken by the whole school at once) we had to wait until at least the number of students still taking the exam could fit into a single area until we could leave the room. This could easily take 3-4 hours for fast test-takers like myself.

I’ll sign for the next game even though I still don’t fully understand this. Maybe actually playing it will help.

Same. Unity works fine for me in Firefox, but Flash doesn’t work in Firefox… so Unity games are still essentially unplayable for me. (I have been successful in submitting missing badge reports for Unity games, but that doesn’t work for tournaments.)

That seems like something scum could abuse. so only do it for games where RNG makes me scum

This was actually the standard on the site I originally played Mafia on. (MafiaScum does have a deadline; but it’s generally 2 weeks long, and if there’s no majority at deadline, then no lynch occurs.) Ideally this would be applied here, but as adv0 pointed out, inactivity would be the likely result of such a rule on Kong. I don’t see how scum could abuse it, at any rate—if anything, the scum win rate with the rule is lower than it is on Kong.

If you want the day to be shorter, get a majority lynch.

It’s occurred to me that options to extend day phases in mafia games are becoming increasingly popular; and the extensions are almost always approved by the players unless the number of extensions is limited by the host. So why don’t we just make day phases longer by default? Instead of 4 days with a 2-day extension, just make them 6 days (or a round week) and be done with it?

I’m sure the voting mechanic will work against me at some point, but I haven’t had a good gaming challenge in a while. Let’s do this.

still, it might sound backhanded, but next time maybe don’t take it to heart? i’d like to believe it’s possible for this community to poke a bit of fun at each other with some relatively neutral words on the internet without it being considered a world war three level conflict

This. Please.

Topic: Kongregate / Upcoming Badges! [Suggest new badges here]

To support Bluji’s comment:

However, it is unlikely that I will spend much time digging through old games for badges (honestly, this is a ton of work relative to how productive it is, and I spent too much time on it last year with very little to show for it), and it’s also unlikely that the ratings threshold for new badges will be significantly lowered. It’s more important for us to focus on featuring the absolute best content that the site has to offer, and it’s also important for me to focus on doing the things that will help the company succeed as much as possible.

Topic: Kongregate / Game ratings

Most likely ratings would generally go up, especially for badged games and/or games with a decent fan base.

People who played a game once and rated it poorly won’t come back to re-rate it, so the only players left to rate the game would be those who still are fans of the game and play it on multiple occasions anyway. Thus the games will have higher ratings (similar to how games generally drop in ratings once they get badges and are exposed to a general audience broader than just fans of the game. The reset of ratings would basically undo the drop.)

Topic: Kongregate / Why is Kong's highscore boards so easy to hack?

Kongregate used to remove hacked high scores upon request, but the sheer volume of requests means that they can’t do it anymore. That and it’s difficult for someone not familiar with the game in question to know if a particular score is hacked or not. That’s why there’s a bot that’s theoretically designed to automatically remove hacked high scores—but it removes legitimate scores about as often as it removes hacked scores.
