Actually I never was a gamer of any sort. Basically DO is the first time I ever played something more complex than Bubble Witch Saga… and it’s fun. It also takes a lot of time, so with work and kids and everything I drop out of sight for a while, just tending my dungeons quietly, and then pop up again.

In general, I see a harder and harsher divide between the sexes now than in the 80s, when I was a kid. Everything is bloody genderized, and though I don’t mind my daughters having their pinks and glittery stuff, why the f*** does eveything have to be either Barbie or He-Man? I see less of the nerd girls now, fewer boys playing with a doll house, there’s a weird sort of backlash that makes me think we are in for worse and more old-fashioned times. Which sucks big time.

Anyhow, it’s often the men and boys who claim there’s no sexism. It’s like me whiteskin telling some POC there’s no racism out there. Shouldn’t we go talk to the people affected by it? I personally don’t get troubled by it much, I can be very forceful and I am in a position where I don’t have to take every sort of shit.

As far as DO goes, my username invites comment, and I like to play along. Why not? Someone using it as a bad comeon will soon know what to expect. If some juvenile delinquent with little command of written language starts making an ass out of himself, I am happy to help him along.

Thank you very much for listening to the player base! Looks like I get to spend some money after all here. :-)

I am amused, however, how the uproar became “community comments” in the official statement. Pellets, I know you’ve got to be diplomatic and all that, but your wording doesn’t exactly reflect the sentiments on the forum. Nonetheless, I understand that yours is not the easiest of jobs and I for one am glad for your continuing calm. Sometimes I wish you’d sound less like a politician, but I guess being a kind of diplomat you know what you’re doing.

Thank you for keeping the communication channels open, it saved game for us players and in the long run for NOG as well. I hope next time, NOG will give out info on large changes earlier, so we can prepare and discuss things in advance. And I dearly hope the developers remember that Beta testing is officially over!

I would prefer a system like the training queue, with the total resources displayed. It works well with training, I’d think the method transfers well to room upgrades.

Yes, please, to have new players have a chance to get into the game, shorten the time for the lower level upgrades. If new players can’t compete eventually with older players, keeping them attracted to the game will be a lot harder. Also, if your goal includes having mobile warbases, speed in relocating and getting ready to fight is mandatory.

The room levels shouldn’t be visible all the time, only on hovering or clicking.

Queuing would certainly help a lot. As I said previously, during the work week I can access the game only mornings and evening, and I am surely far from the only person.

Something that you may think small but is bothering me greatly: would the team please remove those ugly level numbers on the room? They could be visible when hovering the mouse over it or on single clicking the room, but like this it’s really nasty. One thing I enjoy about the game is the visuals.

Thank you for responding so fast and civilly! A number of us have invested more into the game than we’d planned on because of the community. We’d hate to lose that. Your reaction is well appreciated.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Dungeon Overlord] Pitch fork time.

While in general I like the idea of incremental smaller steps, they should be “stackable”, as the levels for creatures. As for the price, you cannot compare level 16 to 17 with level 4 to 5- you have to add up all the increments. And then you’ll see where the calculations are wayyy off base. Don’t try to sell this as “almost the same price”, because it isn’t. Maybe you want to slow down progress, who knows. But please don’t tell blatant lies anybody with a calculator, or even pen and paper, and access to the data, can disprove.

I hope noone here grudges NOG the money they make off paying customers. Actually, I had been waiting for November to come to join the paying base. Now I’m going to wait and see. If the new system requires me to log on every hour or more, I’ll quit. Downgrading with clicking every half hour? Not going to happen, so redesign won’t happen, so a lot of the appeal (trying out new layouts for different tasks) is just gone.

Please remember that a paying player base is one that works. And noone will risk their job just to log into DO every half hour. Reflect that in your changes, and you will win back a lot of people you are at risk of losing now.

Seriously, you have a good game going, I like your support team, I know you and the NOG team need to be payed. But sometimes I think you get so embroiled in your world of constant online life, you forget that the majority of players cannot do this.
