ban all noobs
This exerpt from the urban dictionary is a how i tend to view the differences between newb and noob
Noobs vs. Newbs
Share on twitter Share on facebook Share on more
48 up, 12 down
This is meant to distinguish between noobs and newbs, which can be very difficult to tell apart, based on behavior.
NOOBS: Rely on cheap tactics to barely finish second-to-last on the team, and often blame others for their mistakes.
Noobs have no ambition to get better at the game they fail at, and are happy just pissing off the rest of us. Noobs are not limited to low levels, some have become 55 Gold Crosses.
Noobs are found camping with their M203-equipped M16’s (standard noob issue), Juggernaut and Last Stand, in the same exact place you just killed them in a few minutes ago.
COMMUNICATING WITH NOOBS: Is not a good idea. The vast majority of encounters often end with noobs being brutal flamed in the pre-game lobbies, as noobs are unintelligent and slow-thinking. Any attempt to communicate with noobs is immediately met with a pre-set list of insults, such as “Shut the fuck up”, “You wanna go one-on-one?”, “I could rape you”, etc.
NEWBS: Honest, humble, polite players who strive to better themselves by playing as a team and seeking the advice of others. Newbs are new to the game, so they don’t know, and, when confronted after using noob tactics, apologize for their behavior and immediately cease all noob activity.
COMMUNICATION WITH NEWBS: One of the most pleasant conversations ever on Xbox Live/Playstation Network. When you start talking to them, you realize they are different from noobs, and that they are sorry for their behavior.
Noobs vs. Newbs
In COD4: Noob (actual example)
Me: You fucking Juggernaut M16 noob, go to fucking hell, or start using a real gun, bitch. You went 8 and 15, that’s pathetic.
Noob: Shut the fuck up, I’ll rape you if we go one-on-one.
(Next game noob goes 4 and 11)
Noob: Fine, I’ll rape you in Cage Match.
(We go one-on-one, I beat him 25-6)
Noob: Fuck you, I just drank a Red Bull (official beverage of noobs) and I’m tense and shaky.
Me: Noob
IN COD4: NEWB (another actual example)
(newb goes 3 and 13, killing me twice with an M16 and Juggernaut)
Me: The fuck was that, asshole? You think you can just camp in the back with a M16 and Juggernaut and that’s OK? Fuck you, bitch.
Newb: Wait, what? Oh, sorry about that. I just bought this game last week and I’m still learning how to play. What should I use, do you think?
Me: (somewhat surprised) Oh… Well, if I were you, I’d go with an AK-47 and Stopping Power, that always works for me, at least.
Newb: All right, thanks, dude.
(next game, newb goes 6 and 8)
Newb: Wow, man, thanks a lot, that really helped.
Me: No problem.
(most encounters of newbs end with Friend Requesting each other, and becoming on of your main Xbox Live friends you don’t actually know in person)

ban all noobs
Not everyone was a noob, but all have the potential to yet become a noob. All were once newbs, some remain that way, some eventually pass into the spectrum of experienced, of which noob is certainly a part of. Noob does not equal Newb.

played armada online for about 3 or 4 years now. Fun game.
to TAO: You get your 2 B, but due to hyperinflation, what you want to buy now costs 2000000000000000000000000 B!
I wish more people played games I like.

just say the truth
the website seems like maybe there was an update to the site, and some code isn’t working something is being called that doesn’t exist. Doesn’t look like the site is shut down, just messed up. I blame the Craws and Jabbies for it.

EndGames Really Ended vorp
I’d guess this game is just kind of being put to the side for the time being, while they work on other stuff. It’s awesome that they leave it up, and that we can continue to play it, even if there are flaws still in it. That’s my take on it.

End Games
I second that for wicky3d. Though, you are sorta rewarded by more bang for good performance, just your ELO goes down.
I believe this next part was brought up before, in other threads, but a players average score seems to be an OK determiner of a players general ability to play, more so than the current ELO, in my opinion. I’m pretty sure if I saw a 1200 player with an average score of 3-5k, then they are likely an alt :)

Matchmaker Idea
Here’s an idea that might (in the future) be used in a matchmaking system. It works similarly to the old fashioned school playground technique of picking teams. All available players get placed in the lobby and the lobby cues up the next 6-10 players. The 2 highest ranked players (could go into detail on how to break ties, but out of scope for this post) get to choose the players on each of their teams, coin toss to see who gets to pick first ( could have a toss for each choice, to keep it more fair). No one sees who was picked until all the players are picked, then you get to pick your ships/ops/tech, and wait 1 min till it starts. If you leave at that point some penalty gets applied or maybe the person that was chosen at the same level gets dropped as well (ie, if you were the third choice, and you leave, the other teams 3rd choice gets kicked into the next queue as well).
Certain to create new problems, but would solve a few difficult ones as well. There could still be unfair matches, but that would mostly be due to the poor community knowledge of the higher ranked players.
Comments welcome :)

So we've lost a bunch of players ... now what?
repsow is a great guy, if you play with him you know hes pretty fair about his assessments, and a decent player. Based on my prior knowledge, id have to say the other guy must be a real “awesome” person, his comments also help give clues as to his “awesomeness”. I ve given Respow (aka Spower) plenty of reasons to go all nasty with me over the last few months, but i dont think he ever has.
The other guy might be just a poor player, but honestly, you can be a poor player, and not be that detrimental to the team if you’ve played “some” solo and have a basic understanding of what the red and green stuff is, and a little knowledge of the ship you decided to play.
From my experience, there are more neutral or positive players than there are idiots in the game. Which isn’t bad considering the open nature of it.

So we've lost a bunch of players ... now what?
GG is much like all forms off digital communication, devoid of non verbal cues. In the absense of these non verbal cues, the indivudual will interpret the messages using their own current state. Generally, if you lose a game, in a very frustrating manner, GG could be interpreted as “HAHHAA, you guys suck on my hairyballsack, we CREAMED you good, go play solitaire or something”. If one had a fun game, then the GG would be interpreted in a much better light.
FWIW, if someone i dont know says GG after any kiind of game, I take it as GG, and leave it as that. If its friends, I usally know (correctly) that they mean the “go play solitaire” comment, but that’s because those are the kind of friends i end up with :)

Server not Down (yay)
just saying, its down, solo is playable though, so thats at least something. Possibly due to the storm in that area. If you have no storm where you are living, that may still cause the server elsewhere to not be working, and could impair your ability to connect to the server buried beneath 3 feet ( or 1 meter ) of snow. Crazy as that sounds, it could be true.

(Ship Design) Dusk Enforcer
I think the hunters mark would be more interesting if you were teleported to the enemy. Otherwise it would always be “Mark the target, move to the turret or your team clump, teleport the enemy, then gankaway”.
If you have the power to teleport to the enemy, you can at least have some variety ( use mark to have the enemy give up the chase, use mark to get the kill shot, use mark, retreat (via warp) and go back to harass the enemy) and other tactics that would be kinda fun.

Confusing OVERPOWERED versus UNDERSKILLED
By last count, seem like 5 of the 15 ships are overpowered. Seems fair to me. Seems like these ships provide inbuilt modes of play:
Easy mode:Craw, Ant, Turbo, Clank, and Undo, sorta point and shoot though turbo requires significant practice.
Mild Challenge: Try Shino, Jabby, SS, Dread, Hiru, Wolf, Circie, XXRRG, and Torp if you want a bit of challenge in your fight. All can compete, but may be a bit tough to learn at first.
Hard core: Take an Angel, and maybe Torpaz, decent challenge challenge to be effective.

Killing turrets with everyship.
Pincer has shorter range than the rainmaker turrets at level 1, but slightly out ranges it on level 2 and way out ranges them on level 3. PS, a trick with the ant ( and maybe some other weapons) is that the pincer has a time dependent decay on its little vorp bundle. That said, you can increase the “range” of the pincer by giving it some speed before you shoot. Correct me if I’m wrong (please) but if you are stationary the range of a pincer will go a certain distance, but if you are moving, it will travel a little farther before decaying ( disappearing), and if you time it well, you can take out rainmakers with level 1 pincers, with no dmg taken. You need to find the range that the turret will fire at you, mentaly mark that, and just move forward to that point ( no need for AB) using space to break and back up. You can practice this in solo, with a good view of the turret, on the right side back battery turret.
XXgg is great for an early crash of the front turrets, just get in, shoot the turret with as much gunke as you can, then retreat and heal. the acid will continue to eat away for a little while, and nothing will stop it.
oh, and clanks can shoot through walls, really good for killing that front right battery while still staying at the front line :) ( not that a clank really needs to do that, but just saying)
Oh, and 10 more days to start playing again, YAY!!

May a solution against backdooring.
Here is an idea to help with this “so called” backdoor problem. 2 things, an OP that heals the structures it is near ( maybe that one that already heals, allow it to affect the buildings). The other option could be to make the structures heal faster, not give them more hp. This is a decent option in some respects, as it makes a successful defense worth while. This is just my observation, from MANY deep base incursions as an Ant. Unless the base is well defended, you can essentially take out any target with a little persistence. But if you allow the turrets (maybe batteries) to heal quite fast, then the defender feels that if they can at least save the target from the initial attack, then they don’t have to sit around and babysit that wounded target (which is where early base attacking can really hurt the opposing team). It also doesn’t unjustly penalize the attacker, it just gives them incentive to commit and finish the job.
