That’s basically what I thought, but they worded it oddly. They made it sound like they were going to just give you the USD equivalent of the Darkness and the PS3.

I’d like to play Jak X too, and Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is the ending of the main series so why isn’t that included?

You’re honestly not missing too much with Jak X, the story wasn’t exactly amazing and it just played like a normal kart racer game. I’d be interested in playing The Lost Frontier game as well, though

No atmosphere.

You didn’t think there was a good atmosphere? I felt relatively tense playing the game because of the way the levels were laid out.

More so because of the amount of enemies.

I agree with you there, I wish there were a few less enemies. Personally though, maybe because I was playing on hard, I found that most enemies could kill me pretty easily. I always had the normal slasher guys cut me in half, or have those baby things kill me.

The anticipation of an encounter is what horrors are all about.

That’s one facet of a horror game, but I find both equally as scary. In terms of films, I found Drag Me to Hell just as scary as Paranormal Activity, even though DMTH was mostly jump scares and PA was mostly anticipation for a scare.

I say this both good and bad. It was annoying not being able to strafe, but that did add to the tension

I feel like Dead Space showed that you can have tension while being able to walk and shoot

Also it looks like half the game is played in one area with all the parasite things that pop out of peoples heads and the other half is the normal zombie game that actually looks fun

It’s basic information for games on the internet.

How is it basic information for games on the internet? I’ve been playing games on the internet for a while, but only recently have these games popped up where you can’t get gold back efficiently.

Its obvious for the first time you play a game, but still there is a chance.

Again, it’s not particularly obvious.

But after the first game you fuck up you nearly can never fuck up like that again.

So what, for that first game, you’re completely fucked? There shouldn’t even be a “first” game where I have to fuck up at to understand this genre.

Well then I guess this Mafia thing has the same problem as this game. I’m talking about most other games.

Such as mafia wars, they have a special currency. If you don’t realize how hard it is to get you shouldn’t play.

How am I supposed to know how hard it is to get if the game doesn’t tell me? It was constantly telling me to use it for various things. I feel bad for first-time players of these types of facebook games, because they’d have no idea what to do with it.

Yeah, but with other games, you can reclaim the same amount of gold you had within a couple hours’ playtime. With this, it’s gone for good and takes ages to get that amount back.

I’d say there are a similar amount of exclusives that are original games on both consoles.

I personally like renting these Collection games because I can’t be bothered to hook up my PS2 again.

I mean when a 125 pound woman beats a group of much larger and stronger men who probably have years of experince in fists fights, barehanded, it does smell like Holywood cheese.

Wouldn’t someone who is a lot more agile than all of the enemies have a better chance of beating them? And anyways, it’s not like the game is supposed to be extremely realistic; there’s a gas that turns bad guys into giant monsters in the story mode.

Rocksteady needs to go play Bully and take a page from RockStar’s book and add some mix martail arts into the mix.

Dude, the combat in Bully was just as simplistic as Batman’s, and it was also terribly boring, in my opinion. The Combat in AC is fun to look at, at the very least.

I’ve found the Arkham City combat to be simple for people want it to be, and a bit more complex for people who want to practice for the challenge rooms or get experience quicker. I personally enjoy mixing it up and using all of the moves that he has, and I try to stay away from just using the punch and counter button.

Final issue is with the Darknight himself. Out of all the characters he had the dullest lines and the most shallow of personalities

I’ll agree with you on that, although I’ve never enjoyed Batman’s personality

On your main topic, I don’t particularly find that critics overrate games, they just ignore the bottom half of the 1-10 scale. A game that is 5 for them is pretty bad. A 7 for them is just passable. If you look at it that way, they don’t really overrate games.

I’m going to laugh maniacally if, in years to come, the 360 or PS3 are lauded as the greatest console of all time, in much the same way the PS2 currently is, due to only the awesome games being remembered and the shit having been forgotten.

It definitely will, because that’s what nostalgia is. Everything is awful, we just remember it fondly.

Keep reminiscing on the PS2 and leave everybody else to naively fawn over newer, bigger, more competitive games.

There were just as many awful, repetitive, boring games on the PS2 as there are on the 360 right now. I’m not sure why people fawn over the PS2 like every game on there was a masterpiece. There were lots of great games, and there were tons of awful games, just like the 360.

I would call game cutscenes, which have been in games since ninja gaiden, a lot different from what Heavy Rain is. Trust me, it’s a lot different from Ninja Gaiden.

World at War is an old game?

I see a lot of people in this thread saying that there are plenty of original games coming out right now, but I have yet to see one name them.

I’m not sure what you would really call original, but the 2 batman games don’t really feel like anything else I’ve played, especially with the combat system. Heavy Rain is a big innovator in terms of blending movies with games. That No More Heroes game you like looked relatively innovative, although I heard the first game wasn’t the best. Deadly Premonition is a great game that is really weird and zany. Like someone said above, Catherine was pretty interesting.
