Topic: Kongregate / Does chat seem eerily quiet to you?

The interoperability with Spont’s PM Chime script still worked before, but the rest of it didn’t. And, really, that’s the feature I miss the most.

BetterKongregate’s using an older version of the script that has been causing the problem described. From what I’ve found, the current version of the script doesn’t disappear the chat, but it doesn’t work, either.

Just because I don’t think they should doesn’t mean I would say no if they did. So I suppose we agree?

I can’t understand how from a consumer point of view you would DISAGREE not giving points retroactively, while being disappointed for an issue of a few tenth of cents. I could not care about it, since it’s a question of less than ten dollars each year, but agreeing is a totally different world.

Expecting them to give you points retroactively is kind of like going back and demanding they give you points for games you bought a month before you got the card. It’s not really a reasonable expectation. And as such it doesn’t bother me. Whereas getting points for an event that’s still going on is a reasonable expectation. And I’m disappointed that they have decided it isn’t worth the effort.

It’s silly from a consumer-oriented perspective. From gamestop’s perspective, it means that the BotD point earned by the vast majority of korgegate users who have not linked their accounts are not a potential liability on their sheets.

While I agree that BotD points shouldn’t retroactively be added to a PowerUp Rewards account for previous days’ BotD, I was also disappointed to find that if you’ve already earned the BotD the day that you link your account, you can’t earn those points, even though they are still available for anyone else to earn for the rest of the day. Allowing a consumer to earn points for an already-earned but still active BotD isn’t an ever-increasing liability the same way being able to retroactively claim ALL BotD points would be.

On the other hand, 5-30 points (15 in my case) isn’t all that big a loss from the consumer’s point of view (something on the order of a couple cents).

Topic: Kongregate / Idea: Make it possible to purchase badges.

The thing is, it wouldn’t really increase revenue for the site. Making them purchasable removes the value they had in being considered an accomplishment, which generally causes people to lose interest. Which, in turn, means that fewer people will be interested in buying them. So in the end we have very few people paying for badges, and fewer users in general, reducing ad revenue, game sources, and potential for buying kreds. It just… doesn’t sound like a good idea at all. Unless, as was brought up before, there was a clear way to distinguish purchased badges from earned ones, so that the incentive to earn them (intangible, though it is) is still there.

Alright. Done posting in a troll thread.
