Topic: Backyard Monsters / Why are my monsters acting so screwy?

Once upon a time, I beat Creature Carnage and unlocked Vorg. The next time I opened the page, no Vorg.

After that, every time I got DP, Vorg showed up as unlocked in the Locker and available in the Hatchery. After re-opening the page, no Vorg.

When I upgraded my Town Hall to level 5, a “New Feature!” message appeared, advertising Vorg and Slimeattikus. And then Vorg was back (for good) and I could proceed to unlock the Slimeattikus.

Well, after unlocking everything up to Slimeattikus, I noticed my capacity was large enough to unlock Teratorn. So I set my Locker to upgrade to level 4, waited the 30 hours, and came on. I started Teratorn’s unlocking and went to do my Slimes + Vorgs + Gorgo combo… and the Slimes and Vorgs were gone!

Someone activated DP, and when I opened the game the “New Feature!” messages were triggered again and I could proceed with Slimes + Vorgs + Gorgo to smash the dude who put me in DP.

What’s up with my monsters?

Oh, wait, did you mean guides? The guide stickied is outdated, as I said in the first f_cking sentence of the post.

How about of instead of posting a new thread, we just update the previous one? Post these suggestions below the guide.

And if you want to continue anyways with this guide, how about first making it in word, letting someone read it, and than post it?

My old account (where I was level 52) was hacked. The hacker changed my password so I had to start over. I wanted to try something new as I didn’t have 340 blocks and all the necessary towers to copy my old design. The new design didn’t really work out, so I’m reverting to my old design.

As for updates to the old one? Nope, zyz123 is basically a troll, and I’m pretty sure TFO is inactive.

Why don’t we wait and see how it turns out.

Chapter 1: Ultra Noob (TH1)

Welcome to BYM! When you first start out, there’s a tutorial waiting for you. I honestly hope that I don’t have to hold your hand through it.

So, when you’re done, you will have the following buildings. We’ll go through them one by one.

Chapter 1.1: Start Defending

You have a level 1 Sniper Tower. It’s basically a turret mounted on top of something resembling a box with a circuit board on it.

What does a Sniper Tower do?
Well, it kills monsters. Duh.

No, really, what do Sniper Towers do?
At level 1, Snipers deal 100 damage per shot. This increases by 110 each level. It has a long range, too. It fires off one shot every two seconds.
Pros: High damage, high range, great against a few strong monsters.
Cons: Slower reload. Its high damage is wasted when attacking weak monsters and can attack only one enemy at a time.

Put this turret-on-a-box tower deep into your yard at first. This makes it cover more of your base.

Now, you should build a level 1 Cannon Tower. It’s a tube… with teeth on it… that shoots the same stuff as the Sniper Tower. So, wait, what makes it any different then? Well, let’s find out.

What does a Cannon Tower do?
It kills monsters like the Sniper Tower.

Seriously, what does it do?
Every tower has its own unique ability (but you probably already knew that). The Cannon’s ability is splash damage.

What’s splash damage?
What? You don’t know what splash damage is? All right then: splash damage is where you hit an enemy, and the shot hits other enemies within a certain range.

Okay, now I know what splash damage is. What are the stats of the Cannon?
Starting with 20 damage, the number increases by 20 each level. The radius of the explosion is 30 at level 1 and goes up by 5 each level. It fires faster than the Sniper, firing off a shell every second. Its range is smaller than the Sniper’s.
Pros: Damages lots of enemies at once. Great vs. weak monsters. Its rate of fire is also quite fast.
Cons: Not so good vs. small amounts of strong enemies, moderately small range.

Put Cannons in the middle of Harvesters (more on that in about 3 paragraphs) where monsters have congregated together attacking the Harvesters.

What do I do now?
Build the second Sniper and Cannon that you are alloted.

Is there anything else I need to know about defense towers?
For any tower, the more damaged it is, the less damage it does. A tower with 100% health does the full amount of damage; this is reduced as the tower is damaged, down to 50% damage before it goes down.

Topic: GemCraft Labyrinth / Playing Pylon Level as Endurance

Playing Pylons as endurance is quite challenging. If you have a tower (which is invariably G20+ with range of the whole field) and it kills all the monsters, it’ll shoot a fast-as-hell chain of blobs at the Pylon. Level complete. So you have to use traps…

Okay, revised my idea, yellow X = 6th silo; red X = bunkers 3/4, pink X = housing 4. I put the level #s on the buildings, too.

According to one of the guide on the BYM forums, 3 layers of Black Diamond Blocks deter a monster’s path by 40-83 blocks. The robot is about 35-ish blocks long, so no, no chews.

There’s only 2 layer .

Sigh… anyone actually READING the post could see that I was planning 3 layers…

If I were you, I would remake the box yard into something with pathing, and more anti-cata proning as Bunkers are right below ADTs on importance. Given the idea you have is good, but once they get passed the NEC, they’ll just tear through faster then you can say Good Game.

1. Box? WTF are you talking about? Can’t you see the gaps in the walls?

2. Did you READ the post? They’re SUPPOSED to be cataprone. Actually read the post, and you’ll see why.

3. Well, aren’t all NECs like that? Once you destroy the NEC you move to the core. It’s simple logic for any yard with an NEC.

4. You obviously didn’t see the traps/gaps/towers.

Here’s a tip: In the future, actually look at the yard and post attached to it before spewing criticism.

^ Ok. I have a FB account too with a TH level 10 and I wasn’t sure if TH10 was here or not. I actually just made this cause I got forced into MR3 on FB… damn inferno glitch.

All right, I made a post 10 levels ago and now I’m back with a completely new base! I’m level 30 right now, but I’ve made some plans for later. Right now I’m calling it the “Robot of Death”.

Cyan Xs mark the spots where bunkers 2, 3, and 4 will be. I won’t always fill them up so some impatient/rash attacker will throw in 5M twigs, or even better, 10M pebbles, when he/she didn’t even do anything with their resources. The IDEA is for them to be cataprone for this reason.

Purple Xs/Red Xs mark where I’ll change my defenses around. First for purple I’ll put teslas and for red I’ll put lasers. Then I’ll switch the teslas with ADTs and the lasers with railguns. The teslas/lasers will then form a ring around the “robot”. Even later after I’ve upgraded my Under Hall the railguns will be swapped with quakes. The railguns will join the other towers in the ring around the “robot”. I’ll hide one magma behind the locker and the other behind a hatchery (not sure which one yet).

Oh, and of course, three layers of blocks around the “robot”. I had some chew problems when the Dreadnauts flung 63 Brains at me, so I’m triple walling. Don’t tell me to upgrade my blocks, I’m aware that I need to. I don’t have the resources because:
1) I have no Kozus in my Map Room (it’s level 1).
2) All my farms are in damage protection.
So I’ll upgrade my blocks soon.

Finally, my plans as to the remainder of my eventual possible 400 (I think) blocks. I’ll put up some “Halls of Death” for the railguns and if I STILL have blocks, well… more Eye-ra/Valgos bait couldn’t hurt anyone.

Well, I suppose I’ve rambled on enough. Here’s the base, score it on a scale of 1-10 (rate how good my future plans are from 1-5):

First post: “We currently don’t have an ETA as to when this problem will be fixed…”

Yup. Obviously as it’s almost this thread’s first birthday (eight more days!) and this problem is STILL being reported. That qualifies it as a pretty epic fail in my book.

Sorry for double post…

I’m level 29, and there’s a level 34 farm in my map. His silos are in one section out of range of the Champion Cage, and every time I attack I flatten the silos and gain ~800K of each resource.

So… should I keep farming him or try to level up my Kozu for when he goes into MR2 (it can’t be very long now…) and I’m stuck with other players/low level WMTs?
