Topic: Technical Support / Login question

I have been playing tanki online through Kong. Question is there is added benefit for me to secure my Tanki username by attaching a valid email address. This option however is not present when I login through Kong.

Question is, when I login to a game through kong, I know my username but what is my password? I have the ability to connect directly through the tanki website, but I don’t know my password, because I login through kong.

Can anyone elaborate what criteria kong uses when I login through it?

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] So we've lost a bunch of players ... now what?

I think that i am now done with Vorp also. I spent a lot of time playing and getting to level 26, the fun is gone..along with all the players. The server wait time is terrible at times, team mates that dont listen or want to work together, idiots working exploits in the game, no modes or boards or options…the list goes on. They had a great concept here, but alas, they pissed it away.

I think someone here is far too judgemental. The only people who care about being on the leader board are the ones that are there. The rest of the people play, very likely, because they enjoy it. Being ranked high is irrelevant to me, being highly ranked brings me just as much benefit as being at the bottom…ABSOLUTE SWEET F*** ALL! This is not the world series of poker, i am not making income doing this so who cares.

Am i awesome? no…average at best. Do i care, NO, and not especially what you think of it.

I play the ships that i can effectively use, not because they are overpowered, nor becuase there is a flaw in the game to exploit with it…but because i like it!

I just tried craw for the first time, i wont be using it again. Overpowered or not, doesnt work for me. I would rather use a ship I can be effective with.

I am seeing a great many posts about over powered this and over powered that. Though it would stand to reason the developers may occassionally get something wrong, the game seems generally balanced. Tweaks have been and will continue to be made to balance things out when required.

I have played this game long enough now to have seen quite a few battles. I know which ships suit me and and which do not. I have seen all kinds of tactics with both good and bad results, and sometime you see someone that really knows a ship..strengths and weakness, OPS and upgrades…they really have their shit together and i have seen these rare people really pull off some impressive things! Good for them, they are better than me!

People tend to cry overpowered….I prefer to think of them as underskilled. Perhaps instead of blasting the game, maybe its you that blows. Hell, maybe your just average, and happend to be playing against one of these snipers!

Remember before you bitch….ITS ALL YOU!

I think turrets should have greater regen rates on health aswell as greater range. I think the emitters and core should also have a big ass turret each built into them.

Great posts Brother, i am glad that others see the importance of some tactics. It is far too often, everyone hangs in the middle putzing around while the enemy slowly eats away your towers, and your team is just chasing enemies around. In a way, it can be critical to get the front shield down…it both sets the tone and either a offensive or defensive mode for the rest of the game.

I prefer to get the front shield down, then the emitter and them move to the batteries. Time and again i see people try to hit the bat first, waste a ton of time and then never get to the emitter.

This is a MUST read for all players, good work!

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] A reward for reaching Rank 30?

How about if you reach level 30 you get a commander bonus for playing with lower ranked people, they get a bonus in abilities having a high level commander and you would get a bonus in exchange. Maybe full time third ability slot which is long distance scanners to aid in commanding. Ships under your command get the bonus so long as you are alive and slowly increase it over time if you dont die, giving you some incentive to stay alive without being too risky. Once you die once the escalation bonus ceases.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Levelling up (in game)

When you all gain a level in the game, do you find yourself always upgrading the same way everytime? Or do you find your choices vary by the way your game is going. For me, I use Hiru…I always upgrade 2,1,2,1,4…then after that it varies by how the game is going…sometime I choose upgrading the shields and other times the hull. I usually focus on initially maximizing damage rather than increasing my own health…i find i get more kills and better xp in game at a more rapid pace (at least early on).

On the other hand when i use IW i upgrade 2,1,2,4,2,1,4,4,5,5,5,3,3,3. Until you can get the first laser upgrade you are pretty much useless…often i have to rely on drone hunters and drone kills just to cross that threshold of that first upgrade. I find the CLAW is a pretty big waste of energy so i dont often choose that.

Why would you punish a team because 1 person sucks and gives the other team a huge advantage earlier in the game than is natural to do so? The game still needs balance, i have seen this more than my fair share, one team takes off early on and everyone else is just pissed the rest of the game knowing theres no chance…hence quitters, which make it even harder for those that want to play it out.

If you are a good player, you will still be a good player…those that are not in the top 10 and pick their matches still need a way to keep things alive and entertaining. Your kills and death counts and Bang bonus are still the same, you just get less points the greater the level differential. ie those just farming for points are wasting their time, get on with finishing the game.

Topic: Kongregate Multiplayer Games / [Vorp!] Scoring question/idea

I have taken a scan through the how to play areas and whatnot hoping to see a detailed breakdown on how scoring is done, with little found. Does anyone know if there is a scoring chart which shows what everything is worth? Turrets, enemy ships, drones etc…also i would like to know a little more info on what percentage you get for an assist on a ship, structure etc..is it based on the total percentage of damage you do, or is it a flat rate for a hit period.

I would like to also throw out there that scoring between opposing players should be balanced. There are 2 ways this can be done, either by player level in the game or by overall ranking. i will follow through my logic using player level for discussion purposes. 2 player of equal level should get the same points for killing each other. If a player level 10 beat a level 3, he should get far less points…conversly if a level 3 player beats a level 10, he should get a ton more points. This would help balance out game play imbalance that starts either becuase a really good team, or a team which gets overinflated due to a feeder earlier on. You could also follow this logic through based on your players rank instead of level in the game. I think this would stabilize some huge imbalances i am seeing between the players and how fast they advance in the game and the subsequent ripple down because of it.

I am also thinking higher level players should get progressivel less points for hard targets too. This would push people who go for points to either act sooner, or refrain from levelling up because of their reduced performace impact.

Just a thought…

i think the transport ability only worked when those slowing shields are down. I posted this somewhere else. Like star trek, cant transport through shields when they are up. Once you are behind the shield you dont have a unimpeded route back, so it wont work. This would force the team to open up sections.

I also think the transport ability is too powerful. I think it shoudl recharge slower or there should be a greater delay between activiation and when it works. During this time you cannot do anything, move, thrust, turn or shoot.

I am certain of the fact that these developer are doing this as a side job, thats usually how this good stuff happens. For people to expect developers to give them ongoing updates as to when they are away on vacation is rediculous. People should just chill out, enjoy the game..the updates will come. If you want updates every 5 minutes, go find some game made by Adobe…they love updating.

I think it should just slot in each player, player 1, 2, 3 etc..show the ship they pick, show their rank and red, yellow or green in colour so you know their quitter status only. This should give an indication of the type of players you are with. You can still chat, it would just say player 1 instead of your actual name…chat away all you like, tell people who you are if you want; other players could tell or not tell as they see fit. You can still invite players by name, you just wont know which guy it is until they tell you. Once the game starts, all the info comes up, just like the enemy teams do now.

I think the biggest mismatch exploit is self inflicted. People come in and the system tries to match them. A few people quit cause there is some guy in there they dont want to play with, so they quit and rejoin. System tries to match them, and low and behold they end up in the same game..endless cycle and a lot of wasted time.

I think they should put a true test to the matching system, make it so no one see who is on any team. Once game starts, they will know their team and by then if they quit there is implications. True blind matching will be the perfect test of that mechanism. I suspect without player interference, it probably isn;t too bad.
