A decent strategy when playing as a Tech or Shocker is to follow another teammate (preferably one with a heavy chassis) and act as a mobile healing unit for that player’s health/shields. An experienced Tank with a Tech and a Shocker at his side can be a force to be reckoned with.

My take on a new Heavy class.

AGGRESSOR

Description: As the name implies, the Aggressor is a strong unit who loves nothing more than being at the forefront of an assault. His offensive capabilities are great for shattering defenses, as well as pushing back invasions on key positions.

Chassis: Battle-Chassis

Primary Weapon: Artillery Rifle
-Fires a hitscan blast every 0.5 seconds. Deals moderate damage.

Alt Weapon: Heavy Shotgun
-Low-to-mid range weapon that fires buckshot every 0.9 seconds. Deals low-to-medium damage and stuns enemies at close range.

Q-Tility: Aura of Rage
-Releases a large red barrier that surrounds the Aggressor. The aura deals damage to enemies while repairing the Aggressor’s shield. The area-of-effect is ten feet.

E-Skill: Painful Rush
-Dashes forward, damaging and knocking back any enemy he slams into. If the Painful Rush is used on an enemy with a Light or Utility Chassis, the affected enemy’s jetpack is disabled for three seconds.

F-Bomb: Jackhammer Bomb
-Bounces in place five times, releasing a large explosion every time it hits the ground. Perfect for keeping enemies from advancing on a particular area.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Tanks are OP

People who are are sick of Tanks sitting on a CP need to buy Blasters. The Blaster’s weapons have a further effective range than the Tank’s, and he can use his Repulsion Fields to shove the Tank away while pounding away at him with rockets.

Engaging a Tank at close range is almost as bad as engaging a Blazer at melee range. It’s just not a good idea, and 9/10 times you’re going to die. (Assuming you get lucky on the tenth try.)

New class idea: Freezer

weapon 1:icicle gun= shoots icicles (like the pulser but a little more damage) and has a frost effect, which reduces the targets speed slowly. Effect can stack like poison to as low as a little bit slower than the heavy classes. (guns will work properly like usual)

weapon 2:blizzard= (idea from the tech buyable weapon sound cannon) charges up and releases a moving snow storm. The frost affect will be stronger than the icicle gun, max stack reduces speed to around the bell rung affect, but due to the sheer amount of snow or ice on the target, its defenses are increased by 50%-75%.

Ability 1: Hypothermia= The freezer sets out micro helpers in each gun to apply a sharper ‘tip’ to each weapon. When hit by a freezer weapon, the ice reaches the bloodstream of the opponent, applying hypothermia. The health will steadily drop for 50 hp each second for a minute. This effect cannot stack.

Ability 2: Ice Age= (Similar to the assassin catalyze move (ability 2)) The Freezer dramatically drops the temperature around it to way below freezing point. Opponents will be immobilized for 7-10 seconds, but due to the amount of ice around it, increases defenses to 50%. Shooting the frozen target melts the ice, making the wait speed up.

Ability 2: Hypothermia= The freezer sets out micro helpers in each gun to apply a sharper ‘tip’ to each weapon. When hit by a freezer weapon, the ice reaches the bloodstream of the opponent, applying hypothermia. The health will steadily drop for 50 hp each second for a minute. This effect cannot stack.

Ability 3: Water’s Rage= Throws a ballon(like the mines) filled with icy cold water and blows up. The splash of the water gets to opponents, applying the frost effect with no extra defense boost and leaves a puddle for victims to step on. Staying in the water applies a weak hypothermia, 50 hp for 30 seconds. Puddle will evaporate 15 seconds later.

*The freezer will have a small coat of ice armor, denying critical shots from any other weapon. This is what will make the class respected.
*Due to the fiery heat of the blazer, the stack of effects from freezer will be dramatically reduced.
(tell me what you think people)

There’s a “Create Your Own Class” thread, you know. Try posting this in that instead.

I’m not talking about suiciding with an F-Bomb. I’m talking about a powerup that makes your corpse explode 3 seconds after dying. Also, the explosion radius would be far bigger than a normal F-Bomb explosion.

I’m going to re-post some of my old suggestions.

-Player Spectating: It’d be nice to WATCH a match unfold every now and then…Add some player spectating so players aren’t forced to fight.
-Super Pickups: We already have the Mega Damage. Why not add some other super pickups like Health Regeneration? (Player regenerates a set amount of health every second) Or Kamikaze? (3 seconds after dying, the player’s dead body releases a large explosion.)
-Environmental Hazards: Some maps could have lava, acid or other tricks and traps. There could also be some timed events for certain maps, such as meteor showers and shapeshifting environments.
-Taunts: For that extra humiliation after killing someone. Add insult to injury by dancing next to that guy you just killed! :D

I just want to open up by saying that the Blaster class can rip apart Light Chassis classes fairly easily. If you’re playing as a Light Chassis class, avoid melee combat with a Blaster unless you’re positive his Repulsion Field has been used up. If you rush him while his Repulsion Field is active, he can shove you away before you get even remotely close enough to slice him. Worst part is, you’ll be eating Minigun bullets the entire time.

If you’re playing as an Assassin, avoid Blazers at all costs. Taking on a Blazer one-on-one is suicide: His Flamethrower will cook you alive long before you can land a single melee hit. Worse still, he can see you with the Spectral Optics, whether you’re visible or not. In other words, if he sees you, you aren’t going to escape.

Some tips on how to use the Tank properly:

I find that most noobs use the Tank’s Neutron Shell immediately apon encountering enemies. As an experienced Tank user, I can tell you right now that this is a BAD IDEA. Maximize your lifespan by waiting to activate the Shell until you’re down to 50% health or less.

Also, it’s a general rule of thumb that you shouldn’t use the Shell in a one-on-one encounter. Rather than waste the Shell fighting one enemy, use the Nullification Buckler (Alt-fire for the Blitzkrieg Mauler) to block ranged attacks. Autotargetting will usually keep the Buckler pointed at the enemy until they’re outside targetting range. Save the Neutron Shell until you find yourself confronting multiple enemies at once.

What is your favorite map out of the three currently available?

My favorite is the Moon Base. The Shuttle Bay is a close second, though.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Top 3 Favorite Classes (So Far)

What are the three classes you like to use the most? Describe your reasons for liking these classes so much.

I like my three favorites equally:

Tank – This is my go-to class when I want to spearhead an assault on a CP. plus, his ability to dominate 1-on-1 encounters makes me love him all the more.

Blazer: I use this guy when I want to be on the offensive. Or when I want to troll noobs. (Since almost all of them seem to do nothing more than run straight at you.) Another great thing about this guy is his ability to smoke out Assassins like a boss.

Blaster: Not only is this another great class for pushing CPs, he’s also useful for ripping apart enemy Scouts. He has the capacity to function as an offensive AND defensive unit.

Harvester (Based on “Greed” from Unreal Tournament 3)

-When players die, they drop Skulls. If the player has collected skulls from enemy players, he will drop that amount of skulls +1 upon death. (i.e. Player who dies after collecting 6 Skulls will drop 7 Skulls. Player who hasn’t collected any Skulls will only drop 1 Skull.)
-There is also a capture point at the center of the map. Unlike with the Shuttle Bay and Moon Base, however, the team that has control of the capture point will power down the barriers surrounding the enemy base. (You know, the ones in the Shuttle Bay and Moon Base levels that keep the enemy team out of your team’s base? Those barriers.)
-Each team’s base will have a small obelisk. The goal of the game is to hold the CP long enough for you and your team to carry the Skulls you collect from dead players and “sacrifice” them to the obelisk. (by touching it) As soon as a player touches the enemy team’s obelisk, that player is teleported back to his team’s base.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Proudest Freefall Moments

What have you done in this game that makes you proud? Was it a really fancy kill, or an awesome display of teamwork, or just a really close call? Anything is allowed as long as it happened IN THIS GAME!!!

For me, one of my proudest Freefall moments happened while when I was playing as a Tank in the Training Arena the other day. I was headed towards our team’s teleporter, and I ran headlong into a collective of spawncamping Shockers and Assassins. (As well as a Blazer.) I knew I wasn’t getting away, so I pulled out my Blitzkrieg Hammer and charged forward.

Either they were almost all complete noobs, or I was just really on top of my game that day. I managed to destroy their entire defense and eviscerate 5 people before the Blazer finally burnt me alive. It’s pretty amazing what you can do when you know you’re going to die! xD

Topic: Freefall Tournament / vehicles

I like to compare this game to Gears of War in the sense that it’s more of a squad-on-squad style game than most other free to play titles. There might not be a cover system or anything, but the scale is similar.

Any Gears player will tell you that (Outside of the Silverback in Horde 2.0) vehicles in Gears of War is a bad idea. It just doesn’t fit the type of gameplay that the game currently delivers.

Freefall Tournament is similar: Vehicles would only throw off the style of gameplay that the game currently delivers.

Another good point. Most games throw vehicles into larger-scale game modes for the purpose of mobility. There are already jetpacks in the game, so that makes adding vehicles in to help maneuver the maps…pointless…

Vehicles in Freefall…

Hell no?

Honestly, the game has issues with balance as it is without throwing overpowered/noob-friendly vehicles into the mix. This isn’t Halo, you know…

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Design Your Gamemode

I kinda wish someone would give me some feedback on my “Assault” and “Siege” modes I posted in these threads.

Oh well. Let’s keep it rolling! I thought of another game mode yesterday that I figured would work well in this game.

Team Hunted (Originally from “Twisted Metal” for the PS3)
This mode works similarly to standard Team Deathmatch. However, there are a few twists.
-One team member on each team is the “Hunted” character for each team. The Hunted is the ONLY player on the team that can score for kills.
-If one Hunted kills another, the remaining Hunted scores three kills for their team.
-The game ends when time runs out.
Since the two Hunted characters are the only players who can score for kills, teams MUST work cohesively to win. The normal players’ main objective is to soften up enemy combatants so the Hunted can score the kill.

Topic: Freefall Tournament / Design Your Favorite Class

I’ve actually finished blocking out the first class I posted a while back. Here’s what I’ve got.

MARAUDER

Description: The Marauder is a lightweight unit capable of wreaking havoc in close quarters. His guerrilla tactics and quick reflexes make him perfect in small, confined areas.

Role: Combat

Suggested Targets: Most light/medium size classes, such as Gunners and Techs

Difficulty: Fairly simple

Armor: Light Chassis

Primary Weapon: Shotgun. Medium to heavy damage, short-to-mid range. Deals heavy amounts of damage up close. Reload manually reloads the weapon.

Secondary Weapon: Machine Pistol: Medium damage, mid range. Fires somewhat slower than a Gunner’s assault rifle. ‘Alt fire’ has target-locking abilities. Unlike most other automatic weapons, however, target lock does not slow down the user’s firing speed.

Q Skill: Flashbang Blast: By activating a utility in his gloves, the Marauder lets loose a flash of light that blinds and deafens anyone within 12 feet of him. The closer to the Marauder you are, the longer the effects will last. The drawback, however, is that if something is between the blast and the enemy at the time of activation, the enemy will NOT feel any effects. Since the blast takes two seconds to charge, enemies have time to quickly move to cover and avoid the effects of the blast.

E Skill: Teleport Stun: Teleports up to 20 yds in the direction the player is facing. The teleportation is instantaneous, and the player releases a small shockwave upon reappearing. If an enemy within the teleportation path, the player will instead reappear within close proximity of the enemy, damaging and stunning them in the process.

F Bomb: Ricochet Bomb: A rather special type of explosive device, the Ricochet Bomb is a medium sized disc that, when deployed, hovers in a straight line. The truly remarkable thing about the Ricochet Bomb, however, is its ability to ricochet off of walls. Each time the bomb bounces off a wall, it gains speed, making it dangerous in a small environment. The bomb explodes after 10 ricochets, or after coming in contact with enemy personnel. (Whichever comes first)

Feedback?

I’m not being a slacker. I was simply turned off by the whole “classes with limitations” prospect. I actually don’t think classes with limitations would fit with this game, simply because they are really difficult to balance. More often than not, they either end up with a serious handicap that makes them almost useless, or they end up with a serious advantage that makes them incredibly overpowered in spite of their handicap.

The only real handicap I can see working is a class that doesn’t have a jetpack…And even that could be troublesome to work out.
