I do 16X16 pixel art images. I’m not sure if that’s the style your looking for, but I think it could be a very interesting look for a game like that.

Well tell me more about your pixel art and I can lead you in the right direction.

Please let me see your work and I can tell you more about how and where you can sell it.

and most of the time flash game devs would want you too work for them and make what they tell you to make.

I actually found a site called Fiverr and set up a gig: http://fiverr.com/b3nj1771/create-up-to-three-16×16-pixel-art-images

I haven’t had any luck with it so far, so I’m still looking for suggestions. There are some examples of my art on the gig’s page if you want to see some of my work. Thanks.

Oh and just to clarify, (trying really hard not to brag…) my pixel art is pretty good despite my age. I think Flash game developers would be interested in purchasing my art for their games, especially at a cheap price.

Topic: The Arts / How can I sell my pixel art online?

I’ve been making flash games and I have about two hundred individual 16X16 pixel art creations I’ve made for my games. I want to make a bit of money off them and I was wondering where I could sell them. I want to sell them to multiple people (not exclusively to one client) if that’s possible. I’ve done a lot of research on Google without much success. Ideally, I’d like to put them up on a site with a lot of other artist’s pixel art where people will naturally visit to locate and purchase art for their games. I’ve also considered making my own site to sell my art (I have experience in web design), but I won’t get a lot of traffic that way. I’m new to selling things online, so any help or experience you have that you could share would be a big help.

By the way, I’m only 17. Would my age present any sort of problem or legal issue? I know I can’t create a PayPal account, but my dad said he would create one for himself that I could use.

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I believe you want to pursue a game developing career, thus the fact you want to start off by making at least something. Well, good luck with it!

Yeah! That’s a good way of putting it.

So instead of getting a summer job, giving you thousands of dollars per month, you choose to create games, giving you hundreds of cents per month (if you’re actually good). Nice plan you’ve got there…

Instead of wasting hours doing tedious (but still important nevertheless) work at a grocery store or a department store, etc, you’ve decided to forgo the money in order to learn to program and possibly learn digital art skills which, if you pursue, will make you hundreds of times more valuable and hundreds of times more likely to get a job in the future.

Sounds like a good move to me.

That’s if the OP wants to make a career out of it. They gave no indication though, they seemed to be looking for an alternative way to make some money/a quick buck.

I AM planning on pursuing a career in the game industry (or at least some sort of programming / computer tech feild). I don’t care too much about the money and this certainly isn’t a scheme to “make some money/a quick buck” as adv0catus seems to think.

Hahaha… Well, I guess my post wasn’t very clear…

I wasn’t planning on making even a fraction of the money I could doing a Summer job. I meant “instead of a Summer job” in the sense that that’s what I’ll be doing in my free time instead of working at a restaurant or something. I’m guessing I’ll be lucky to make a dollar or two every few months. The amount of money isn’t the point, the point is that I’m making SOMETHING (albeit practically nothing) off something I’ve made. I know I would be much better off getting a job flipping burgers.

Thanks for the advice though… “Flash games don’t make money”—-I think I got it. At least the first two or three posts actually answered my question!

Hey. I’m in high school and I want to see if I can make a little bit of money off my flash games instead of getting a Summer job. I looked at the registration thing and it asks all kinds of tax questions and stuff. I’ve never been employed or anything and I’m only 17. Is it still possible for me to get advertising revenues from Kongregate (I want to do it by check in the mail)? If I can, how do I sign up (step-by-step). If I can’t, is it possible to get the money through my mom or dad’s name? Thanks!
