Managed to find a piece of paper with a star on it and a key. But since I can't find anything that needs a key, nor any clue as to what I should click on, I give up. Some indication of what can be interacted with would be nice.

Yeah I have no idea what to do here. I have the star paper and weird key and I see the notice on the tv screen but what do I do with it all?
