Also, the walls and ceiling have a nice bounce to them, it would be nice to see that in the floor too.

Nicely done. The controls are very smooth, and the graphics are okay. My suggestions would be to make more than one type or size of spike, and to cause difficulty by having more spikes on screen, as opposed to such fast ones. Also, spikes detect you based on their x*y rectangle. You might want to write some better hit detection than a simple hitTest(player). One method is choosing points in the spikes, and finding out if they are closer to the center of the ball than its own radius. (High scores would be cool too. :D) Other than that, it's looking like a pretty good start.
