i got so stuck that i decided to use a walkthrough, but i dont know how anyone can figure that out on their own. i think its stupid

I got up to the point with the knife that I was forced to use the walkthrough.. And sadly it didn't help... I clicked with the knife to tear at it and it seems to be glitched. It won't show itself
