Your instructions should specifically mention that jettisoned parts are launched towards the mouse (pushing you the opposite direction), since this was initially unclear.

thought it was a really interesting game, but I agree the controls are horrible. took me 4 tries to even figure out what to do. I find the enemy is way too aggressive and too strong. Within seconds a huge ship attacks you. Not enough time to figure things out. You get attacked and game over. be nice to use arrow keys. L/R rotate, up to activate thrusters. or up to activate anything selected. either way it would be nice to survive for more than just a few moments.
thank you, I think the general sentiment is the controls are bad, even the testers at the game jam needed to be told how to do the controls, so it definitely is a problem

I agree with @basement_dweller
It took me a couple of plays to realise I had a thruster (and could turn it on/off)... and another couple to see the tiny indicator on the guns. The power indicators are tiny, and look like part of the component initially.
I think the biggest changes I would suggest are:
1. Auto-targeting on the guns. All of the other ships have such maneuverability that it is difficult to turn the ship fast enough to target them with the few guns gathered.
2. Possibly an option to turn on/off all of a type (eg thrusters or guns) as this can be quite tricky once you gather a few of each.
3. A more detailed overview of what the components are. Like a "cheat sheet" saying this is oxygen, this is a weapon, this is a thruster, this is ...junk, armor, whatever else there is. (and whether it is powered or not)
