In the map screen, click on the BOWS button and you can choose better bow with higher power. Also you should shoot quiver to get more arrows and moneybag to get more score.

Scoring is broken: You can continuously replay a level where it's easy to get the "+1 max arrows" pickup forever, losing 100 points each time, but each arrow easily gets you 250 (or at least 125) points in the "target" levels. You can infinite-loop this until you get bored (e.g., 1000 arrows per turn = ~250,000 points on each "target" level).
