Some of the game dev companies around where I live just churn out the same kinds of lousy games because people continue to buy this crap. As much as upgrades can be a fun game element, we all want games to have more content than just that. I think it's a good thing if people give this message some weight.

(Part1 - it's huge, I'm already sorry) It's a bravo! Your point expressed here is really unsettling and interesting: for me, it talks about being in control of what you do with your life.
When you play some game, the first decision is up to you: You could pick any other game, but you choose one, and creates some hopes about it. But, once in-game, you're "owned" by it: you should play w/ the controls and instructions that it offers to you. It's clear: you just can't play this game with keyboard, and you wouldn't try to build a city or conquer an empire because it doesn't allow you to do so. See: it dictates the way you'll play, and often, you'll want to play like that. The mainly critic says about the way we are lured to do some things. Here, the author criticized how some in-game mechanics (like achievements) can modify the way you play games: maybe you're just not having fun trying to achieve all these achievements – you're doing smt that you weren't up to, and perhaps, you can't even

(Part2) realize that you aren't enjoying these time spent ingame.And that's something that occurs beyond this framework. You work on something that first appealed you, but now it's all about money. You're with someone that you loved, but now it's all about a built relationship. The lesson learnt is about the importance of updating your feelings about what's happening, balancing the initial expectations w the reality and, then, adjusting the former or changing the latter. Do you really want to work like this? Do you really love them? Do you really want to play such game for the achievements' sake?
It's not about what you do specifically. You can work for money, play for the achievements and such - it's about knowing what you're doing. Feeling that it has sense for you, that it's not some robotic living.
The answer, given by our caring demogorgon22, is already there: "you should always play for fun" – as obviously as it sounds, but as hard as it really is in fact. Thx for this anti-game!
