Maybe instead of adding different priorities into the targeting system, you could just make the mortars range an awful lot bigger (it makes sense realistically, a mortar has a huge range compared to an SMG or an AT weapon).

For a game with gritty colorless graphics, I actually found the game to be very aesthetically appealing. It art style just looks amazing overall.
