I agree with the not enough checkpoints comments and also the map comment. Also what's the point of the butterflies? They all seemed impossible to get to me.

Here's a rule: Never EVER use Spacebar in a game where one may hold two arrow keys at once.

Way too easy to die/not enough checkpoints, enemies don't react to getting shot/too many shots to kill.

Hi!, yes, game's saved at checkpoints. It won't save your position though, just the items you have found at that point and the bosses you have defeated.
