Estovakia

In October of 1994, it was found by the University of Seals Bridge that an asteroid approximately 1 mile in diameter was on a collision course with the Earth. This asteroid was named Ulysses. On July 3rd, 1999, almost 5 years later since then, the asteroid broke through the Roche Limit. On July 8th, Ulysses, becoming disintegrated into more than a thousand cores and innumerable dusts, rained down on the surfaces of the planet. As a result, more than 500,000 human lives were taken during the following 2 weeks. From that time on, the meteoric fragments of Ulysses had been floating in orbit, and had kept falling down to the Earth for the following several years. The world was in unprecedented chaos...


The Federal Republic of Estovakia was one of the nations which took a deadly damage due to the planet fall of Ulysses. Originally, this nation started out as a Federation comprised of multiple Republics, and grew prosperous by way of sharing and distributing resources and industrial products assembled from each Republic. However, the industrial and logistics infrastructures were extensively damaged in the aftermath of Ulysses. Unable to procure and produce materials, the Estovakian people's standard of living kept on deteriorating. Amidst this turmoil, most politicians and bureaucrats escaped one by one from the country for emigration purposes. The Estovakian Government thus despite the best efforts of the remaining politicians and bureaucrats the government almost ceased to function and was not very effective at it was because too much of the politicians and buercrats left the country, only to see the increase of crimes and displaced people. The nation was void of political and economical order.
The Birth of the Factions Edit
It was military officers across the country that stood up to save the nation from chaos and poverty. After a myriad of armed groups were born, grown and assembled, the lines fortified themselves around 6 Factions; the Lyes United Front, the Eastern Faction, the Independent Trade Tariff Federation, the Island Coalition, the Northern Highlands Faction, and the the Government Forces. They tried a divide-and-conquer administration for the country of Estovakia by military regimes and government. This policy, however, did not solve a problem of restoring order to the nation. Ironically, the divide-and-conquer agenda wound up in giving birth to new skirmishes. The Factions began to plunder each other of materials and resources. The situation became volatile.
The Lyes United Front Edit
On April 3rd, 2007, the Lyes Faction led by Lieutenant General Lyes succeeded in taking power and control of the capital of Estovakia. Gathering momentum, the Lyes Faction conquered the entire western region, and became Estovakia's most powerful Faction both in name and fact. Gaining control of the central government, the Lyes Faction renamed them the Lyes United Front to make domestic and international appeals that they represented the orthodox Estovakian Government. The Lyes United Front then took charge of receiving aid materials from the neighboring Republic of Emmeria, and distributed them to each region. Regarding Estovakia's rehabilitation, there was indeed a faint sign of hope around this time. On the other hand, the Lyes United Front thoroughly promoted counterinsurgency policies against the groups that refused to pledge allegiance to them, one of them was the city of Glenda which was loyal to remaining government in response. Lyes cut off all supplies to them and alot of people died. The country of Estovakia began to grow unsettled and disquieting.
The Outbreak of a Civil War within EstovakiaEdit
Many people did not welcome the rise of Lieutenant General Lyes. One of them was Supreme Commander Dvornik of the Eastern Faction, who immediately unfolded his opposing position against Lyes. He assigned Victor Voychek, the then top ace of the Estovakian Air Force, as the leader of a newly established elite flight squadron and, hired defectors from the Principality of Belka and North Osea as scientists and mercenaries to improve their weapons development technology and air power management. As if to act in concert with the Eastern Faction, the Independent Trade Tariff Federation, the Island Coalition and the Northern Highlands rose in arms too. This marked the beginning of the all-out Civil War of Estovakia.
Lyes United Front versus Eastern FactionEdit
And so, as the Civil War was fought on, the Lyes United Front defeated the Independent Trade Tariff Federation and consequently succeeded in putting 50% of Estovakian territory under their control. However, this victory backfired on them. The rapid expansion of the battlefront brought about confusion in the organizations, and they had to call a halt to their advance temporarily. The Eastern Faction capitalized on this, and successfully absorbed the Island Coalition and the Northern Highlands. The Civil War entered the stage where two powerful Factions had to settle a score. And on January 15th, 2013, Lieutenant General Lyes, in an attempt to put an end to the Civil War once and for all, mobilized all ground and naval forces to launch all-out attacks on the Eastern Faction. It was believed that the Lyes United Front would have the high ground in this showdown because they outnumbered the Eastern Faction forces by a good margin. But they were utterly defeated nevertheless. The Eastern Faction's elite air squadrons such as Strigon and Vampire teams and the new super weapon Aigaion completely turned the tables. Only a week later, the Lyes United Front lost 80% of their territory. After that, the remaining Lyes forces continued resistance while retreating, but lot of them were wiped out in the battle that took place in the area bordered by Emmeria in a last-ditch attempt by Lyes to turn the tide of the war in the LUF's favour. Lieutenant General Lyes was killed in action during the battle, and the Civil War came to a close.

Towards Estovakia's Recovery Edit
After the end of the Civil War, the executives of each Faction with Supreme Commander Dvornik being the head along with remaining politicians and bearucrats, who were called the Generals, became new leaders of the nation and established a new government. Estovakia started down the road for recovery here. But the nation was thoroughly exhausted due to the astral disasters and the Civil War. Due to political and social upheavals, rebuilding of Estovakia did not proceed as they expected. And so, the Generals publicly schemed to invade the wealthy country of Emmeria and start the Anean Continental War.

The Anean Continental War, also known as the Emmeria-Estovakia War, was a ride of terror for both Emmeria and Estovakia.

Before the WarEdit
In 1994 ,an asteroid named Ulysses was steaming towards Earth. Countries including Belka, Estovakia, and Osea tried intercepting the asteroid by building giant cannons, as well as railguns and a fortress. The Federal Republic of Estovakia decided to design a giant rail gun known as the Chandelier, to intercept the asteroid. However, its construction was not completed when the asteroid hit.
Many countries were hit severely by the Ulysses asteroid. One continent took the brunt of the meteor, the Usean continent. The Anean continent also sustained damage. This included two neighboring countries, the hard-hit Federal Republic of Estovakia and the wealthy Republic of Emmeria. Estovakia was devastated by this hit and completely lost its government; many people died and a part of a city was destroyed. Estovakia fell into a large, raging civil war. Emmeria also sustained damage hurting their economy greatly. Once they sustained their country, Emmeria began to fund Estovakia in hopes of ending their tragic and harsh time. However, Emmeria soon realized that this party used the money to fuel the war. Once information was released, Emmeria blocked all funding to Estovakia.

End of the Civil WarEdit
One by one, most politicians escaped the country. Soon, there was no one to run the government. Six generals rose up from the military and declared martial law under a three-way military dictatorship. Believing that Emmeria could have supported more, they schemed to invade their wealthy neighbor
Beginning of the WarEdit
On August 30th, 2015, an unexpected attack was placed upon Emmeria's capital, Gracemeria. Estovakia sent in bombers and chopper units, along with fighters to escort these. The battle was nearly over with the REAF (Republic of Emmeria Air Force) protecting its city. However, Nimbus cruise missiles launched from the P-1112 Aigaion devastated the city. Despite their loyalty to their capital, Emmerian forces were forced to retreat west to the city of Vitoze, a small perimeter on Khesed Island. They had just been engaged with Estovakia's 9th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Strigon" and their leader, Victor Voychek. Voychek sustained injuries from the war and walks with a cane.

Taking Over KhesedEdit
Immediately after residing at Khesed Island, Vitoze was attacked by heavy enemy bombers. Talisman and fellow air units, working with radar facilities on the ground providing electronic support, were able to eliminate all ten Estovakian B-52H Stratofortress bombers from the area. With enemy forces around Khesed significantly weakened, the Emmerian Joint Chiefs of Staff launched their first counter-attack, on enemy forces placed at Sipli Field farther in Khesed. After expert covering ground battalions, Talisman and Shamrock (28th Fighter Squadron "Garuda") proved themselves again as the enemy was forced to retreat to Bartolomeo Fortress, located in the center of Khesed.
The Garuda Team provided more expert cover to tank battalions Warlock and Quox and the electronic support plane, Snake Pit. Emmerian forces were able to take over Bartolomeo Fortress and eliminate all enemy forces from all over Khesed Island, even after being attacked by two members of Strigon Team. With a strong base of operations, Emmeria decided to head over to the mainland.

Returning to AneaEdit
Moving into the mainland at Anea, Emmerian forces decided to take the city of Ortara, via a hovercraft invasion. After a long battle, Emmerian forces had eliminated hostile enemy forces from Ortara. Garuda team had provided cover for the Quox Armored Battalion's recapturing of the city, escorted the Yellow Jacket chopper unit to take the airport, assisted the Marigold Fleet in securing naval supremacy, and helped cover Warlock Separate Battalion's landing units. Immediately after losing the city, Estovakia sent in heavy reinforcements. Before they would wipe out the invading Emmerian forces, the Garuda team yet again devastated enemy forces and finally were able to assure complete control of Ortara. After months of planning and fighting, Emmerian forces have finally reached Anea.

Near Silvat Town, exhausted Emmerian forces had been endlessly on the defending side of a massive siege. They were outmatched 360 to 140. However, reinforcements - spearheaded by the Garuda Team - managed to get to the battlefield in time, and assisting air units were able to eliminate all Estovakian forces, free Silvat town, and give full relief to their exhausted forces.
Now Emmerian forces drew up a path straight to Gracemeria. However, it involved moving through a very mountainous region hard for ground troops to get through. The Garuda Team and air units including Snake Pit, Avalanche, and Sky Kid provided cover for the Warlock Separate Battalion, Snake Pit, and the Quox Armored Battalion, as well as destroy all enemy jamming facilities. After defending Warlock, Quox, and Snake Pit, Many sudden Nimbus cruise missiles were launched. All forces were to evacuate, but the Garuda team was to provide cover by shooting down the missiles' observation planes. They were successful, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff knew this wasn't the end of the cruise missile attacks. For in order to recapture Gracemeria, they needed to stop the dangerous projectiles from the base of operations.

Confronting the Aigaion and CeasefireEdit
Through intelligence inside Estovakian Command, the Emmerians discovered the source of the Nimbus missiles. In the Dead Sea, there is a airborne aircraft carrier called the P-1112 Aigaion, along with ESM P-1113 Kottos craft, and defensive craft called the P-1114 Gyges. This fleet could change the outcome of the entire war. The Joint Chiefs of Staff knew this and devised a plan to stop the Estovakians from using the floating fortress. They planned to retake San Loma for its airport so air units could resupply for the destruction of the Aigaion. The plan was to take the city by bombing, and takeover of the sea. Warlock Seperate Battalion focused on moving toward the city. Marigold Naval Fleet focused on sea superiority. Hammerhead Bomber Squadron focused on bombing main Estovakian ground forces. They, along with Garuda Team, successfully recaptured San Loma. The city would be their base of operations for the attack on the Aigaion.
Their next goal was to attack the Aigaion, Kottos, and Gyges. Using intelligence, the Joint Chiefs of Staff planned to attack when the Aigaion was refueling, due to the fact that its radar is down during the refueling process. Upon arriving during the Aigaion's mid-air fuel-up, the air units were ordered to immediately engage. A large portion of the Estovakian 9th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Strigon" was here, led by Strigon Two, and immediately launched from the Aigaion to engage Emmerian forces. The Garuda team, along with assisting air units, were able to defeat the whole Strigon team, got rid of the two massive electronic support craft (Kottos), destroy the defense craft (Gyges), and destroyed the Aigaion's engines and cockpit. As the massive warship fell towards the ocean, Shamrock said:

"Back to the sea you go. May you rest... in quiet slumber"
Once the huge ship was down, the Garuda Team earned immense popularity not only within the military, but with the government and the civilian population. Even radio hosts were talking about making medals dedicated to the Garuda One. This was the peak of Garuda's fame.
Next, Emmerian forces decided to take over the so-called impregnable Ragno Fortress. This was a particularly challenging operation, for the fortress was heavily guarded. It was in the midst of many cliffs, thus further complicating the issue. And worse, immediately as the Warlock Battalion saw the fortress, they were attacked by Estovakian chopper units. However, the Garuda One eliminated hostiles to Warlock, got rid of the enemy tank battalion immediately in front of the fortress. He then assisted Windhover in destroying substation facilities that powered the fortress. Finally, he assisted Yellow Jacket Chopper Unit by flying inside the tunnels and destroying the supply routes. It was then time to regroup and launch attacks on the fortress itself. The fortress had many gun towers and bunkers. Emmerian special forces gradually took the inside as Garuda destroyed turret stations and the control room. The recapturing was successful. Estovakia's last chance to block Emmerian forces failed.

Emmerian forces decided to take out Estovakian forces in the Moloch Desert, where a majority of Estovakian forces were being escorted into Gracemeria. Being right next door to Gracemeria, all Emmerian forces were anxious to go in. They fought valiantly and the Garuda team provided expert cover, as Estovakian forces fled the desert. However, a sudden and immediate call for cease-fire and retreat was ordered to all Emmerians by their Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Ghost Eye. Shamrock denied the order, explaining that he would not give up when he is so close to his family. Shamrock then cut off his radio and went on to attack Strigon Team. Talisman was forced to assist. They succeeded in shooting down all Strigon Team pilots, but with the price of Gracemeria.

Suspension, Revelation, and ReturnEdit
It was revealed that Estovakia had a Scorched Earth Policy for Gracemeria. If the Emmerians continued to advance at such a pace, weapons of mass destruction would be used on Gracemeria. By not complying with the order, the Garuda team sped up the transport of the chemical agent catalyst used for the weapon. This endangered all citizens of Gracemeria. Thus, they were suspended from 4:00 PM that day until further notice.
A plan had been drawn up and recently accepted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to destroy the enemy's catalyst transport vehicle. It was an extremely high risk operation, with anyone being spotted resulting in complete annihilation of Gracemeria. And there was only one group for such a mission... the Garuda team. They were to fly lower than 2000 feet to avoid detection from enemy radars while destroying all observation facilities on their path to the catalyst transport squad. In the beginning, Shamrock had a quote worth noting:

"Some people never pray to God unless they're in a lot of trouble. And we're only called 'aces' when people need us to bail them out. We're not a couple of private dancers for the military you know. [...] You're just as bad, Ghost Eye. I can't believe you've got the nerve to try and join up with us again."
After destroying all observation facilities and avoiding enemy radar detection, the Garuda team encountered the catalyst transport squad. They made quick work of them. Now they were to head west at any altitude back to base.
Returning did not go well. While coming, the Garuda team was intercepted by countless enemy fighters, as well as being attacked by a whole battalion. Things did not look took good; they were outnumbered about 40:2 and were in deep trouble. There were numerous enemy radar facilities providing electronic support for enemy missiles, further complicating Garuda's task. And it just so happened to be that Garuda had to engage and eliminate all hostiles instead of avoiding them.

To extreme luck, Garuda was immediately backed by several friendly Emmerian air units. The units consisted of Avalanche, Windhover, Sky Kid, Lanner, Snake Pit, and Stingray, as well as other unnamed air force fighter pilots. They all took out Estovakian forces from this area north of Gracemeria and returned home, knowing that their next stop was the capital, Gracemeria.

Through the Heart of a NationEdit
The Garuda team was taken off suspension and ready for assault on Gracemeria. The Joint Chiefs of Staff named it Operation Free Gracemeria and all Emmerian units—ground, air, and sea—were to join the attack. There were six bases of operations. Operation A assisted Steel Gunners Tank Battalion in taking the airport. Operation B was helping Quox Armored Battalion in recapturing the capitol. Operation C was assisting Warlock Seperate Battalion in recapturing the radio station. Operation D was helping Marigold Naval Fleet claim sea superiority. Operation E was helping Avalanche destroy all enemy jammer aircraft, Operation F was assisting Windhover destroy ESM craft. The recapture seemed to be complete. All Estovakian forces were destroyed, all areas recaptured. Until, Strigon Team entered the battlefield along with a new Strigon One, Ilya Pasternak. He then ordered all Strigon Team members to exit the area and return to Estovakia. At first, they disobeyed, but through careful thought, they disabled the formation and left the airspace. Now, it was Pasternak vs Talisman. Emmeria's Ace vs Estovakia's Ace. After a long and tiring battle, Talisman successfully shot down Ilya Pasternak. Emmeria has liberated Gracemeria and the war was over.
Back to the BeginningEdit
That night, a blazing fireworks show around the city was held. Emmerian air units, particularly Garuda, were to fly around and patrol the city to eliminate any Estovakian resistance. Shamrock was sad and mad about his family... according to him, it was just confirmed that his family was killed in the invasion. After careful consideration, he plans to leave the REAF. He explains the grief that he endures as Talisman and him patrol the Kings Bridge. Before ending the patrol, Snake Pit caught a small, fast-moving object over the northeast sector of city. As Ghost Eye claims, this unknown was not a fighter, due to it's incredible speed.
The war with Estovakia had begun again. Upon reaching the skies of Gracemeria, it separated into several cruise missiles cluttered together. These were a grave threat to the city's integrity, and Garuda sprung to intercept them before they could hit designated target spots across the town, including the local military base. And if that wasn't enough, several stealth fighters and attackers joined the fray so as to prevent the destruction of the missiles, and distract the ground troops so they couldn't attack the missiles from below, respectively. After nine waves of enemy cruise missiles, the shots came to an end. For the second time in this war, Emmerians were faced with a cruise missile threat, the first being that of the P-1112 Aigaion Nimbus missiles, and the second time unknown. Shamrock decides to stay in the REAF until the war is officially over.

Victor Voychek, former Strigon Captain, gave the blueprints for the super weapon that launched the cruise missiles, the Chandelier, to Melissa Herman, a citizen of Gracemeria. It turns out that the Chandelier was supposed to be used to intercept the Ulysses Asteroid before it reaching Estovakia, but construction was incomplete by the time the Asteroid hit. Now it seemed that construction was now completed and "The Generals" are using it to wipe out Gracemeria. The blueprints also gave out the weakness of the Chandelier. There are 12 cooling units that would cause the cannon to overheat if all were destroyed. Emmeria quickly responded by sending out all active REAF pilots, including Ghost Eye, to end the war by defeating this mechanical monster.

Once all cooling units on the Chandelier were destroyed by Emmerian forces, the cannon didn't overheat. It turned out that there was a back up cooling unit inside the base of the Chandelier. Shamrock gets data on the cooling unit by flying into the base alone. He flies through heavy anti-aircraft gun fire, suffering major damage, but evidently required the information needed. Ghost Eye recieves the data as Garuda Two loses thrust. There is a crash heard once his plane is off-screen. Ghost Eye gets emotional, ordering all units to save Shamrock.

Talisman was able to destroy the back up cooling unit, but in order for the gun to overheat, it would need to shoot. One more shot would end up in Gracemeria annihilation. The gun's barrel opens up, and Talisman expertly flies into it and destroys the core while avoiding being hit. Talisman manages to escape before it's engulfed by a massive explosion. As the Chandelier is collapsing into the ice, Emmerian Forces leave knowing the war is finally over. The destruction of the Chandelier marked the ending of Ulysses' legacy in modern history and the end of the Anean Continental War. This event led to "The Generals" being taken over as a Ceasefire agreement will be discussed between Emmerian and Estovakian leaders. After a long and dangerous year, peace and prosperity emerged. It is also known that Shamrock survived the crash and is currently in a wheelchair temporarily. He is going through rehab and is on the REAF inactive list.

NOTE: The Kingdom of Nordennavic is the only country on the Anean Continent to not participate in the war. However, it is believed that they were neutral but supported some Emmerian refugees. However, Ace Combat: Northern Wings shows that Nordennavic was somewhat involved, as the Grendel squadron also took part in the war.
