You are not your personality, your desires, your fears, your memories, or anything else you might define as I. These are all witnessed by you but they are not really you. Ego is an illusion of the Self. And the Self is nothing other than existence itself. I am that I am. Every one of us is intimately connected to the rest of the universe in the same way a wave can never be separated from the ocean.

On the level of the ego you may find yourself searching for meaning, for purpose. You may or may not be successful in finding a reason to go on. But seen from the Self, the only meaning of Life is Life itself. You are your own purpose.
