I absolutely love this game. It is my favorite type of game. There are a few bugs simply can't be overlooked right now. I had Blink in my slot 5 spell suddenly disappear, and it appeared in the middle of my window. Now, it obstructs my view and I can't swap it, so I'm stuck with a spell that's nearly useless for a fighter. Needs a save feature BADLY. I would also like to see a way to not auto-delete items when you pick up something that the game thinks is better. I found that it would swap a +2 attack +2 defense ring (good for fighter) for a +4 spirit +1 life ring (lame) because it had more total stats. I would also like to see the ability to have three or four character slots to save to, that way I could have one of each class.
Thank you for your work on this game! It has such amazing potential. I really hope you see this through and fix the bugs, because if you do it will be quite an amazing little flash roguelike.
Once these bugs are fixed, I will rate 5.
24105 was by best score on completing the "kill the ninja" quest. I played this game for 18 minutes and did 4 quests.
Spend about 50 turns looking for weapon/armor upgrades and yellow/red potions. Then fight level 1 enemies until you're level 3 while looking for boss/target. Once level 3, fight level 3 mobs until you're level 5. By then, you should have 6 heal pots and at least level 6 sword/shield. Then you can take down anything in the game. By then, you should have a spare 150 turns to wander around looking for your target. If you found it by then, level up a bit more and get level 7 sword/shield if possible.
After getting Anubis up to about level 75, take a level 1 Echidna and equip "The K", which gives +exp. Then I fought the third area final boss (the one unlocked after completing the main quest, two ghouls then liche). This awarded me with 22.49 million exp and took her straight to level 99. Tried duplicating it but it wouldn't work with any other avatar. Unfortunately, Echidna is useless except against maybe one boss. >:\ Definitely a 5/5 on this one though. Hard without being too hard, forced me to level multiple avatars to promote diversity and offer a winning strategy against tough bosses!
The game has a lot of bugs. The defense bonus on towns should be higher. The enemy gets free armies so no matter how many towns or mines you take, they keep rolling out armies at the same rate, fully upgraded and fully healed. Units that aren't dead should heal completely at the start of each turn if they end turn on a town. Gold and iron should not max out at 9999. Spending money to hire militia is a waste since you lose that money as soon as you move to the next level. Also, going back to the menu erases your game with no way to return. Needs a save feature. Units miss constantly, should be much more rare.
This game needs a lot of work and I do not recommend it until many of the issues are fixed. It takes along time to play and becomes very buggy and frustrating.
