Under rating threshold (show) I assume from this that there is not a way to get a list of all the possible Kongpanions? Just the ones that a provided user has?

Under rating threshold (show) I think there are a few more features I'd want as a dev. Date Range for the availability of that Kongpanion. (ex: Let's say I want to search for all Christmas Kongpanions, or New Years or other special date in game, but I want to organize 'Panions in a yearly cycle to determine their stats). I'd also like the following two data bits: How many got that Kongpanion, which number you got. And 2, how many people got that Kongpanion as SHINY, and which number you got (20,102 people got shiny Kongbot, I got #4594 Shiny) These two final bits might allow a designer to further refine stat boosts.

Under rating threshold (show) It seems to me that a developer would have to know of each Kongpanion if they wanted to treat them differently. And any Kongpanion released after the game comes out will be a problem in this case. For example: Say you had a racing game and you wanted each Kongpanion to have some unique set of bonuses to it. Since Kong does not provide any meta data that can be translated into anything like a stat boost the dev would have to have the list of Kongpanions and assign them manually. But what happens to new Kongpanions? Same thing for a battle game or adventure game where your Kongpanion is a pet that gives your character a boost. So in the current implementation the dev can make all Kongpanions the same (which would be dumb... what is the point of having any specific one other than collection?) or give you some sort of boost based on quantity of Kongpanions owned. Under rating threshold (show) So, it seems that Kong should add some sort of "hint" on what a specific Kongpanion is good at. The dev can ignore this of course, but they could also translate this into something for their game (maybe Kongbot gives +2 reach and +2 strength (lasers and how he is always holding up things on the error page), maybe Puff gives +2 speed. Maybe Fox makes your character smaller (size -1) so they are harder to hit or can get into a smaller passage... I don't know. The point is that this would be very helpful (as then developers could handle better Kongpanions released after the game was. (2 of 3)

Under rating threshold (show) I also think that a list should be made available of all the Kongpanions, and a way to get the stats on every Kongpanion via the API (maybe via a seperate call or by some known user that is guaranteed to have them all). This way the developer can allow those players that didn't earn a Kongpanion the week it came out to earn it "in game" or maybe that they are "the enemy" since you didn't earn them (in the background on a racing game, they attack you in an adventure game, etc). -Pip (3/3)

Under rating threshold (show) Yup, that's why I suggested that each Kongpanion also supply a date range. That way you can use the date range to supply a pre-set predictable stat boost to each kongpanion without knowing the future for years to come. I'd say certain Kongpanions at certain times of year would be likely to have similar features. Especially when you get around to things like Halloween or Christmas. I'm sure we will see panions something like Pumpkin O'Grady (the great pumpkin), or Deer Rudy (rudolph). But if the date range idea is not specific enough, maybe Kong will allow a full list of "Tags" so game devs won't spill the beans on all the future Panions. If it's just a gigantic list of tags it makes it much harder to guess what specifically is coming down the pike. So perhaps Kongregate should work on making each Panion a much bigger tag list.

Under rating threshold (show) Maybe you can use the name of the Kongpanion to generate your data range

Under rating threshold (show) Having some issues pulling the Kongpanion data in JS. See my post in the game programming forum: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/4-game-programming/topics/493101-javascript-kongpanion-issue?page=1#posts-9206665

Under rating threshold (show) I had some trouble with loading the kongpanions, it worked locally but when I uploaded to kongregate it didn't load the actual kongpanion images. All API worked but not the images. After a while a realized that they are located on https://assets.kongerate.com, maybe it was the secure server that was the problem. Well adding this solved my problem: Security.allowDomain("*"); Security.allowInsecureDomain("*"); Security.loadPolicyFile("https://assets.kongregate.com/crossdomain.xml");
