2/5 - I like CCGs and this game clearly has high production values. However, it also has a number of anti-features such as energy, which serve no purpose but to frustrate the player, and/or force them to play in many small increments throughout the day instead of in one sitting. Dual currency systems is also cumbersome and a blunt instrument for trying to extract kreds. For this reason I'm hesitant to even give 2 stars.

Also having to wait six hours for an egg to hatch kinda kills the excitement. The concept really fascinates me, but it's almost like the creators don't want people to give it a chance. Also how do you get more stables? The expansion is perpetually grayed out.

Sorry for the duplicate comments. I guess kongregate hides author comments for a while on new games and then publishes them all later. Thanks for the advice everyone. I doubt any of you will see the game again with the improvements since the game will no longer be on a new game list, but I'm doing this to learn and I still really appreciate them.

Pretty simple and straightforward. I like the idea. I have a couple of suggestions, too. I think putting the instructions into the game might be a good idea. I played a few times, just running away because I didn't realize I could deflect the balls! The other thing is that the collision detection feels overly harsh. I could be wrong, but it seems like there are times when the ball hits the edge of my white deflector, but I still die.

I'm a bit unclear on this still. I followed this tutorial and copied the three movie clip objects into one of my games and put a mute button instance onto the stage of my game, but it didn't work. It also seems a bit odd that both the sound on and the sound off clips only have code in their first frames. I don't really have much experience with AS2, or this style of putting code into movie clip objects this way though.

This game really left me at a loss... on one hand the basic user interface is terrible. After getting just a few card packs, it's unmanageable. The search is either broken or very weird (why not alphabetize the cards!?), stats can't be viewed when the user actually wants to look at them, instead the user has to go to a separate "browser" mode. It's almost as if the creator didn't even bother play testing it. On the other hand, as a novice game designer myself, I'm blown away by the production values. The interface, unusable as it may be, is beautiful. There are tons and tons of cards, each with good artwork. What kind of person would put hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours into polishing a game far beyond the norm but forgo five hours of work on the UI that would have helped the playing experience 100 times more?

I was just thinking of making a tetris clone myself, so I searched for yours. It seems pretty decent, but there's some kind of weird lag in the controls. I experienced the same problem when making the kongregate shootorial. I wonder if it's related to clearing the keyboard buffer.

azngamerXD, remaking classics, aka "stealing original concepts" is a standard practice for aspiring game programmers. Thank you for your advice about the music, though. Is there anything more specific you could recommend in the "1 more month of work" to do on it? I'm planning on making another paddle game with many more features after cloning a few other classics such as Tetris.

I've really enjoyed all of these tutorials, and I hate to nitpick. However, the first page says we'll bq. "Add the Kong Stats and High Scores API" But it never happens! The tutorial definitely helped mitigate some of the frustrations of moving to AS3, but over promising leads to disappointment. Which Kong API tutorial is current? There seem to be a lot of deprecated ones.

These tutorials are great. AS3 seems really verbose to me, though. I'm also surprised how different it is from AS2. In what way is it an improvement?

It's a fair question, Promaetheus. This game is based on the shootorials, but it's not completely the same. The biggest single difference is the addition of wingmen (when you pick up the shiny "W"). Aside from that, the shield is different, the enemies can approach at any angle instead of just two, the firing rates are different, the minibosses shoot large pellets in two directions at once and the final boss is very different. My next project will also be derivative, but hopefully each one will be less and less so!

This game is unbelievably boring. After making some buildings generate resources, it takes F*&#ing forever to generate enough to do anything else. Just sitting around waiting for the next "tick" is probably the least gratifying gaming experience I've ever had. Maybe the author thinks this will make me break down and buy tokens. Screw that.

I guess countries in this world close their borders via force-fields that also prevent rodents, insects water or even air from crossing. I wish it were possible to rate a game zero stars.
