Not a bad idea, but really needs a tutorial, and a less steep learning curve. Be nice to be able to get back to the main menu to see the instructions after you've started too!
To repeat, after level 205, each level has the same parameters (but the grid is randomly generated), but it doesn't end :) If you can solve each and every one after that you deserve an endurance badge :) In custom mode you can do a 'harder' grid than in the normal mode, though.
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I probably should have thought to give a reward for a pentris... Anyway, I've got pentrix-plus (or pentrix 2) on my todo list at the moment so hopefully some of these features will appear :)
The level generator is limited so that after level 205, every level has the same parameters (although the level number does go up :) - should be 20/wrap/21/25/30. You can get a bigger grid on custom mode, but it gets a bit too small to see properly and adding too many dummies or links makes it a bit too easy. I'm quite amazed anyone got to 200! Glad you're all enjoying it.
It's a nice enough idea, but there's just no game here - no aims or objectives, no hazards, just dodge a few things and get to the end. Feels more like a first level of a game than a real game.
The pseudo-3d style is quite interesting, but it feels a bit broken - there's some errors in perspective with the trees in the first level for example. I found the inability to go back really fustrating, especially given it's hard to be sure why you're dying sometimes. I also felt it was a bit annoying that there's no real way to avoid the ambushes - you can't sneak past, or skirt around the trees to see if there's someone there.
Not a bad game. I like the idea, but the controls get a bit fiddly - hard to know what planet you have selected sometimes, and what you're sending. Good tutorial though, I always like interactive ones. The computer players suffer a bit from being too fast - it's really hard to keep up with them.
A good first effort - clearly the game needs more words, but it's got clean graphics and it works properly, which is more than you can say for a lot of first games!
I agree with your concept that it's fustrating to die after one hit... but it takes more than that to make a good game. Plus... the game is far too tall - more than 600 pixels or so is too much (think of the browser window, the toolbars, etc).
It's fairly pretty, and as an established game, not too bad. But the AI is pretty bad, and there's a few bugs - my current game is stuck with the AI not knowing how to make a move. All in all not all that great.
This game is fairly well written - it feels polished. It has some innovation too, which helps. But it suffers on two counts; it's just not all that interesting - it's simply about timing - and the lives system is simply fustrating, making you repeat levels for no real benefit.
