Press escape to jump.

Pro-tips:
-Your jumps will have an extra boost if you jump while moving upward.
-The laser speeds up over time; climb quickly in the beginning to help ensure that you're not overtaken in the more technical areas later.

I jumped up to the laser and fell down before it activated, in the hopes it would rise up and i wouldn't have anything chasing me...

Finally a game for my escape key, poor little guy just sitting there only gets attention when I need to pause a game and bring up a menu.
