Description
Row out onto a dark lake with a lantern, a rod and the feeling that something below is watching.
Night Lake is a calm, eerie fishing game. Cast your float, strike when it goes under and fight every fish to the boat. Sell your catch, buy better tackle and row on to new waters: a jungle bayou, a frozen lake, a flooded quarry, a glowworm cave, a lighthouse cove by the sea and more.
But the lake is not empty. A shadow longer than your boat glides underneath. Monsters need their own bait and strong gear, and every lake hides a legend that rises only for the right bait after midnight.
- Float, lure and feeder fishing
- Trophy and Unique sizes in your Field Guide
- Monsters and a legend in every lake
- A shared public lake with other players, or co-op with a friend
- Lake maps, a second rod, an idle pond, daily gifts
- On a computer: Realistic graphics with a different weather every night
- English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, German, French
Progress saves automatically, no account needed.
Everything in the game is earned by fishing. You can support the developer with an optional Kred donation (in-app purchase in Settings): a thank-you and a heart by your name, nothing that changes the game.
Age rating: 12+ (tense atmosphere, no gore). Solo developer: scenery, interface, icons and fish motion drawn in code; fish pictures, boat, fisherman and sounds made with AI tools and finished by hand.
How to Play
Hold Left Click on the water to aim, release to cast.
Click or Space when the float really goes under, then hold to reel in.
In a fight, keep the tension out of the red and hold A/D to lean the rod away from the fish.
Row with W/S and A/D (or the arrow keys), or Right Click the water to row there.
E opens the dock shop at the dock. H shows all the other keys in the game.
Developer Updates
Night Lake v1.38 โ Chat, deeper water shown, Dock Shop fixes
- No more searching for โthe deepest partโ: when your monster bait needs deeper water, the nearest deep enough water is circled in gold on the lake, and an arrow at the edge of the screen points to it with the distance.
- Say is now Chat. Its button counts what happened on your lake since you last looked, and youโll find everything said and caught there.
- New messages: Congratulations!, Nice boat! and Going AFK.
- When someone on your lake earns a badge, you see it, with a one-click Congratulations.
- Choose which message each number key 1 to 0 sends: press Keys in the Chat.
- Settings: choose whether other playersโ catches, badges and messages show on your screen. They always stay in the Chat.
- โFish here!โ now marks the spot where your last fish was hooked, and โLegend here!โ the spot of the legend, not your boat.
- The zone you are in (top right) is easier to see: on a dark plate, green near the shore, blue in open water, gold in the deep, with a short pulse when you cross into another zone.
- Dock Shop: the favourite star for charms is there too, and baits and attractants you own have a tick on their icon to put them on.
Thank you, societal and SinisterDan, for the reports and ideas!
Your progress is kept as always. Good fishing!

When catching a fish the meter goes to 0.6m and just freezes there until the blue bar at the top empties. No matter how quickly you reel in the fish it will not actually catch it until that top bar is empty for some reason.
Thanks a lot for reporting this, it was a real problem! Until now the line could reach 0.6 m while the fish still had strength, so it looked frozen. It's fixed in today's update: a fish with strength left now fights about 2 m from the boat and tires quickly there, and once the blue bar is empty it comes straight in. Good tackle also tires fish faster now. Thanks for helping make Night Lake better!

anyone aiming for first legend -> it started going after "rotten meat" bait after I equipped abyss rod (monster%) and monster% charm -> this fish is weaker than ghost monsters so it can be caught rather easily
Great tip, thanks for sharing! One small note for anyone reading: the rod and the charm help the monsters bite, and that is what wakes a legend: once every monster of the lake is landed, it hunts after midnight on its offering. The later legends are a lot tougher, so save some strength for those.

Hey everyone!
First of all, thank you for playing Night Lake. Every comment, rating and bug report means a lot to me. I make this game on my own, and seeing you out on the water every night keeps me going.
I also want to say sorry for the problems some of you ran into: the long waits for a bite, the Reed Wraith that wouldnโt take the lure, and the other bugs you reported. Most of them are fixed now, and Iโm still working through the rest.
As a thank you, something is coming in a few days, made the Night Lake way. Somewhere the pumpkins burn all night, a bell rings where no bell hangs, and not everything floating on the water is a pumpkin.
One thing I want to be clear about: there are no in-app purchases. Everything new is bought only with the coins you earn by fishing. No real money, no shortcuts.
A tip if you play on a computer: try Settings > Realistic. From now on it is where the biggest differences are: living water, weather on every lake, trees an
and reeds moving in the wind, and much more life under the surface. If your computer handles it, youโll see the lakes in a whole new way. I keep improving the graphics all the time, so the game looks better with every update, right in your browser. You shouldnโt have to download a huge game just to see something beautiful. If thereโs something youโd love to see for Halloween, tell me in the comments. Thereโs still time to add a few of your ideas. Thanks again, and tight lines!

I've been loving the game so far and its been fun to come back to all the updates. A couple things I noticed and suggestions:
- Regarding the bait hints now guiding you to deeper water. It would be cool to have depth in metres displayed on the sonar (Potentially as a purchase on the shop). As this would make the hunt for Ironjaw feel more player controlled and be satisfying to see higher depths when hunting legends.
- In the fish bond, I have 9 fish and no longer see the pond where they swim around (And ghosts looked like regular fish)
- When catching ghosts, it would be useful if the field guides also showed the non-ghost bait required to catch them to prevent flicking between the Fish and Ghosts screen.
- Bringing back some of the old bait art in the new style would be nice (Such as Liver, rotten meat and cursed bait which used to have a lot more character)
Thank you, this is really useful! The pond not showing your fish with 9 of them sounds like a bug on our side: weโre looking into it now, along with how ghost fish appear there. Showing the regular bait for ghosts in the field guide is a great idea and should be easy to add. Depth on the sonar and giving the old baits more character again are both on our list to think about. Glad you keep coming back!

I love games that have a save code feature. Thank you for that!
Thank you! It's in Settings > Transfer progress: your fish, gear and coins go with you to any browser or device, and nothing is lost when you bring them over.
