Lol theres so many people saying they got times under 300, but in reality, you can't. There is an achievement you get at 300. So the best possible time is 300 seconds.

total confusion: push space, contra code: press up up down down left right left right a b, colors press 1-4, stalagmite skewer yourself at high speed on a spike pointing up or down, forget which. 5/5, I got 330 seconds for best time.

You need to do a Contra cheat, not type Contra. Google "Contra cheats" if this isn't it: Left, Left, Right, Right, Up, Down, Up, Down. Do that on your arrow keys and you'll get the achievement.

lol Omi, Too much Contra is achieved with, IIRC, the Konami Code. If you don't know what that is, you don't deserve to win.
