i haven't gotten the hard badge YET, but i'm going to go ahead and share my strategy: the only two units i use are the Elf Ranger (wind) and the Puppy Dragon (fire), and then i place my hero in front of them to act as a protective wall, as they're both ranged units. then, when i level up, i put my stats into health/defense so i can tank for longer and i use my mana on the healing spell. i'm not sure if i bought the Puppy Dragons or if i unlocked them by playing, but i'm pretty sure you start out with the Elf Rangers.

1 star for connectivity issues. Seems to have been traffic related. Tried several times on BOTD day, could not connect, decided that the effort required just to get into the game ought to get a badge, BOTD points lost. Tried today, just out of curiosity, almost immediate connection. Not going to bother playing, though. (Apologies for double comment, previous comment was not complete.)

For all those who have connectivity issues, try clicking in game then pressing TAB until the yellow box is over the 'start game' button, press enter, wait 10 seconds. Try again if it doesn't work.

Guess I should thank Kong for this not working? It sounds like an awful game that should not exist, so thanks for not making me endure it.
Pretty dumb to have a badge for it, though...does anybody at Kong actually try to play these things?

Very exciting. From the moment the connecting prompt flashed up, I didn't know what would happen next. Would it load? Would it stay like that forever? Tensions only ramped after the thirty second mark. The graphics are stellar, though the animations could use some work: for example, maybe have the ellipsis after the word "connecting" move a bit while its loading, to give us a sense of motion. Other than that, excellent game, 4.5/5.

If you can load, go toe to toe with their hero and summon ranged units. your swings kill their units as well as damaging the hero, and your ranged units kill the hero quickly. works for the whole hard badge, assuming you use the right units, on the last battle you do need some melee cannon fodder, but only twice.

IF you can't get it to load, screenshot the not loading, and submit it through the failed badge thing, enough people do they might take notice.

A BOTD and the game doesn't even work. That's really stupid. I have looked on the forums and did what they said and its still not working. Ugh. Really Kongregate?
