My team is made of a shield/spear characeter, 2 weapon character and a 2 handed weapon character, I did because its fun to have 1 of wich kind, in my opnion. So, when the battle begins, I'm able to kill 1 or 2 oppenents before the "atack" guys dies while I keep using shield bash with the "defense" girl haha. Now, thats the point, I know you had to balance the shield bash, it was unbalanced, thats true, but the counter atack skill now its so rare to work and I got 10/10. I use shield bash since the first move and I've seen counter atacks works like 1 or 2 times only, please take a look on that! Thx for the awesome game!

I don't understand the"hit %". I counted 16 misses in a row at 50% chance to hit with no dodges, just misses. Does the hit% actually reflect the chance to hit?

I'm finding the game doesn't save anymore, no matter what i change, i close and come back and it's as it was before... maybe the server-side save is bugged?

Rly nice game, bringing memories of "Swords and sandals" series.
My suggestions:
When player miss, his oponent should have +hit% bonus against the player who miss and only vs him (5% or so).
The same when opponent dodge the attack.
Also adding dodge animation will be nice.

Why when you use protect does the character not always jump imbetween the fight, It only seems to work 3/4 of the time.

I kept doing that until my opponent had only 2x/4x guys, berserk guys, morale guys or “throw” guys. Since my speed was so high, I would have at least one of my guys attacking first or second, my first move (no matter what) was always to use protect on my main attacker (2x/4x guy on my team) then I would wait till my opponent used all their mana points up because the computer uses weak, medium and strong attack once their mana is up, after that it was only a matter of waiting for your guy to keep counter attacking the enemy until you kill them all. P.S I achieved this goal before the new update, I’m not a 100% sure if my strategy would work now since berserkstudios decided to weaken the shield bash and the counter attack but this is the only possible strategy that could give you the final goal in Rome. P.p.s the weapon the blacksmith creates is well worth the time to get the gold bar. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions just message me and I’ll try to help you.

TerminatoreGTX, I beat the challenge by having 3 level 58's, resetting their stats and putting all the points in the speed category and a bit in the dexterity category. I had my guys with speeds of 210-260. I made sure the armour I put was always increasing their speed rather than charisma or defence or vitality. I had 2 guys with shield bash, protect and regeneration (you don’t have to max regeneration) I put my extra points for the “throw” attack but you should only use shield bash. My other guy had a speed of about 200 and strength at 191 and dexterity at 150 (I got those category’s really high because of the armour I used) he had the 2x and 4x attack and would always hit about 1/4 or 2/4 when I used the 4x attack. I figured out that the more wins I got in the contender battles the stronger my opponent got, so by the time I had 18-19 wins my enemy was pretty much invincible, so what I would do is start a fight, if my opponent had a guy with shield bash I would quit right away,

You know it sure would be great if it says it hit 82% of the time that it actually hit 82% of the time not 60% of the time. Other than the hit ratio great game.

I have 2 warriors on my team that have nothing but meele offensive skills. So when they got their arms ripped or a leg cutten they can do nothing but to block/crowd appeal. So instead of having to pick block/crowd appeal skill on every turn - since i don't have any techniques i could use at all - they should automatically random pick block/crowd appeal. That way the battle could go a lot faster and i wouldn't be so annoyed to pick a move on my crippled meele warrior every turn.

So many cities. So little time. So many Gladiators in the arena. Omg. I wish the items were cheaper, easier to get metals, better slaves, easier Gladiators, a boss at the end. also i would like a story to go with the game. like with every boss you defeat you get closer to your ultimate goal, like finding out who my father is or something. otherwise great game. too much lag and slow animations by the way. :D (Please use my feedback to improve the game)

Bizzare bugs that are totally awesome: Retiarius has only one arm left in which he holds his shield and (with his imaginary third arm) paralyzes an opponent. Murmillo is missing a leg and sitting on one knee. Not only is his blocking rate just as good but he also still counters. In the best case, he even wins the game that way all by himself and then hops around his only leg to execute everybody. If it wasn't as funny I might have started having nightmares of the one-legged executioner. Great szenes BerzerkStudio!

I know its not much but I had a MP booster in row three, and when my 2 manual guys died and he was left, he had a shouting battle with the only member alive on their theam, which was a MP booster. I had to quit to continue playing. Just wanted to say.

Is there a upper limit to respecing, or does it go up $1000 each time, I'd like to know because I'd like to see what other specs do... but if the cost goes up 1000 each time, isn't that a little too much?

@Iron_Mammoth: Yeah except the spear throwers... Also, if they are using a two handed weapon, look at the armor/health on both legs and arms and go for whichever is weakest.

Get strongest weapon you can, and always go for the enemies legs, only one leg for each person, so they cant attack you.

Would be nice to have some magic abilities. i.e. if you lose a limb you can do something useful instead of justending every turn

Wth? So, at reaching level 47, Rome's contendor battles, just like that, increased in difficulty by AT LEAST a factor 2. What gives?

i am not to far in the game but since this is a game with gladiators why not fight beasts in another part of the coliseum like you could have a button that you can click to switch the options between human and animal opponents animals like wild dogs in the first coliseum but in the last few you fight giants but if you want it more realistic try lions

1.) give us an option to turn of blood splattering. lags much. 2.) HP bonus on equipment is way too low. Either get rid of it or increase it by a lot.
