god I played this game a shitton of time some years ago, and I still don't have a hard badge, but at least I managed to get the epic thingy :)

when the skull comes on, either 1) hit the skull straight after it shoots or 2) hit it before it shoots and run to a place where it won't damage you. Try to stay out of its direct hit.

Wow! Actually I don't remember this fight being so easy back in 2013... Tips to stay away from attacks: 1)Don't jump on platforms unless you want to knock down the tombstones. Jumping around may distract you. 2)Stay close to the head, whacking at it. You'll level up faster that way and will be aware of what the head's next move will be. 3)Look out for it's tongue: the spreading beard attack is near. You may have to experiment with the beard's attack distance. Usually your weapon outranges it. 4)Keep away from spinning moustache it chases you. 5)When the head goes to the middle, stay below a platform. If something falls down, you'll have some extra time to move from it's way. 6)When you're at max level and want to *keep your distance from the scull and learn its patterns*, you can charge up your magic attack and hit the scull with it, as its moving pattern is predictable. You'll know where it stops and can time the magic attack.

Yeah basically the easiest way to win is just wack the tombstones around and when the guy shoots the laser, quickly run behind him and you won't get hit, just try to avoid the beard. The skull's easy because you'll be maxed out levelled up and can kill him in 5 hits

Why is everyone complaining, it's not that hard! Just learn the attack patterns, and stand in safe places. Whack your tombstones around a bit to level up and you'll soon beat the skull just by hitting it as it moves to a new location :)

Okay, finally beat the game. When Tom started transforming into the skull, I charged up my (almost full) magic and hit him with it as soon as the transformation finished. He was already in a corner, so I just continued smacking him over and over, which got my combo up to about 30 before I hit max level. By then, he'd already taken so much damage that I finished him off easily at that point.

This.... Isn't good. If it wasn't for the epic quest I would've stopped playing a while ago. The game's attempt at 'combos' falls flat because there is one attack button. I'm not sure if it's the jumping or the terrain, but the platforming feels cheap. When I die, I don't feel like it was my fault. I always think it was something wrong with the game that killed me. This thing is cheap and just poorly made, and should be ashamed to have the Castle Crashers name attached to it. I know it's free, but there are so, so many better free games that don't feel like they're wasting your time, despite the fact they most likely are. This is just rushed. I'm sorry to have to say (well, type) that.

It's amazing how changing 1 tiny part of my strategy took me from struggling to get him to half health to suddenly beating the whole thing in the time limit and only needing 1 life.

Idk why everyone thinks it's so hard. just him once or twice as a skull every time he moves, dodge his fireballs, and win.

Easily kill skull:
1.) First understand that he shoots from only three places. Far left, far right, and middle.
2.) Stand under the farthest left floating island when the skull is far left. One shot will pass above you. Don't move.
3.) Skull moves to middle and shoots. Fireball passes in front of you. Run to the right side.
4.) Another fireball will pass above you. Run to the right as soon as you see him. And repeat. You should never get hit.
5.) Finally, just keep running until you have magic, charge it while running, then release at Step 4 just before running back.
6.) Have fun!

My method for beating the skull: hit a group of tombstones away from the skull and level up until you're fab level. At that point, the skull should be pretty low from moving by you while you're hitting the tombstones so you can win. The skull fires at each side of the level and once nearish to you as it's transitioning from side to side. Hope this helps.

Hold A to use magic stuff.. And just hit him as he lasers on the left side of the map it works better on that side.. when he goes to the right use your magic then drop up on the platforms.

One good way to level up is to stack the tombstones together and simply keep hitting, try to get a good combo count and you will be level 4 pretty fast.

OH MY GOD!!! I'm dying over here! That last level-up is hilarious!!! Although, if you're going for the hard achievement, you can kiss it goodbye... :/

after 4 attempts on beating tom.. i finally know how to cast a spell, anybody else had that mistake? those last 4 failures didn't seem so bad after that discovery.

TIL -- 1) the skull is easier than the beard, you just have to have patience; hitting the beard from behind while he's lasering makes the first part a lot easier; 3) hitting tombstones gives you experience; 4) I don't care enough about the game to try the hard badge.
