@C: cooling circuits work *much better* than in your example, put a heat pipe next to the fuel, and 3 reflectors. from the heatpipe you can split the heat threeways (i did with more heatpipes, flanking lines of heatpipes with vents). i have two single nefastium cells running that way, about 60 vents connected to each. i need to figure out the correct number of vents to use .... with 11T heat in the reactor i make 1.2T/tick. its a bit tricky to keep the heat, i leave some uncooled lower fuel elements standing around for balancing.

To get the cooling of vents after todays update you have to divide the displayed amount by 8: displayed cooling / 8 = actual cooling
Knowing this makes planning possible again

Finally the building of cooling circuits works. Just a inexpensive carefully built first test: http://i.imgur.com/HZQF4SX.jpg ... i will improve it as soon the cell payd itself. It was not really affordable, so i made the cooling a bit overpowered. :D

my reactor is 3/4 filled with heat outlets and coolant cells and 1/4 filled with fuels and i am on almost 1.4 billion per tick

After the most recent update, I'd lost the Uranium Replacing upgrade thing, and all the tier'd upgrades started at (7). Resetting solved the problem, so I lost my stuff. But it's such a good game I don't mind :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Something's wrong in the new update. I figure either the vents are displaying the wrong amount of heat/tick or the fuel rods are. My vents (19.47B heat/tick) should be able to dissipate enough heat to handle two quad dolorium cells (8.17B heat/tick) per vent, but it's taking 4-5 vents just to handle one. Cheers.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I had a whole comment written with all sorts of numbers and math about why the vents aren't working, but then I realized it's the upgrades that aren't working. I really wish I could delete old comments! Anyway I hope this gets fixed soon, I'm having a real fun time with this game :)

Still noticing a discrepancy in the ratings for heat outlets and vents. Even down to the most basic units, the 24 heat per tick vented by the basic vent should easily win over the 16 heat per tick pulled by the outlet, and yet if I fill my reactor with 1000 heat and set a single vent next to a single outlet, the vent builds heat more rapidly than it can remove heat from itself, and explodes. This seems like a big problem, and potentially breaks one's ability to plan for anything.

Well I had given this game a 4/5 because I enjoyed it. But it just caused my display driver to crash and have to reboot itself. I'm going to switch my rating to 1. That's just terrible from a flash game.

Why does a heat vent (−948,75M heat/tick) placed in the middle of four non-adjacent power cells (+56,952M heat/tick) overheat? What did I miss on my calculation?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
ok i tried to give this time and give you a fair chance but these constant gaping math issues are enough to make me quit, i liked the game but next time you release a game make sure its balanced beforehand. 1/5

Small bug: If you place a basic coolant cell next to a fuel cell it will remove all the heat generated that tick instead of the 16k it says in the description. Very useful for lowering heat quickly and cheaply on 4 quad nef cells :)

1T idle build AFTER the new Patch http://i58.tinypic.com/2dr7u4k.jpg Its a easy Build iam using till the bug with the increased HEAT is fixed. Dont dare to try Nefastiums yet... Too expensive and probably too much heat to do anything with.

The upgrade prices are in magnitudes, but the effects are super linear, so... like getting a bunch of these things on the screen and idle can't happen anytime soon. Of course... I suppose that would be highly dependent on income, which would be considerably more if the numbers were as displayed.

I'm sure someone already suggested the idea, but how about letting us select a few tiles we can Copy/Paste(a la RPGMaker map editor)?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Man, I get that you're trying to improve the game, but it's really hard to get into it when your build is ruined every day. Some of it just seems like changes for the sake of making changes. It's definitely different, but not clear that it's actually better each build. Why not sit down and really spend some time on a new build that will make real substantive improvements and not be full of new bugs and exploits?

I've bought Improved vents (1), and am using the first level vent, but it is still working like the un-upgraded version. I placed a double-green next to it, and it got hotter, at 4 heat per tick. Um, is this me, or the update not working properly?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Is it just me or are the heat inlets and outlets now extremely underpowered?
Also, thanks for the constant updates. Like how you spend so much time tweaking and improving the game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm not sure if the math in the game is adding up correctly, or it's possible I am not doing something correctly, but I have my Ultimate Vents upgraded (thanks to the plating) to remove 1.441M heat per tick, meaning 4 of them should remove 5.764M heat per tick from a single Ultimate Heat Outlet (which outputs 5.12M heat per tick) if they surround it. And yet when I place 4 heat vents surrounding a space, then fill that space with an Ultimate Heat Outlet, the vents immediately explode. I don't understand why, because the numbers appear to add up correctly. I assume I am misunderstanding a game mechanic under the hood.

nefastium cells seem to be generating a lot more heat than is displayed in this latest version. Two vents at 60B/60B each blow up immediately with just one singe nef cell which is supposed to only generate 51B heat.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It's been stated before, but this is a rather severe bug and needs more exposure. Heat vents are either not venting the correct amount of heat, or fuel cells are not reporting the amount of heat they generate properly.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm lucky? I can run two nefastium fuels with 4 vents on them with 3 ultimate plates and the rest ultimate capacitors. I don't think this is what the dev was going for. 900B/t. The heat numbers are wrong somewhere, I think it's the vents, but, I'll have to make sure I make a profit with coolants, then switch to 4 coolants on nefastium rods, fill the screen, then grab an upgrade or two. Lasts about 2 minutes between changes for me or about 90 seconds on a time.

This game randomly freezes up my computer now =\... I don't know the problem but I just want you to know that it is impossible to play for me on my machine, it worked before the most recent update
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So the heat vent effectiveness upgrade is a lie. The text says it will vent more heat, but it still only vents it's base venting value.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
A bit odd that the most powerfull fuelcell is not very usefull. given what you need to do to make it work you are better off using double nefastium than the quads. at least the doubles can be used with 3 maxed fans and enough plating (leaving one side open for neuro reflection) I currently use 45 doubles, 23 NF's to boost them all, 45*3 ultimate heat fans,2 power capacitors an the rest is URP. heat aound 60B this gives me almost 2.5B per tick. dont have any of the 50T upgrades sofar
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Something is wrong with the math. I have vents that reduce 22B heat per tick, and I need 3 of them to handle 1 reactor which produces 8B heat per tick.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
After the latest update my top tier vents that say they cool themselves at 6.3B a tick over heat when i put two top tier outlets at 506.25M on them (500M *2=1B unless my math is wrong).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Something doesn't seem right with the display values on this build - a single Double Dolorium cell, which supposedly produces 1.815B heat, is overloading two adjacent Ultimate vents that are supposed to vent 5.313B each with my upgrades.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I tried a simple build to try heat outlets.
Dunno if its good or bad score in that build, for now its fully idle 530B/t (with possibility to improve)
Too bad those outlets are still unstable as hell and i dont think i understand them :D
All seems nice, no heat on vents, and suddenly they are all heating to 50% capacity and going down again. Worst thing is that sometimes just one vent is getting overheat to 90+% for no reason (rest of vents on >5%) 0o

New build's broke. It says heat vents scale with capacitors and they do, but not as much as the #s say. Either that or the heat output for cells is wrong. 1 Ultimate vent + 3 capacitors = 2.074B/tick and exactly balances 1 dolorium cell at 226.966M.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
okay so apparently heat inlets do not take priority over vents in heat distribution nor can the vents transfer heat into the heat inlets instead of just cooling it away which rrrrrgh would be great if not for the goddamned automatic heat venting.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Suggestion (pretty usefull one too): It looks like cells display the BASE heat per tick in the info, forgetting about the upgrade that increases ticks per second supposedly making the heat per tick higher with ranks. One should see the ACTUAL heat per tick instead of the BASE. Sorry if i got it wrong but i figured out this was how the 3B (dissipation) heat vents couldn't handle the 1B heat of the cell i was trying to use (since i have rank 7 tick per second upgrade i guess that 1B truly is 7B)
