I don't get the new heating system ,I buy a lot of heat vents ,place a quad-uranium cell ,and stay at 28 heat until explosion ,dafuq ?

As qwasek said, the optimal strategy is to dedicate one half of the reactor to heat vents connected to heat exchangers, and the other half to single cells placed in a checkern pattern. Due to the new update, the optimal pattern for heat vents-heat exchangers is no longer a line that goes _heat vent-heat exchanger-heat vent_ but instead one heat exchanger surrounded by four heat vents. I recommend you check "this pattern":http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:Efficient_Sugarcane_Farm.png since it's basically the same problem.

I like the new update, this is my reactor desig, it doesnt over heat and automatically collects all cash =-D http://prntscr.com/5wsw6p

Vents should be more able te store heat, or exchangers should prefer to store heat in them. Now they don't work to their potential until the reactor holds 1/8 of its maximum

Idea: a new building, the Maintenance Robot. It will automatically replace an exhausted cell if there is one and if there is enough money. It could check the cells once every 10 minutes and you can add a new upgrades line that decreases the time between checkings.

After refreshing the browser, my heat loss per tick suddenly vanished. I cant do it with plates, nor with heat vents.

"Developer response from Cael
Idle heat venting hasn't gone away at all. It's just less degenerate. You need to actually transfer heat into your vents to get them to dissipate it."
Having heat go down with just plating was nice, so yes, the REAL idle heat venting(without buying machines) has gone.
Uh. I'm sorry? Plating-based cooling required no thought in terms of placement and created a very simple dominant strategy. It was overpowered. I have an inbox full of screenshots of a checkerboard arrangement of cells and reactor plating, which a couple of capacitors off in the corner. This game's defining feature is the spatial relationship between components. Reactor plating, which is spatially independent, as a dominant strategy goes against the spirit of that.

I like the latest update, but there are still some improvements I'd like to see.
1. It's a bit hard to tell how everything is interacting, perhaps adding more tooltip data when hovering over a placed component, such as how much heat & power being generated by the current cell, how much heat per tick an exchanger is transferring to which adjacent cells, and how much heat a vent is receiving each tick.
2. pause, play, and fast forward buttons. It would be nice to have a pause function so we can place components and see what the result will be without risking immediate overheating. The mid to late game could really use a fast forward button when fuel cells will potentially last days, this would make it harder to manage heat etc. but would allow for a investment return in a reasonable amount of time.

How nubs build their reactors - plant power cells and build heat vents around them to remove heat. Then you notice exchangers move heat from reactor, and only build exchangers surrounded by vents, and power cells on top of power cells, and let reactor take all their heat, with exchangers taking care of it.

Ok I like the new update... But: It's really boring having to manually remove exhausted cells, they could just disappear when depleted, without explosion. Also the new Heatsink upgrade is a good idea but should be related to the quality of the Platings I build.

@Mathias oh there's still idle heat venting. you just have to use actual heat vents now. I'd recommend some heat exchangers as well.

What this really needs (besides a save function, obviously) is mouseover text - I'd really like to see the power/heat production and health by hovering over something.
You might want to refresh (And don't worry, there is a save function, so you won't lose your progress.) because that has just been implemented in the latest build.

i was making lots of money with a tons of plutonium cells running perfectly. I accidentally misplaced a quad plutonium cell and second later, BAM! Everything is gone since i have no plating at all. Working with nuclear is sure dangerous!

But You did it a lot less playable - a lot of more clicks with removing exhaused cells, no risk (means no fun), totally changed rules during playing (with vents and platings), totally different rules (without any documentation).

Thanks for the answer! For the upgrades, i meant for example the "enriched uranium" thing , i had buyed a few so yesterday, the uranium thing was: "4 heat pulse for 120 ticks", today when i opened the game again, it was back "1 heat pulse for 15 ticks". I think that is a bit strange, isn't it?

my power cells have a longer lifespan than my coolant cells do so this force me to actively play to replace them with fresh ones in order to avoid a meltdown...giving us an option to have this done automatically would make it feel more of an idle game, as it is now it is very stressful and more active than it is trying to be

It seems that the game is not counting what happened when it was offline, while it should to be much funnier. Please implement.

Plz restore the explosive fuel cells and the inability to sell cells... it could be a difficult setting that you can choose at the beginning... a funny hardmode
While I'm in favor of the whole having to live with your cell placements, a lot of people are having difficulty with reactors exploding from one false click. I really want to make the game more playable.

I have no Cells on the Reactor, yet I somehow create heat. It only goes dow to something like 120, if it goes below, it increases...
Where does this heat come from?
Only have Heat exchanger, Vents, Coolants, Reactor Plating and Capacitors on the Field...
Heat exchangers will balance heat between themselves and the reactor, based on percentage. If an exchanger has more heat than the reactor, it will attempt to transfer heat into the reactor. The reverse is also true.

Thansk for the update! Just resetted to restart! Can you add a button to remove all the depleted cells at once or to automatically replace them with new ones? It's a bit boring having to remove them manually. Also the new option to sell undepleted cells makes the game a lot less thrilling :(

For anyone freaking out about the changes:
- Exchangers can take heat from reactor now
- 1% heat reduction is now 1% efficient on vents
- Cell prices have increased
- Coolant Cells have a ton more Capacity
My Old Strat was placing Cells and Reactor Plating in a CRCRCR fashion and pushing it 1 over to the next row (i.e CRC row 1 RCR row 2)
I am doing the same but now i have 2 areas where i use my old strat for one part and i use (P = Capacitor , E = Heat Exchanger , V = Vent)
row 1: PVP row 2: VEV
And continue that for the area... Only tip with using this make sure at the mid point of these areas you can Reactor Plating next to The Capacitors to prevent losing them to heating

Not sure why (bug, glitch, minor oversight, etc.), but "Wondrous Heat Exchanger" and "Ultimate Heat Exchanger" both only transfer 4K heat per tick, even though Wondrous can hold a max of 500K heat, while Ultimate can hold a max of 5M heat.
The depleted versions produce no heat and can be immediately removed with a right-click, or immediately replaced by left-clicking with the same kind (Uranium, plutonium, etc.) of cell selected.
They do! They just vent their own heat, rather than the reactor's heat. Part of the essence of this game is the relationship between adjacent components. It was really easy to just put some vents off to the side and ignore them. Use heat exchangers or put them directly next to fuel cells to get them to work!

It is a great game, but there are still a few problems:
* yesterday i stopped playing. The game saved, but when I opened it today, the upgrades I purchased didn't work anymore. I could'nt buy them again, but there benefits were gone.
* So I decided to reset the game and to start over, but that seems to be impossible: by reseting my money went to 0 , so I can't buy anything, so I can't play this game anymore. I think this is very sad...
If you're referring to the heatsink upgrades, which automatically vented heat based on your heat capacity, they've been changed to make your vents more effective the more reactor plating you have. Also, if you have no money, and no components in your grid, the 'sell power' button converts to 'scrounge for cash', which you can click until you can afford a single uranium cell.

is the heat bar meant to jump around so much>? at any point is swings wildly from say negative numbers to positive numbers......

The new update definitely helps with the balancing; swapping the plating vents for a vent buff is interesting, particularly as it makes vents the only source of cooling, and heat exchangers the only automatic way of getting heat out of the reactor hull. 1% per plating is a really interesting sort of bonus; I'll have to play with it a bunch to see how it works in practice, but it certainly gets my imagination working.
Coupled with the buffs to vents, exchangers, and coolant, this looks very workable; off to reset and see how it plays out!
