To all of you commenters, especially Demaldon, 3nd0fw0r1d, who speak like you played this game through and know what you are talking about. None of you have a hard or impossible badges! You only have easy and medium for which you ONLY need 10 missions on normal difficulty!! So don't say bad things about the game because you don't know what you're talking about! Talking about THEL towers as more useful than missiles, yeah right. In fact THELs are the useless ones. But maybe on your normal difficulty you can find use for THELs. Great strategy game, quite difficult 5/5, waiting for sequel.

@KsbjA Yea that was one of the first things i've tried and it was marginally effective. I built an extensive spread out relay front but it did not give a lot of extra time and was taken down pretty quickly (i did continue to rebuild it as it was being destroyed but the ship took them down very quickly). On top of that many of my missile turrets weren't in range (about 1/3 of them) of the ship when it attacked the front half of relays. So, if anyone cares how I beat it with losing only 1-2 solar stations here it is: Some relays at front (~8), followed by one solar and then another in line so they get attacked first; a couple of pulsers for missile defense next to them, about 6-8 more solars behind in a matrix form with 9-11 repair stations covering the front two solars, and a ton of fully upgraded missile turrets in between them, keeping in reserve at least 3k, also 1-2 more pulsars at top and 1-2 at bottom.

My technique is just using a wall of somewhat spaced apart lazers, having alternating THELs and pulse lasers; The THELs take out the bigger targets while the pulse lasers obliterate any nearby missiles or small enemies before they can get close.

I dont not agree about the orcket is useless... only less used cause you rarely met swarmers... swarmers deflect most of laser damage (even THELs have trouble killing it) But 1-2 rocket and the whole swarm horde get killed.

Repair station is what I usually get for defence, however, I prefer to build some energy relays and miners in speed mining mode. Cost for a repair station: 300, a relay(100 hit points): 20, a miner: 45. Extra miners yeilds minerals as revenue at the cost of losing energy relay. Besides I can reach my goal faster this way. Not a bad tradeoff!

Missile turrents are so useful. Not to mention each fully upgraded missile turrent costs much less than a fully upgraded THEL, missile turrents are the best when dealing with motherships and explosives. Think it this way. Instead of getting a THEL and an energy store, build a missiles and a bunch of miners. Missile turrents gives as strong protections to your base as THEL do, while you will have more miner mining minerals. Each missile does cost meager amount of minerals (5?), however, its 550 splashing damage can take down motherships in no time at all!

I think normal difficulty is bugged. Normal is too tough and hard isn't noticeably more difficult. I'd bet normal and hard have identical code, unintentionally.
3/5 with a lot of wasted potential. I'd like to see more mining and base building and less frantic defending against unreasonably large swarms.

@Maxzwell - it is a good idea to invest in a net of energy relays right in front of your base, so that the über-ship keeps firing at the decoy base (the net of relays) instead of attacking you. Keep rebuilding the network if necessary. Hope that helps! :-)

Update: with about 7 repair places i was able to hold ground for several minutes and got that ship down to a tiny sliver of hp (maybe 5%).

Really, for the impossible badge, the last two missions are so far impossible for me. I can get the mothership down to about 40% with 9-10 fully upgraded missile towers and 4 pulsars for defense from its shots. 5-6 THELs with a ton of backup power and when they lock onto the ship dont do a lot of dmg and the base is destroyed much quicker...i've done elaborate networks of conenctors just to buy some time but same result. It's rather frustrating at this point. Any ideas? Crazy difficulty, last 2 levels.

Some levels take a long time to complete. A level can be as long as 30 minutes, and this game is not fun or unique enough for many people to find the time for the badges.

This game is quite hard considering it relies on all skill, no upgrades, no skill points, nothing to make it even slightly easier except for the "easy" mode. Most people as you can see, only achieve the 'easy' badge. I'd say if you can achieve the 'medium' badge your pretty good. If you can achieve any of the others, your freakin' straight up badazz.

To those people that say this game is too hard: you're probably right... but here a few things that will help: 1. max out spending on resource and power gathering asap, pause the game to build if you have to. even when you see enemies on screen don't panic, squeeze out as much resource/power as you can before you HAVE to defend. 2. know which guns for which enemies- red fighters:anything - green fighter:1 fully upgraded pulse will mean no damage to anything in its range - yellow circles: lots of UN-UPGRADED lasers, one shot per kill, so have many and even swarms will fail. - grey swarms: missiles is a must, even at lvl1 will take out a entire swarm. - Mother ship: missiles again, out ranges everything significantly, hit the mothership before they're close, if in group will take out multiple at the same time, and will kill swarms of the fighters in one shot. that should help in getting through normal mode... for hard and crazy... i guess you'd have to be crazy ;)

Awesome game, loved the mining bits, gave a nice change to tower defence where your income can be worked out from the number of enemies sent at you, this was up to you to judge how much to mine before "F*&K they're coming! fire the cannons!!!!"
@Demaldon- if you didn't use missiles no wonder you gave it 3/5, they joy of watching 1 missile wipe out entire squadrons was the best part. hehe last mission only had like 3 pulsars for a laugh, the real fire power was in the 13 missile batteries... the other bazillion gun i had stayed silent... nothing every got in range of anything other than the missiles. oh until the mother ship itself, still didn't lose a single building. 5/5
