Guys, this is accurate off the cover, but not in detail. One of the Earls you fight in the first mission, was Harold's brother, and Harold's brother betrayed him and would have been on Harald's side. And the Saxon's outnumbered the Norman's (about 6,300 to 6,000). The spear militia would be called "fyrd", and the "Anglo-Saxons" were not English, the Saxons were German.

YOUR FIRST HAND TO HAND ATTACK CAN NOT BE A CHARGE OR THE GAME WILL FREEZE.
Each players first melee attack must be a non-charge (attack from less than 3 squares away). Otherwise the multiplayer game will freeze and the set up time will be wasted.

Remarkable game, but I find it odd how on hard mode, the fearless Vikings flee when at the same morale as the English, who's King is currently being wrecked by Hardradi.

Mr. Jingles, I don't think they quit in multiplayer. I had to surrender multiple times cos the game suddenly froze halfway through. I was playing in multiplayer with a friend a few times and same thing happens everytime.

This game is excellent. I don't know about the quality of the multi-player because I haven't tried it, but the single player is innovative to a degree that is often unmatched in paid games. The mini-games aren't annoying (as they tend to be in games), but are rather fairly skill-based (except for charging, which is just button mashing) and feel like a functioning component of the game rather than a tacked-on extra. The built-in history lesson is nice bonus as well. The ability to choose your own force and how you use it is fun and sandboxy while the limited units makes the game very tactical. Overall an outstanding game and a personal favorite of mine. I would rate this game an 6 out of 5 but that's not possible, so 5 out of 5 will have to do. Bravo and encore.

Great game, but there is a bug that makes the game nearly UNPLAYABLE online. in the middle of a fight or something, the game will freeze. the sound and the music continues playing, but you cant move, and it never zooms out.

Great game play, brilliant graphics, good tactics, wants to draw the player in.
BIG problem when your over 1k of troops ahead the AI only needs to taunt you 2-3 times and your army collapses sorry no, winning then lost to a few cat calls NOT A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL very frustrating

(part 3 of review): Sure there is multiplayer and a battle that you can create but it would be way better if the campaign was longer. Another thing I didn’t really like was that you couldn’t pick sides in the campaign and I would really like if you could. Just a suggestion for the future if there is a sequel to the game was to have an upgrade system, upgrade courage or accuracy etc. Another suggestion is to have this type of game in other parts of history. Anyways this was just my opinion.

(part 2 of review): Yes you still need to use tactics, but not as much because of the mini games. While in the fight it would be better to have, a zoom in and you can see your units, individually and command them instead of pressing the arrow keys. Also I wish the arrow game was replaced by a CPU controlling your archers and your archer’s skill was depended on how good they were in the year 1066. The taunts I have no real problem with. As many, many people said before me there is this one big problem THE LENGTH. As I said this game captures the gamer and leaves them wanting to play again, but as the gamer is playing the last level and passes it, they realize that the game is done. They probably will go like “What!? That’s it?” (to be continued)

8.5/10. A great, addicting and tactical game. I truly loved this game. It had very good graphics and the gameplay was fun and addicting. The game captures the gamer and leaves them wanting to play more and more each time. The plot was very good following multiple events in history. The graphics to my standards were very good, the landscape was fantastic, and the soldiers looked pretty good (though I would have wanted to actually see their armor, weapons etc.). Now the gameplay was highly addicting (as I said before) and thoughtful, it required you to use tactics and your common sense to win, which many games lack. The mini-games sort of kill the tactics part of this game. (to be continued)

Yes I agree the mini-games detract from the main tactics.
Also there is no strategy involved. This is a purely tactical game, albeit a good one.

the mini games completely ruin any strategy that might have been involved. I'm a lousy typer, so I can't taunt, I can aim an arrow, so all i can do is use melee units. I'm sure it would be fun otherwise...?
