Checkpoints aren't necessary. It's just more difficult without a challenge and you're not used to a little challenge. Besides, there are some reasons why there are no checkpoints, I guess: 1. it's more realistic and dramatic making one wrong move and all your effort is for nothing 2. what about the plane's health? If you reach a checkpoint on low health should you have full health on your next try or always the tiny amount?
What would be good was a way to skip a part of the beginning of the level where there is no action and you just fly for half a minute. Doing this over and over makes it a bit boring.
Pause button would definitely be a good thing.

I've gotta agree with everyone else. Checkpoints and a pause are a must. Some form of showing throttle would be nice too. Other than that a wonderfully put together game. 3/5

I'm sorry, 3/5. It seems that the developer decided to upload an unfinished game. Great game, needs a HUD, save, checkpoints within a mission, and a pause. Those reasons is why it is 3/5.. It would have been 5/5 had it been finished.

Good game, But lacking in places. Pause button, Health Bar and for the love of god Checkpoints!!
I had some triggers not working, so rather then shoot some planes down then more come, you shot them down and then nothing happened. Very annoying. Overall a good game that just needs some touch ups. 3.5/5

damn why must there always be a AFK person on multiplayer! Make an action where people who don't ready up after a certain amount of time get kicked out.

yeah the screen is too small got shot down and didnt even see the enemy...great story and graphics and gameplay isnt bad but needs some more testing and fine tuning...seems alittle hurried

Is level one supossed to work like this: I kept flying to the left, whilst the ''red?'' plane went to the right... im 40K away now.

great game but the thing i feel that could make it excelle is an air speed indicater or stall-bar of some kind so you dont just fly away and suddenly ur engine stops working

Ditto to everyone who says checkpoints, also on Misison 3, the bomber's can fly out of the mission zone, meaning you either pursue them to kill them and lose for leaving the area, or you don't follow them and fail because they escaped. Also some stall indicator would be nice.

Hilarious game, lovely graphics and big thanks to the creators for commemorating our 303 Squadron (I'm Polish). 303 did a great job during the WW.
P.S. I do agree with others - checkpoints and pause button should make this game a really nice time waster. Besides that 5/5. :)

Is mine the only one where it glitches for a second when you get a kill? The visuals stop for a second, but the game keeps playing, so I end up losing sight of parachutes and lose control of the plane for a second.
A couple suggestions to the makers, it's great, but can the altitude meter have red or something when it gets to500 feet or something? I can't see the ground and then I'm stuck in a loop or something too close to the ground.

I like this game but I think ill stick with IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 due to the fact it has a pause button. And about 20x as many planes you can fly.

Absolutly love this game i think this is a great concept and the controls are all very well done, fairly realistic physics aswell love the voice acting. As a canadian myself i loved to hear my good people represented by kent in level three, and i would have loved to have kept on playing if not for lack of checkpoints; i simply cannot attempt level three any more than five times. other than that a pause button would be appreciated and im not sure how i feel about a decceleration control as i saw mentioned in previous comments, im not sure how much more/less realistic this would make the game but personally i preffer without as it adds a certian challenge. I can imagine a game with this option would simply have people trying to outbreak eachother on multiplayer but i could be wrong. 4/5 otherwise would be 5/5 with a pausebutton and much, much needed checkpoints, well done!

@ mag109: It's easy to take the gunship(and all the ground/sea based targets in that mission) out if you fly very close to the surface(the meter should read 20 or less) and level off with light taps so that you're not gaining or losing altitude, and then hold the fire button but not the throttle one. If that doesn't finish it, turn around and do it again.

the only needed thing is pause. If you want checkpoints you're missing the point. This is a game of skill not spamming the space bar. you practicly have a health meter : Your smoke. 5/5

Wow. When I went into the multiplayer dogfight, I thought I was going to suck. Turns out I was wrong. I play bye "SBA", and so far I have four straight wins with no deaths from me. Woo! I hope a version comes out what can show a crown or star to symbolize how good I am. Sadly I don't have many kills. I tend to manipulate my opponent and make him mess up on his own mistakes.

Also, if anyone is having trouble (such as Lotr Gollum above), general strategy is to pull one or two loop-de-loops until you are behind an enemy plane, and then follow them and shoot. If you can get them to a low altitude, the AI will pull a steady climb up to about 600-800 elevation, where you can follow them and shoot them down easily. On the last level, the ship can be taken out easily by flying very low. Fly straight and fire from an altitude of about 30, stay at that altitude until the ship is out of sight then turn around and do the same.

I personally like having no checkpoints in this game. It adds a great amount of difficulty that makes this game what it is. All of you who complain about it, just think about how this game would be without them. Let me tell you, WAY TO EASY.

while i see they want to make the game as realistic as possible (no pause, checkpoints) it would at least be good to have an easier version with checkpoints, at least once a mission
