"Altar starts at 0. First achievement is 1." If you say this is working as intended and it's more of a typo than bug then I believe you. It's your game. :-) But I'd still like to understand; If the multiplier starts at 0 then shouldn't we not get any DK at all until we hit 100 Altars since 0*anything=0. Also, I still don't understand why at 99 Altars I get 198 DK and at 100 I get 200. That's the same rate. Where's the gain?
Because, before you get 200 achievements the altar only adds by its base value of 2. 198 + 2 = 200. I have code in place to check for a 0 and stop it from multiplying by it. Programming is all math, yes, but there are ways you can cheat the math system to stop undesirable calculations from happening. I wish I could just correct my typo so people could stop being so confused but it can't happen until the next update. I apologize for the confusion over this. ~Taiga

@desciclope: I consider myself a hardcore gamer and I play this. The reason is simple. As i've stated in previous comments, i never spend more than 5 minutes per round in this game, just come, check my gold, buy/conquer and save before going to any of my main games. Yet, with so little effort and time i've been slowly crawling and getting into the top 100. It gives me a feeling of achieving something like it would be in any other game, except i dont have to ditch the games that i like to focus only in 1 thing, which is awesome. 2 weeks ago i got this urge to play old jrpg games (psx, dc, ps2 mainly) and i usually focus only in 1 game at a time dropping everything else until im done, yet, i dont need to drop this idle game while im playing other game and that fits perfect for me.
I've been wanting to play FF9 again soooo badly >_> Like this craving that just eats at you until you finally succumb to its temptation. Kinda wish Square would release it on Steam like it did the others as I don't have any way to play console games anymore. ~Taiga

Wait... visual novel? Fully programmed yourself (ie: not ren'py)? If this makes things as awesome as I hope, I might just bump this from 4 (max I feel I can give to an idle game) to 5 stars.... and maybe people like desciclope666 might consider it more of a 'real' game :P (Although he might criticize those too)
Yeah but I don't plan to have an affinity system with Catherine. I just plan to have the dialogue interaction of a visual novel. I'm coding it myself using C# because I don't have much of a choice at this point. I can get it to one conversation with 1 dialogue choice that branches off to two different paths but making multiple dialogue choices in the same conversation that branch off to a different response from Catherine is where the wall I hit is at. *cries* If I can get a good system down I can be REALLY creative with it, otherwise I can still be creative but you won't be able to expect dialogue choices to affect what she will say to you later, instead only affect what she says to you in that particular conversation... nor would I be able to make it so her attitude towards you change based on what you say to her. So try not to have super high expectations in those regards. ~Taiga
Well in my research when I used to write a lot I discovered that light novels are now the popular thing. Short stories that range from 20-100k words rather than 250k+ words. You are probably right :3 I'm currently setting the dialogue overhaul up as a real visual novel with dialogue choices that take you to different things to read but the programming for this is challenging, I will succeed though! If I programmed Idle Conquest, a little visual novel programming can't stop me! :3 ~Taiga

I don't know why but whenever theres a health bar or conquest bar I always thought of it as 1,000,000 soldiers pushing and stabbing the health bar. Also If you are having troubles with gold requirement for raiding I suggest to keep fighting until you have around 2-3 million Dark Knight if you reset because then money gain is alot more faster and more effiecent

why idle "games" even exist? what kind of casual plays this kind of bull? you ppl are worse than the ppl that send me requests on facebook games.
Idle 'games' are more of an 'activity' than a game. It's something to do that requires very little time and effort freeing them up to do other things. One could argue they can just not play this at all then they are freed up completely but games like this are easily played while in class or doing other things that don't allow them to play a serious game instead. It is the very definition of casual gaming. I am sorry you disapprove of our game and the people playing them and I wish you luck in your pursuit of real games. :) ~Taiga

@VileVestal: Conquest have a higher RoI than gold buildings at around 500 to 600 upgrade or 600 to 700 upgrade for the buildings. The later zones have a higher ROI than earlier ones, so I'd start once my gold mine get to 500 at latest. This is until you get the 9th achievement set, then you can delay it for another hundred as your gold structures generates quite a bit more(and chances are you have some extra DK such that you can blow through the conquest faster hence no early start required). I tend to build gold structures to 400 before starting on units and keep units 100 below gold.

@Taiga lol. Sure, that's one of the main points to all idle games, but there are things that makes some more interesting than others. Themes of course help. A decent balance and good content - and Queen Catherine is a fun addition that helps with making Conquest much more interesting than it would otherwise be. :D
Yeah I apologize for my misjudgment but I am going to make this up with the dialogue overhaul. I'm pouring years of character creation and creative writing experience into this one. Writing is one thing I feel really confident about. I just never felt confident the internet has people who like to read :P ~Taiga

Thank you foofoo1190. It appears people have misunderstood what I was saying: Until you have enough Dark Knights to conquer the world (and you need them to conquer the world I think), any money spent on troops or conquering territories before that is wasted because the ROI is miniscule and all the territories and troops will be lost when you do the next DK reset. So, before you have (I guess) a few million dark knights then you should ignore the map and all the troop buildings. That seems a pity. It makes the game less fun early on. It seems to me that the correct way to play at the moment is to build the alter up (and build money buildings to pay for that) until you have a few million Dark Knights and then and only then start building troops and conquering territories. If territories got stronger (harder to conquer) as time went on and stayed conquered after DK resets then it would fix that.
*EDIT* and you can read deathvonduel's comment above. The game does have a lot of strategy to resource gain. Yes the game is based on an idle rewards system. The more you idle in our idle game, the more rewards you will get. Once we add the new economy structures you can build and let you spend troops to increase gains in conquered countries, it should have more fun for people who have just started playing me thinks. ~Taiga
As soon as I can crack this programming logic puzzle regarding how I plan to handle the new dialogue overhaul, it should just fall into place rather quickly. For now I hit a wall but after I beat the wall down with a sledge hammer I can walk through it and continue down the update cave effortlessly :) ~Taiga

I submitted a bug report for this but the developers seem to pay more attention to the comments. So just in case they didn't see the bug report:
I've gotten to 600 Altars which should give me +6 to my Achievement Multiplier. Since it STARTS on 1, 1+6=7. It's only at 6. When I noticed this I looked at my old saves and realized that when I hit 100 it didn't go up at all. I got 2 DK/Altar both before and after getting the achievement. That missing 2 DK/Altar didn't corrected itself when I got further achievements so I'm still getting 2 fewer than the game says I should be.
The most irritating part about that for my OCD is that when I get to 900 it won't end on a round number. Should end on 20 DK/Altar and instead it'll be 18.
Altar starts at 0. First achievement is 1. It shows you what the multiplier is under Kingdom Overview. I'm currently at 4 achievements earned for Altar and my multiplier is 4. Working at intended. However I notice the visual glitch for people who have just started the game. It should be showing 0, not 1 and the tooltips have not been updated to say the multiplier = 1 instead of +1. ~Taiga

@drraska: Exactly. You're getting 280 million from countries mean you HAVE conquered the world. Or, you easily have enough DK to do so quickly and so why haven't you? So, yes. It's worth it. VilaRestal said it wasn't worth it until you could conquer the world in a reasonable time before reset. Not that it would never be worth it.
Well the goal of the game is world conquest after all. Not, "Conquer 2 countries and receive insane rewards!" I don't think there is a solution to making conquering half the world 'a good idea' without, in-turn, making it so it isn't that worth it conquering the whole world. I designed this game to be about gathering the resources and going on a psychotic rampage throughout the world until everyone is bowing before you. I am already designing an overhaul to the conquest mechanisms of this game though and am taking these things into consideration. However the current system has been extremely rewarding to people who have taken the time to gain enough dark knights and I find most of the comments using the words 'useless' or 'takes too long' are from newer players and that is also being considered in my redesign of the game. ~Taiga

There isn't much gloating on the part of Catherine when we conquer the entire world. This seems entirely out of character.
Currently working on a massive dialogue overflow for her. I would have done more with the dialogue before game launch but I had no idea anyone would care about her. I literally thought people just played idle games to click buttons and do math :P ~Taiga

I was confused by the Dark Knight reset (until reading the instructions, which I do last of course). Renaming it (maybe to Summon Dark Knights) and re-positioning it (not in options) might be better. It is actually a nice idea that adds thought to the game.
However, the first thought it adds is: "there's no point building an army until you can afford to build one big enough to conquer the whole world in one go" (after your last DK Reset) because conquered territories give you so little. So, please make conquering places before a DK reset more worthwhile.
Most importantly a DK Reset should not lose territory. If you add to that territories grow in defensive power with time then conquering early might be better than waiting. Perhaps a player's military successes could have negative (or positive) effects on the growth of other free territories. That would make the game more challenging and less of an inevitable victory and fix the "pointlessness of armies until the end" problem.
Currently getting 10 million gold per second from countries in my game. seems worth it.
Anyway, we will be expanding on country mechanics in the future. Presently you do get a bonus for conquering the whole world when you soft reset. Thanks for playing!
We don't want to give hard timelines because things change and unforeseen problems pop up. We are currently working on a fun overhaul of the "message" system, that will let you interact with Catherine by choosing how you reply to her comments, etc. After that we will be adding more production buildings and achievements, and a way to use troops to "invest" in countries to boost their gold production (that last one we are still hashing out, so it might go in a different direction entirely. lol).
You aren't looking in the right place. The total at the top only represents how many you gained after resetting. To view what the altar has produced look at the options screen under Dark Knight Reset or the Altar screen in Kingdom Overview. ~Taiga

Just conquered the world for the first time. Its awesome, but I noticed something weird. I don't know why the grey isles are giving you troops, because you have to get them last so you don't have anyone else to conquer. I might be missing somethings, and I know you are working on the map feature, Its just something I find interesting. With that I'm done with this comment, and thank you for this wonderful game. Can't wait for more updates :)

Hey little bug for you. Upon reaching enough to purchase multiple upgrades at once, for me the 2nd farm and 2nd barracks upgrades. I only had enough for one of them, and so I bought the farm upgrade, however I didn't actually calculate my mistake and saw the barracks button as still lit, and it let me upgrade. It still took my money and I think reset me to 0, however it allowed me to purchase it for less than it should have.
That actually can't happen because determining whether or not you can buy something runs in a constant update check. You likely just misread something. The 10,50 and 100 buy buttons show you the max cost, but it only buys as many as you can afford. ~Taiga

A suggestion I have is maybe there should be some kind of bonus to not resetting straight away after conquering the Grey Isles. Right now, there's no reason not to reset immediately, since you get a bonus from conquering the world then resetting. Which as you get more and more Dark Knights, gets quicker and quicker. When I first conquered the Grey Isles with around 5 million or so Dark Knights it took me about 27 hours, but now with 35 million Dark Knights, it takes me about 3, and I don't get nearly any closer to those later achievements except overnight because I'd reset long before I'd achieve them normally. I could wait it out I suppose, but there's nothing else to focus on while getting those achievements if I chose to do that.
Do the math on say... the farm. It shows you what your farm DK multiplier will be after reset, add it to your achievement multiplier * it by base value. Every time you build a new farm the number you get from doing this math will be how much you will gain per # built. ~Taiga

@gukr: If you idle exactly the same time after reset then you will see there is a big difference. But in the short run, 13x multiplier isnt that much. You will still need to idle some to get the next achievment. Every reset i get around 2m DK (200x multiplier) and i dont really see any difference in my money growth but im reseting in less than 24h. Remember, this is an idle game, things are supposed to be slow so you can idle overnight or whenever you are busy.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@gukr, at the beginning (first few resets) DK's are slow to gain and indeed don't do too much. This is the reason why it's good to try hit some gold productivity or altar achievement before resetting. Especially when we go from 300-->400 and 600-->700 achievements, notice how much of difference they make (16 and 2.72 times greater multiplier respectively!). In initial stage, where DK's does a little, it can be really significant difference, so sometimes it is good to spent few extra hours before reset, so your production would rise even few times afterwards ^_^
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Right. So 13x compared to 2x "multiplier" under economy tabs should actually feel a little faster, right? I expected to advance to the next tier of achievements, but I am still pretty much at the same grinding spot I was at before the reset.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Do DKs boost gold income? Not noticing much of a difference between 16k and 135k DKs but I havent done any math or anything.
The Kingdom Overview contains pretty accurate details about your multipliers you can look at. The multiplier formula to determine gains is essentially: How many you have built * multiplier * base value. I've given you all you need to determine the outcome including what your DK multiplier will be after a reset. ~Taiga

@im an unknown: I quit AdCap cause of their useless updates but that is only my personal opinion. I thought of 2 reasons why i wouldnt like it. The first reason is that conquering is already too easy and fast for me and its even faster for those whith more DKs (im not even in top 100 ranking). On the long run, we all will be able to conquer anything in less than 5 minutes. Why make it easier?. The 2nd reason is if you think about a battlefield, doesnt matter how big your army is if the oponent starts shooting arrows as soon as they see your army you will get more than 5-10 deaths. Also, moving a bigger army would mean more ressources (food, weapons, ships, etc) wasted. The army with higher number have the advantage but doesnt mean you should waste everything in a single fight. Even with an army 10x bigger rushing the 1st line needs to break the enemy formation before the rest can get into the fight so it wouldnt really mean 10x army = 10x power = 10x speed.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I would love to have the ability to choose how much of my army I want to defeat another country. When it says I need 675 army power, and I have over 900,000, I want to decimate the battle field and only lose about 5 or 10 men in the process. Also you should add a fight sequence. If you have more troops you add, show that during the fight. This game has the potential to be the next AdCap. Keep at it and it might be better. Either way, great game.
I know people keep posting about how upsetting the combat time is but it quickly spirals out of control for people who have been playing awhile. Grey Isles in 10 minutes? Yeah people are doing that right now. I need to reinvent a new system instead of adding to the old one and that is what I intend to do later on in a future content update so stay tuned! ~Taiga

Hello, thank you for continuing to support our game by playing it. There is a tab that says 'achievements', unless you are referring to Kongregate badges kind of achievements in which case we will likely not receive those as Kongregate does not really give them out to Idle genre games. Strategy, however, there exists strategy regarding how you manage your resources and how you time your resets believe it or not it's strategy involving numbers which is why I have a nice detailed, clean and easy to read Kingdom Overview screen. Dark Knights are necessary to speed up production. You need to make sure you are resetting with a good amount which in the overview screen I show you what your dark knight multipliers will be after reset to help people plan these better too. ~Taiga

I have 5000 buildings, but the kingdom overview tells me I have 4999. If the first farm doesn't count, it should. Anyway, 5/5 for the only idle game with an actual character that I know of (though I would like to see Cath have more traits than a stock tsundere).
Well it says total buildings built, you didn't build the first farm, it was given to you :P. As for Cath personality traits, while I agree it would be a cool feature I think it would take way too much time and would require careful consideration on whether it is worth the time. My ultimate goal is to entertain as many players as possible with the time I'm using. ~Taiga

Humm.... she asks what we should name the world she does.... I suggest lolitopia! Just saying...
On a serious note, DK bonus needs to be more carefully calibrated. At the current moment, its military value far out weights its production value. Due to the last achievement update, the production bonus DK provides doesn't mean much anymore as even millions of DK cannot double production rate. On the other hand, it is a must for the last one to two conquest due to the heavy power requirement. It would be better if it was more balanced between those two uses to encourage multiple resets instead of just doing a few(I'd say three times at 100k, 500k and 4m will suffice under the current numbers)
Umm but you can only gain that achievement bonus once. Dark Knights you can gain forever and just keep growing their numbers. That is why this is balanced. ~Taiga

Hi Lapu! Glad to see you're still playing our game and don't worry, I will be getting new content to help people grow resources to you soon enough! Perhaps conquering all the countries is not an end, but only a beginning? =)
