Why don't people just sleep on a roof with no entrance? Just Grab a ladder and camp out on the roof? Like Zombies Can't get you plus vantage point why so many people do it the hard way?

"you are dead! Restart?" okay so you're starting from the same day, as in everything that happened that day is invalid, and somehow the survivors won't revive even though they were alive that morning.

I felt like such a badass when I found NO survivors AT ALL and beat back the horde with my hunting rifle, chainsaw and grenades

Thank you for having survivors killed on a night when you lose stay dead when you go back in time before the night even though you stay alive. The running, armored, axe-wielding, seemingly invincible zombies were a nice touch, too.
